Puddles seem to be reacting the way Nancy is thinking. That’s two days in a row for Puddles. A little bit more of that, and Puddles will be vying against Daisy for the most expressive cartoon dog award.
So GnK are actually making some kind of arc out of this? I have no idea where they’re going with this. On the other hand, I pretty much use Bernice’s technique when it comes to jigsaw puzzles verbatim.
This reminds me of an episode of “The Loud House” where the overworked mother is nailed for a parking violation and sentenced to community service pick up trash in the city park, find this so relaxing she starts breaking other rules so she can get back to the park.
Seems Nancy would rather be alone in doing this puzzle, but Luann and Bernice have busted in with unsolicited “technical advice” deflating her enthusiasm.
Tomorrow, it will be Frank bugging Nancy. Thursday, it will be b-WAD. Friday, it will be TJ. Saturday will be capped off with Shannon as the ultimate annoyance.
My daughter enjoys jigsaw puzzles and does the 1,000 piece puzzles. I do not share such enjoyment and frankly I find those puzzles annoying but will sit down for however long it takes until I find 1 (one) piece that fits. At that point I triumphantly point this out to her and say “Yay, I helped!” and then walk away and tell her to let me know when there are 5 more pieces left so I can come back and help her finish the puzzle. She very kindly tells me how nice it is for her to have such a helpful dad :0)
We have a contest. Who is more annoying? Luann for Googling how long it takes on average to complete a puzzle, or, Bernice “Helping”? Right now, I’d say it’s a tie. Nancy just light standing them both against a wall, blindfolded.
It looks like a week of “Nancy is confronted with her bad choices.” Day one was her raising of deadbeat Luann who treats her like a maid needing the afternoon off. Day two is allowing busybody Bernice to live there with no plan to eventually get her out. What will tomorrow bring? Maybe Shannon will roll up and scatter all the pieces around the room?
I suppose everyone has guessed what the story is about this week. We get to see each family members’ reaction to a jigsaw puzzle in progress. This is like watching paint dry (except pant would dry more quickly). I don’t think G&K could have come up with a more boring, tedious story line if they tried. Maybe they did try. Maybe that was their objective.
My fear has come true. Bernice doesn’t have Luann’s delicacy and immediately put her nose in Nancy’s jigsaw. Maybe I’m wrong and the two could have fun doing it together. But I hope this can be an opportunity to understand if Bernice is just being extremely friendly or if she considers Nancy the ideal mother. More admirable, funny and understanding than hers.
Nancy needs to be more up front about her feelings; just tell people what she’s thinking instead of muttering to herself. She’d feel better and others would be less likely to take advantage (of her) the way they do. Nancy is just too nice for her own good.
Bernice is much more annoying than Luann was yesterday. Bernice is actually butting in without asking. I wouldn’t mind having someone else do all the sorting of pieces. Turning them all over and separating the edge pieces takes a long time.
Ben, get your act together so Bernice can get her room back after all these years. Just kidding, I know they just want to constantly keep Bernice around Luann, plot wise. They need her to say crummy things to Luann all the time.
Different people have different approaches to working jigsaw puzzles. I don’t do puddles as much as I used to, but… my favorite approach for most puzzles is to work the “inner architecture” first. Where the land meets the sky; where the subject meets the background, that sort of thing. I often set the edge pieces aside and work them in last. It’s just more interesting to me that way. But I don’t get the satisfaction of putting that final piece in the middle. Anyhow, there isn’t just one way to work a jigsaw puzzle, and to each their own!
If we’re getting into the old “Does Nancy prefer Bernice over her own daughter?” argument, I shall now retreat into my sub-basement bunker until next Monday
I’m kinda surprised. I thought that Nancy would appreciate Bernice helping her. Then I figured, LuAnn would come back and feel left out. But Nancy seems to not want Bernice’s help.

Oooo.. Nancy is annoyed with Bernice. That’s a rare occurance.
I’m kinda sensing a pattern. My guess is Frank may be in tomorrow’s strip and does something that bugs Nancy.
Now if she really wanted to relax, Nancy should lay on the couch and read a treasury collection book of her favorite comic strip. ;)

Well, what did you expect, Nancy?
After all, Bernice is renowned for her ability to suck the “fun” out of just about EVERYTHING.
And isn’t it about time she moved back to HER home? ;-)

Do people really call puzzles jigsaws? I’ve always just called them puzzles or jigsaw puzzles. A jigsaw is something else completely.
