Cal’s parents want to run the house like a Russian prison. No talking, no noise, just things to build character. They should have been spayed and neutered and just bought a goldfish

It is his dearest fantasy, that his parents only pretending to be boring.

But Calvin, that’s nothing compared to the real-life adventures of a patent lawyer.

Wow, it is great to have superhero parents. because when your father is a strong superhero you are never scared of anything, I never realized Calvin and Hobbes had a comic like the Incredibles, I wish we had more comics about his parents as superheroes.

Calvin caught his parents doing something he’s not supposed to see them do.

Go figure. Very symbolic.

I’m imagining in reality, Calvin turned the channel over to ‘Batman’.

My father, in particular, was my superhero. Mom might have been as well, but she was always at home, so I know she was never out saving the world from bad guys.

As I mentioned yesterday, today is the fourteenth anniversary of my Mum’s death so I am thinking about her a lot. I will also be thinking about her a lot next Sunday as this will be Mother’s Day here in the UK. I understand that Americans celebrate Mother’s Day after Easter but we Brits have Mother’s Day three weeks before Easter Sunday.

Hey! It ain’t your kid’s fault your lives are super boring!

By golly, Calvin put in a lot of focus clicking that remote in the third panel! One only sticks one’s tongue out when concentrating your hardest at the task at hand!

Mom and Dad’s lair is so high tech it has a reel-to-reel computer. That was a dinosaur even when the strip came out in 1995.

I also love the external air hose to supply air to start the jet car.

I wonder what the “D” stands for. Dyna-Dad?

Many of our parents were like this. Not to annoy other people is a valid lesson…but it never occurred to them to ask what was bothering us.

Yep, that happened to me once.

Many parents don’t recognize, and don’t know how to handle their child’s genius.

Calvin’s parent don’t measure up to his imaginary parents.

I was never THAT disappointed by my parents.

I wonder if they have a ‘safe word’.

Mom and Dad, be thankful for Calvin’s sigh. Only inanimate objects get permanent life in his imagination. You are real enough to snap him out of it.

Love this artist and Comic strip, Calvin and Hobbes really need to return.

I hope Calvin eventually found out that a good book can put him in exactly the sort of situations he was always dreaming up.

You know what’s also annoying, Dad? You and mom not having a secret crime fighting superhero identity.

I guess we might wish our parents were superheroes?

I wonder if Mom’s outfit is the same that Calvin once described to his teacher, saying that she went out and fought crime while he was in school. Mom showed Dad the letter from the teacher, and Dad just said. “Wow. Show me that outfit sometime.” (Mom looks pretty cool in her superhero outfit. Dad is sort of in shadow, but I get the impression of black boxers outside of his tights. Little baggy.)
