Tone-deaf Leslie would probably reply: “Of course you’re happy. I just asked you to be my girlfriend!”

Okay he told her but I hold out hope that there is more than telling him that fact, something that gets into both of their backgrounds, and helps Les, but maybe it will go dark too.

The other shoe …

Now we’ll see if Les really does love her by whether he shifts to friend-mode or whether he resents her for not being what he wants.

Leslie’s next line should be, “How gay are you? Where Do You Fall On The Kinsey Scale?”

Much tension for a while, now, about Leslie’s reactions. He could be caustic toward her over the issue, but may not. I’d be slightly more concerned that he might disparage her to others behind her back, and cause some kind of problems. In any event… I think she should return the necklace.

Pru is obviously the angelic sort that tries to help insecure people by showing them understanding and kindness. But she’d better be careful, because some sociopathic types can be dangerous, and all the more so if you let them get too close.

@WIZARDGOAT: I agree. Sure hope the others who work with her aren’t influenced by anything negative Les might say…

Well, the bomb has been dropped. We see the point of impact, but we’ll have to wait ’til tomorrow to hear the explosion and see the debris.

Les is actually putting his feelings – and his ego – on the line here. He seems to truly believe that being with Pru will help him become a better person. Unfortunately, he was trying to build this seemingly all-important relationship on lies, so it was doomed even without the added factor of Pru’s sexual preferences.

By the way, does anyone else have problems with pop-up SCAM ads on gocomics.com? This is the only site where I routinely get “answer this survey/get a thank yo gift” type ads, usually purportedly from my internet/wireless/computer company. My father answered one of these “surveys” once and got suckered into a scam that took quite a while to undo. I assume most anyone reading this knows not to respond to a pop-up survey request. I’m just wondering whether others are getting these pop-ups too, or if it’s just me…?

So we are still on the line deciding whether this miserable guy who has no friends deserves further punishment – or a break.

Pru is accusing Les for being dishonest, yet she is the one hiding her orientation (and very unbelieveble last sentence) and having no problem to receive expensive gifts and dinner from Les ! She is either very confused, maybe bi or she is the most selfobssesed person in this comic.

Arc is done. How about a new arc? Suggestion: Toni is pregnant.

Finally! Still amazed that he didn’t know this already after working with her for so long.

His reaction will be disbelief and possibly accusing her of just saying that to get out of dating him.

Pru really should have had this conversation after work when they were done dealing with customers. Now Les has to take the drink to Mrs. B and face her. It would have been much better to let him deal with his disappointment/anger when he could be alone.

If this were an animated cartoon, the next scene would have Les freeze solid and shatter like a pane of glass.

I have a feeling that many here are uncomfortable with the lesbian thing.

Everything is out in the open, where will it go from here?

If this was a Tex Avery cartoon, you would hear glass shattering and Leslie’s jaw would hit the ground.

Well PC sexual orientation disinformation continues. There are about five people in this strip and one is ‘gay’. 20% homosexual is less than my two youngest, early 30’s daughters guessed. I am pretty sure they are ‘straight’, if not, not my concern. They and 4 of 6 brothers and sisters were raised in crazed, old hippy households and have pretty clear heads about life in general, except for this…

Alternative next Les line: “Uh… you don’t mean as in ‘jolly,’ do you?”

Why did things have to turn out gay?

Such a shame…I was looking forward to the couple known as Les and Lesbian!

Contrary to what some others have said here, I think that Greg and Karen did a fine job of building up to this moment, steadily advancing to “the whammy,” so to speak. And the way it hits is with just a quick little “got to get this in edgewise before he says something else.” In an interesting way, that moment, combined with the build-up to it, actually gives the revelation more impact. Nice job. Now let’s see how Les takes it.

I don’t think Gunther’s Mom is going to get that iced tea!

Les is so focused on being accepted as a boyfriend, he is having a hard time listening to Pru. I can imagine it’s taking a few for her words to soak in. I don’t think he’s going to accept this news very well either. He will look at it as HER fault, leading him on, making him spend the money on the necklace and dinner.

“Minor details.”

Talk about beating a dead horse.

Perhaps Piro is asexual. But I don’t see how that would riveting arc.

That iced tea is really melting … and for some reason the ice is all at the bottom of the glass?!

And Les has an ego so big that he believes if she spends one night with him, he can make her forget being with other women….

And we have a wreak in turn four as Les hits the wall!

Nice cliff hanger although I wish there would have been a fourth panel showing some kind of reaction from Les. It just seems like a natural progression. You would still have a cliff hanger the last drawing is him with his mouth open kinda low impact given what just took place IMHO.

Well, tomorrow’s strip should be interesting. Unless Greg shifts the arc.

He did not lie about going on a date with Pru. He asked her out to dinner, she accepted. He even called it a Date. If she is supposed to be so observant she surely would have known it was a date.

Must be really hard up for a story line. Relating to the LBGTQ agenda is something the “new” Disney might do, but, please, keep it out of what’s otherwise a good family comic strip.

“See, Pru, we have that in common, too! I get happier by the minute myself when you’re coy like this.”

Apropos of nothing, but the musings on sexuality made me think of it…. Some weeks ago I saw a car with a vanity license plate that read “BIGALS”. The driver and passenger were adult females. It took me a second to realize that the plate was probably meant to be read as “Big Al’s.” And the DMV in this state is so vigilant not to allow a vanity plate that could be interpreted in any problematic way, I’m surprised it made it through the approval process.

FINALLY Pru told him. It took long enough.

It did take Pru a while to get to the point that Leslie needed to hear, but she did indeed choose to give him that important information. I am glad that Pru decided to be that open with Leslie. I think it will be easier in the long-run for him than a vague, non-explanatory reason why. That Pru did reveal her orientation to Les makes me feel that she is even more empathic than I had previously thought. She did not really have to do that level of revelation, but she selected to. Very nice.

I am hoping that Les responds in a positive way here. Yes, he may very likely become red-faced, but I am hoping it is from embarrassment, not anger.

In a “good world” scenario, I can envision Les getting embarrassed and tongue-tied at first, but then actually becoming more of an open person himself, at least to Pru, and he experiences a lot of emotional growth.

In a “bad world” scenario, of course, all manner of hell could break loose, and all sorts of unpleasant things could be said or could happen. But I am hoping that is not the route that Greg decides to use as he steers this story further.

Pru bombs Les like Pearl Harbor!

The faces of Leslie Knox…. Panel 1: angry and almost sneering; Panel 2: eager and puppy dog like, almost innocent; Panel 3 the ‘wheeler-dealer’ Leslie Knox. As for tomorrow, I think Leslie will be sort of shell-shocked. Pru will say that she is happy to be a friend just not a ‘girlfriend’. Can Les accept regular friendship? In some ways he has to since he already stated that he and Pru are soulmates. How can he pull back on that?

So much speculation!

I’m just going to “tune in” tomorrow.
