Okay, today is Friday and it gotta be the last strip for this arc tomorrow so I believe Tiffany and Les will whip out their cell phones that are recording everything and we will again see Ann’s flabbergasted face. I don’t think the arc will continue past tomorrow so it gotta be the closure where Ann knows she is going to jail.
Like others have speculated, the only way this wraps up believably with Ann leaving is if Tiffany is recording all this. Otherwise, Ann is right, Tiffany’s dad isn’t gonna believe her and will just think she’s doing it to get attention.
Maybe I’m the only one, but there’s something about Anne that I actually like. Confident? Lands on her feet like a cat? Knows what she wants and knows how to get it? At least Anne’s unpredictable…and NOT BORING.
we’ve noticed before how Tiff has kept her coat on the whole time- possible hiding of any recording devices- but with Ann putting hers on, it seems so prominently featured and drew my eyes to the action. Yep, I’m hoping for a big “reveal” when the coat comes off
we’ve noticed before how Tiff has kept her coat on the whole time- possible hiding of any recording devices- but with Ann putting hers on, it seems so prominently featured and drew my eyes to the action. Yep, I’m hoping for a big “reveal” when the coat comes off
The real victim in all this will end up being Prudence, who was the one who took on this lingerie party in the first place in order to cover the losses she had from her failing theater program.
In order for Ann to blame her supplier; there has to be a supplier and she has to identify him. If she got her merchandise from Wal Mart that will not be easy to do.
Again we see Ann’s ability to shed a tear on command.
And team Evans has set it up so skillfully that there isn’t a clue today about what will happen tomorrow, and if it will be the last day of the arc, or if it continues.
“When I tell my dad” is probably a lie from Tiffany, used to misdirect Ann to get her to make that little speech.
If Tom Farrell is not standing outside the door, we can end the real time portion to this arc with Ann handing Tiffany back her phone exactly when we hear from the phone,
“No need for Tiffany to tell me anything. I’ve been on FaceTime for over an hour.”
And what happens after that, Tiffany can tell the details as a flashback to everyone at the dorm—if they weren’t there in the parking lot.
Tiffany’s father probably dated Simone, how else would Tiff get to know her so personally. If she is witness via the face time on the phone, I am sure that would be all the help she would need.
TJ already exploited the phone recording trick on Ann to the max. It would be very unsatisfying for me to see Ann taken down the same way twice. Ann is too interesting…
Have we ever ascertained who Tiffany’s mother is? Maybe it’s Simone? Or as someone commented earlier, could be Tiffany’s father either dated her or maybe is an investor?
Continuing the tradition of never getting everything right…..
“So,” Ann says while handing Tiffany her phone, “turn on your phone and call your dad.”
Tiffany, still looking as if she is watching a small child who has just raided the cokie jar and now says that somebody else took the cookie, states, “The phone was never turned off.”
And from the phone we hear Tom say, “How can you not tell the difference between real and fake Soufle Lingerie when I bought you so many examples while we were in Paris.”
Tiff is still keeping a calm face – she isn’t done with Ann yet. There’s still some ammo that she has kept in reserve. Despite everything that has happened to prove the contrary, Ann seems to imagine Tiff and Les are a couple of silly teens she can easily tackle. Hope this arc continues into the next week with some proper closure for us all!
It’s a sound strategy. There are literally millions of fake bags and clothing items at flea markets. It’s very rare that a vendor is on the receiving end of legal action. It’s the manufacturer you want to shut down.
When I said, “Please let Tiffany be recording” I meant as “Hey, maybe she went to the police first and they put a wire on Tiffany to catch Ann in the act,” because what Ann is doing is against the law. That’s all.
Tomorrow, I want to see a panel of a male silhouette in the background. Tom has been here all along, listening. And tells Ann, “We’re THROUGH”. Final panel would be “Dad” and Tiffany hugging (?) or looking at each other with a new love and respect. Nah, don’t put any money on this.
Wait for it, waaait!! Tiffany has the knockout blow up her sleeve, or rather at the end of of her methaphorical fist. Something that Ann has not been expecting, and all of us can only speculate about. This particular arc should end tomorrow, OR, we are left with Les’s uncle marrying Gunther’s mom, and the two young men living in a guest house built by Les’s uncle, and Tiffany having to endure having Ann Eiffel as a possible mother-in-law. Nah, can’t happen. Tiffany will never let Ann get in between her, and her dad, and her inheritance.
Don’t think Ann’s going to win this one – she’s bluffing big time and there are too many people who have been swindled for evil to triumph over justice – Tiff has to have another ace up her sleeve, can’t wait for the big reveal…….
That sob act might help Ann with Daddy, but not with the legal system. Selling knock-offs as the genuine article is still a felony if you claim you didn’t know. Otherwise, it would be too easy to avoid prosecution. Tiffany needs to go legal and avoid the personal.
Quick reminder for the four or five commenters who want Tiffany to have taped the conversation. In California, taping is illegal unless both participants agree to it. Now, on the other hand, Les might agree to testify against his mom. More to the point, there are numerous customers, like Dez, who are in possession of the fake merchandize and can testify about it.
For myself; I have enjoyed this arc as it has developed. I’m also a fan of Tiffany’s growth. I must point out to anyone who will listen: Never come between a man and the woman he is sleeping with; she wins every time!
Today I see the potential for two distinct routes in how the story may continue to unfold. Both routes are based upon the rather “dramatic” story Ann has espoused so vividly:
1) [My preferred route] – Greg has had Ann loudly proclaim her intentions to Tiffany on how to wiggle out of this merely as a way to let us, the reader know of her intentions. In this route, there are no hidden microphones, running cell phones, etc. that some are predicting. The cat-and-mouse game can then continue and we can see how the story is perceived by Tom Farrell. Again, in this idea…. Ann’s proclamation is really for the benefit of the readers understanding.
2) [My non-preferred route] – Greg has foolish Ann loudly proclaim her intentions to Tiffany specifically so there can be some sort of “gotcha” secret microphone or phone recording. For me, having the arc end in this fashion…. where Ann (so very stupidly) outlines her full plan and intentions…. so that they can easily be foiled in this way seems far too trite an ending for Greg to produce. I think he has a far more believable and yet unanticipated outcome (at least I hope so).
In the last panel, Less says, “that was pretty good…” setting up the first panel tomorrow where Tom steps out of the kitchen and says, “…but it wasn’t good enough.”
Unless Tiffany is recording this, and even if she is, recordings in the real world are not admissible in court, Tiffanys father with side with Anne because she’s sleeping with him and if he sides with Tiffiany and makes Anne mad, he won’t get any more ahem “affection”. Tiffany loses.
Eiffel is not attractive and hasn’t been in many years. To someone with any depth, the spell of a bad girl wears off in much less time than Eiffel’s been appearing in this strip. She’s not this anymore—http://www.gocomics.com/luann/2002/03/04 ; she’s only a sleazy parasite who haunts low-end management jobs. Is there something all that alluring about a fast-food restaurant manager?
Obviously, Ann is aware that this is the weekend for the Academy Awards. Either that, or the Easter ham arrived early this year. Whatever, she looks good and poor Tiff looks not ready for the red carpet.
So many vigilantes on this site. Reminds me of my former boss and his wife – hard core Republicans. They said today’s movies are bad because they don’t clearly identify the evil characters and make sure in each case that they are punished. " This could be confusing for children." So it is – that some of you think Ann is pure evil and should be put in the slammer until she’s old and gray. Please remember that Ann got over 600 responses when she showed up a year ago – she’s entertaining! (and I don’t think pure evil – just nasty).
As I could sense, it is turning into a cat fight. Big mistake Tiff!!! bringing your dad into this. It is not the smooth job (now) that you thought it would be.
Les admits his mom is a convincing actress. Maybe she should be in plays there instead of selling fake Souffle. I still think Tiff’s phone is still on and Madame Souffle is hearing it all. Or, maybe half of the Luannaverse is hiding behind a wall or curtain and will all march out and shout SURPRISE!, just like a surprise birthday party.
Please dear god tell me Les was secretly recording the whole thing through the security cameras or something. This woman needs to be behind bars. She’s an unrepentant evil little B…it affects me a bit since my mother is named Ann and has black hair, but is the polar opposite.
One must credit Ann Eiffel with being a quick thinker-stinker. With Leslie as the Voice of the Impartial Observer, it might seem as though Annie has found a fatal flaw in Tiffany’s planned revenge. Or is there indeed a Big Reveal in store for us in tomorrow’s installment of As the Worm Churns? Stay ’tooned!
i just realized the obvious: if Eiffel goes to jail as everyone but me expects, it won’t matter that Mr. Farrell believed her. Tiffany will still be rid of her.
hmmm … all this talk of due punishment etc. for various crimes and misdemeanors leaves me wondering exactly WHERE Greg will come down on this perpetrator legally /morally. He’s had a mixed history dealing with such things. Dirk, for example, did get hauled away by police for assault on Brad at one point, until he turned his life around. But Les got away with lots of petty shakedowns and bullying as a younger version.
So could it be that despite all the talk about jail, etc., that Greg would allow Ann to escape any formal justice simply by giving up doing that particular scam? Will all the defrauded people be “water under the bridge” so-to-speak?
I can guess what Mordy would opine … he’s been noticeably absent today ( from both boards) ..hope he’s OK.
I wonder if Tiffany is seeing what she could have grown up to be like, given how she was in high school, and is glad she didn’t. Sometimes it’s good to see a bad example clearly.
I still can’t figure out why Tiffany is wearing gloves the whole time. I guess it’s to avoid leaving fingerprints, but why? Leaving her coat and scarf on is maybe to hide recording devices, but why the gloves?
Ann’s a snake…and I hope Tiffany has another cell phone (she said she had 4 before the party started) and she’s still recording what Ann said. That would be SWEET!!
