Is it possible that Shelley herself might be in a ‘baby state of mind’ ? Will more characters start disappearing/dying off screen like they mostly have in the “Alley” ? That Flintheart kid is awful quiet for having been touted as a loudenboomer.
With the name “Kane Flintheart,” the poor kid has been consigned to a life of violent crime. I mean, look who’s raising him; this unfortunate lad is barely a year old and already has one of the most grim supervillain backstories I’ve ever seen.
As was said earlier, looks like we get a few days of seeing how other members of Tracy’s circle are doing at the moment….looks like all is well for now.
Forty Years Later: Don’t worry about me, Gettys! Don’t worry about me! I’m Kane Flintheart! I’m no cheap, crooked politician, trying to save himself from the consequences of his crimes! You’re going to Sing-Sing, Gettys! SIIIIING SIIIIIING! (With apologies to Orson Welles)
1-KANDI CANS: ♪♫ I WANNA GET DRUNK, GONNA MAKE IT CLEAR. I WANT ONE BOIBON, ONE SCOTCH AND ONE BEER! ♪♫
2-VITAMIN: That’s a strange choice for a lullaby but it seems to have worked!
KANDI CANS: No silly – that’s what I fed him!
3-…See how peaceful he sleeps? VITAMIN: Darn. I was hoping you were still breast feeding. drools at the thought
KANDI CANS: I am. I drank that 30 minutes before I fed him!
VITAMIN: So smart! It’s so hard to get laudanum these days! KANDI CANS: Not if you know the right people. Why do you think you fall asleep before you can act on your amorous intentions you old lech?
Awwww……Vitamin seems to be slipping into fatherhood quite nicely.Although he really should stop re-enacting “The Death Of Julius Caesar” as a bedtime story.
I’m still stunned they didn’t name the kid “Hamlet”.
A little tired of the negatory about these two. When Bogart met Bacall,he was thrice-divorced and 46.She was just reaching 18.It lasted.Bogie’s wife before Bacall was a raging alcoholic.Onceshooting was held up on one of Bogie’s pictures because she gave HIM a black eye that would show up on camera.Would be nice if we checked in on The Mole and his new familywhile we’re in a mellow mood.
Nice to see the Flintheart Family again, Vitamin, Kandikane, and little Kane. I do think, though, it’s a bit early to be speculating on Kane’s occupation once he has grown up. Besides, kids tend to resent parents who push them toward a certain career.
But I came here to see Tracy crush crime and to chew bubble gum, and I’m all out of bubble gum….
The writer seems to have a special fondness for VF who was a recurring character over the years. But so little for BO and Gertie who were constantly featured.
“Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)” was the first track on Side 2 of “More of the Monkees”. It was written by Neil Diamond, who also wrote the better-known album finisher on that same side, “I’m a Believer”, which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. That album also had two tracks written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart (“(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone”, which reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “She”), two by Mike Nesmith (“Mary, Mary” and, with Roger Atkins, “The Kind of Girl I Could Love”), one by Carole King and Gerry Goffin (“Sometime in the Morning”), and one by Neil Sedaka and Carole Bayer Sager, “When Love Comes Knockin’ (at Your Door)”. Some pretty formidable songwriting talent!
I’d love to know what “banned” words I supposedly used when I mentioned Rose Marie’s appearances on a certain actor’s sitcom from the 60’s, or, a tv game show that featured 9 celebrities in a tic tac toe board.
Intro (skip if you’ve already read any of the previous intros):
Hello, greetings, casual readers of past Tracy stories. I’m here because I’m on 2 missions. The first is something I’ve never done before, read each Tracy story by Mike Curtis (or his occasional guest writer) in one sitting each. I feel his stories are worth it. IMHO, Curtis is by far the best post-Gould writer this strip has ever had, and we’re all lucky to have him.
My second mission is to provide an immediately useful Featured Comment whenever needed. My 3 friends below will reply to me. You can read their replies if you like, but their only real purpose is to bump up this comment to the Featured Comment.
There are 2 basic types of immediately useful Featured Comments: the first type is to provide you with a Mumblespeak translator when needed. The other type (this type) is anytime that day’s strip quotes a real song. I will provide an html to a recording to that song so you’ll know the tune even if you’ve never heard it before.
End Intro
When I was first doing this, Neil Wick had provided an html link that made the Featured Comment so I didn’t have to do anything. Sadly, that link is now no longer available (youtube’s fault, not GoComics’ for once) so I have to come up with a new link and displace Neil’s Featured Comment through no fault of Neil’s own. Anyways, here’s the link:
