Thankfully, dogs also have souls (they must do as they’re capable of love) and so we’ll meet our four legged pals again.

    Cats too of course.

True story. One of the funniest episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show was “Chuckles Bites The Dust.” The writers and cast thought it was great, but the producers were afraid that putting the subject of death in a comedy show would be offensive.

After the show ran, most of the reactions were positive, but they did get a lot of hate mail as well. Most of the people who wrote had recently lost pets.

Illustrating the dual uses of the term is humorous and showing that the cartoonist had to lose his beloved dog to euthanasia too at some point makes the cartoon ok. It adds the weight of his own experience.

I recently lost my last cat. I’ve always had animals, large and small, but age and practicality tell me not to take on another. We still have one small young dog who is a joy, but I have to be fair to everyone. I’m sorry for your loss and I hope you’ll remember the good times.

My wife and I were Corgi companions for 16 years. If I’m interpreting this cartoon correctly, please accept our most sincere condolences. Our Bronwyn had to be put down because of long-standing kidney problems. The fact that she’d managed to put up with pain for some time, despite our best efforts to control it, didn’t make it any easier.

I consider euthanizing your pet when the time comes is the last loving thing you can do for them. Not letting them suffer. You should take on the pain, not them.

So Sorry Condolences. Our Furry Friends Are Part of Our Families. Lost two cats a year ago. Adopted another in June, he was Feral. They told me he fractious and not responsive to anyone. When he first saw me he started to stir in the cage and get all friendly. Yes he picked me. I’ve been volunteering at the shelter every week since I got him. Working with some of the other feral cats.
