Fake interest isn’t that hard, is it Earl?

That’s a fair deal.

That was my husband when I showed him quilt fabric.

It’s a a b¡tch bear to sew a straight flat seam in stretchy fabric. More power to all those minions who spend their lives sewing tee shirts!

Earl is being a good sport for a change.

The snark is strong with this one.

Aw, come on. Is it really so difficult to pretend being sincere for just a few moments? Your manly integrity can withstand the brief fake enthusiasm. Remember, as The Wise Guy said: “Always be sincere whether you mean it or not!”

You’ll really be saying that when she makes something for you to wear with that material.

It’s not reciprocal as most husbands know.

She wants to make sure that one way or another, he suffers. I would rather feign interest than actually go to the fabric store. Maybe get a beer first to help me get through the ordeal.

Interesting she goes to the fabric store to make things, a lot of people do not sew any more!

The harridan usually gets her way!

“Interesting. What are your plans with it? Oh, that is a looker, bet you have a blouse idea! Now that is interesting—do tell me what made you choose that one?” There you go, ready made sentences she will appreciate.

I went for cloth with adhesive on the back to patch my car upholstery. They didn’t have it, so I bought it from Amazon, made in China. It didn’t stick, so I super glued it, and it looks terrible.

Earl struck a good bargain.

C’mon Earl, that’s how it works. You feign interest in fabrics and she applauds when you finish mowing!

I have my own sewing room and create quilts besides repairing things when needed. It’s relaxing and creative, so I understand Opal’s interest!

If you can convincingly fake sincerity, you’ve got a career in politics.

My mother taught us to make shirts when we were boys .. I made pattern matched shirts for my father and both brothers for Christmas one year. Never did get the hang of making pants though.

Reminds me of a Sunday Pickles. Earl and Nelson were discussing superpowers. Earl told Nelson that Edna had one, she can make time stand still whenever he goes with her to fabric store. Made sure to send it to my mom, a great seamstress.

So lets recap. She goes to the fabric store to make clothes, but is exasperated when Earl brings home clothes from the thrift store in yesterday’s strip. Ah, the irony.

Man, do I live this every day!

Men AND women know how to fake it to please their spouses, snicker, snicker.

My stepdad Dave loved to go shopping, but the one place he refused to walk into was the fabric store after the time he took a bolt of fabric to the cutting table & 2 employees there ignored him & carried on their conversation, thinking he was “waiting for someone.” He’d drive mom there & sit in the car, reading.

I can, and have, spent two hours in a quilt shop. So many patterns, so much fabric!

I always go to the fabric store with my S.O. It’s next to Disc Replay so I can shop for movies.

He caved, no, now he’s going to wear the outcome.

Attaboy Earl……what a good actor?

Well marriage is supposed to be about compromise.

You ALWAYS have to pretend you’re interested. No matter what the situation. But take heart because being shown the fabric store purchases will be a lot shorter than having to listen to what Aunt Thelma told her about what transpired at Uncle Ludwig’s latest visit to the doctor.

Stretchy knits? For yoga pants for Earl?

Fabric stores can be fun if you have a project in mind like costumes for the grandchildren. The trickiest projects I have done so far are pirate breeches for myself, and a small haversack for my grandson.

He clearly has paid some attention if he knows knits from woven fabric.
