Good to see Luann making it through this arc with a cooler head than Bernice…they both need to meet someone who could actually like them back. Or does this establish that Bernice likes an unavailable guy because she doesn’t have to figure out a real relationship?
This isn’t a romance novel. Bernice knows and so do the readers. How many romance novels have the hero drop a bunch of kids off by the heroine’s place for baby-sitting only to have her best friend take care of the kids for her?
If Bernice said what Luann said to her, the readers in here would say she was being snarky. Now Luann is being snarky but I know many of you will come to her defense. Luann does snark at times. Yet they are still bffs. Time to move on from harping on Bernice about her snarkiness. A lot of times, Luann deserved them. Bernice does it more because she is verbose and obviously more intelligent while Luann is just a simple girl which is nothing wrong – she just is.
What I would have liked to have seen yesterday was Luann presenting Piro with a bill for her babysitting services. Something like a standard rate of $10/hr for one child. An additional $5 per hour per each additional child. For six kids that comes to $35 an hour. Plus a 10% surcharge for emergency services. for $38.50 per hour. Since waiting in hospitals can easily run to 6 hours so a bill of $321. What made Piro think he could get babysitting services for free?
If by keep in touch Piro means he wants to continue to drop his sibs off with no advance notice for some free babysitting, then I wouldn’t want him to “keep in touch”.
I can remember being that age (vaguely). You want to save the world and you’re not sure how to start. Experience will add to their character development
lvlax obviously works for the cartoonist, and constantly throws out stuff to keep you hooked. Note to Greg: you don’t need to keep us hooked through lvlax’s transparently jejune comments: we like Luann enough on our own and don’t need the “stay tuned!” nonsense.
Bernice is just intrigued with the idea of being with the “mystery man”.… But the novelty wears off.… Especially with the amount of baggage that he comes with.
I like how Luann is the one trying to bring Bernice down to earth and show real maturity. Piro will definitely come back to her, bput I don’t know if their relationship can become important or will continue to be like this weird thing. But Bernice will certainly always be able to count on Luann.
Every romance novel is the same: Lord Stephen Stereotype meets Lady Clarissa Cliche’. They whine about one d*mn thing after another for 300 pages and then they get married.
Piro is leaving Bernice in the “rear view mirror” LOL! If someone told me they would like to stay in touch I would translate that as don’t hold your breathe waiting for me to call.
My personal thought is, Bernice cleans up nicely, but, dating her, would be opening oneself up to being primarily a counseling challenge for her, with being a partner, coming in second.
All Piro does is use Bern. She broke RA rules for him. Listens to his drama, and he doesn’t reciprocate. Dumps his siblings on her (and Luann). And she enables all of it. As a psych major, she should realize what she is doing, but she doesn’t.

Looks like we won’t be seeing Piro again for a while. And yet Bernice is on Cloud Nine.
Piro won’t be proposing.. but I have a feeling that Alan may end up proposing to Luann. ;)
.
That’s definitely the end of this arc.. I wonder what’s in store for us on Monday??

Luann left such an impression on the kids that I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw them and maybe Piro sooner rather than later.

I suppose this arc is over, now. Wouldn’t be surprised if we’re back to the dorm-room drama next week.

Maybe, since he’s “in the Navy”, he will go off to command an aircraft carrier, or a SSBN, or a rowboat.

Bernice and Piro are codependent. She sees him as her ongoing pet psycho project, while he’s lapping up all the sympathy and taking advantage of it.

LuAnn’s bringing Bernice down to Earth!

One thing we’ve learned about Piro is that he is not a “Bad Boy,” so the girls should lose interest in him pretty quickly.

It COULD be a romance novel, if these two would just get a move on…

Well this IS a refreshing change of pace, Sorta.
Luann bursting Bernice’s “romantic balloons” for a change instead of the reverse.
And Lu’s doing it gently as opposed to Bern’s Bulldozer approach. ;-)

Aaaand everyone ends the arc right back where they started. Still, it’s nice to see Luann being the rational one for a change.
