I remember when I grew up on a farm in the 60s and ‘70s we used to dispose of newspapers and other paper products by burning them in a large barrel. I’m pretty sure that’s not allowed anymore.
Ah, paganism..Now that the Election is over – let’s get the COMMENTS back on political strips. I suggest users here start contacting Go Comics through the “contact” us for under the “Feedback/Suggestions” subject.
See? SEE! Calvin is so in simpatico with The Count in the Liberal Burning Leaf Liberal Media Fake News Conspiracy Theory Crisis (aka LBLLMFNCTC)! Liberals are depriving children of wonderful childhood memories. God Bless America! Burn Leaves Not Cities! God Bless America, Again!
When I was a teen, I lived in a house which was perched in the middle of an inclined property. When it snowed sufficiently, I’d climb up to the front and sled down, taking care not to run into the house along the way.
In the next few minutes, we are about to be ‘serenaded’ by three back pack leaf blowers with about the same decibel rating as a passenger jet but in much lower tones. Both wife and I are stuck in house and the very low bass vibs make us seasick. Wish we could find a place to go out of the cold but we’d have to be there most of the day. And even the library is not that comfortable.
burning leaves is more natural and enriching to the environment versus burying fiberglass windmill blades in landfills or scooping out the shards of those blades that nature destroys from lightening strikes or strong winds…
sitting at the top of the hil with my sled surrounded by tealights. will it snow? almost December and none sticking around. soon I will sacrifice a squirrel, who has been in my feeders. that should do it.
Several weeks ago I had a pleasant conversation with the person who takes care of our neighbor’s lawn.
Yesterday I am in my den and I hear him in my neighbor’s yard with his leaf blower. After a while, I thought it was louder than it should be, so I looked out and he was doing MY yard!
He said he enjoyed our conversation and wished me an early Merry Christmas.
In my area, I think you need a special permit to burn leaves. And it does pollute and it smells awful. In my family we don’t burn leaves; sure, we often rake them and put them in bags or barrels for the yard waste guys to pick up, or if they’re spread all across a lawn, we can run the lawn mower and shred the leaves with them! The small bits of leaf left over are also good for the soil.
Also, it looks like we might have kind of a warm winter in my area, no thanks to Climate Change and Global Warming.

How combustible is a toboggan?…..
Robin Harwood about 12 hours ago
Just hope that enough of your neighbours are burning leaves to appease the snow demons.
snsurone76 about 12 hours ago
Do that, Calvin. Hopefully, the demons will be appeased, and there will be plenty of snow to make your monster creations—that drive Dad nuts, LOL.

In the 50’s Leaf burning was done all over, T smell of burning leaves was as much a part of fall as halloween and Thanksgiving
Bilan about 8 hours ago
Gotta admit. Accidentally setting your toboggan on fire and trying to put it out does build character.
BigDaveGlass about 8 hours ago
Calvin just wants to ensure plenty of snow to build Snow Goons.

That stupid dork probably introduced the legislation to ban gas stoves, too.

Appease them with child sacrifices. Dad and Mom would probably be onboard sometimes.

O Toboggan! I adore thee! My sled! My Master! I want no other!

All the carbon in the leaves was taken out of the atmosphere, so burning leaves is carbon neutral.

Here in New Jersey, we burned many leaves this year.
