So GnK have selected the shift to the Fuse option I mentioned yesterday. Perhaps they will broaden the discussion of the seeming breakup among more of the Fuse related characters. Should be interesting!
As mentioned by @Ruth Brown, Ox does look like he has a problem. Since he saw the ongoing argument between Bets and Tiffany, and the way Gunther reacted, he has probably realized why Les’s ‘roomie’ is a ‘moody mess’. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Ox showed up to try to help Gunther…
Tired of the „whiny Gunther“ comments already. Though G&K aren’t helping things one bit. Monday, this arc looked interesting, as in, maybe we were about to hear Les’ side of the story of his date with the now infamous Bets. But no, as Mordock pointed out yesterday, we get to catch Les in a regression and, having moved away from the Den of Despair (my name for the Gulag), we decrease the chances of finding out what went on between Gunther and Bets.
Someone who insists on posting info online about what their ‘partner’ considers private (and is unhappy about that posting) can certainly be seen as a bully…
I’m guessing the “oh” is “oh, that makes sense given who Bets is with out in the dining area” or some such. But, then, I think I am batting approximately 0.000 with my predictions.
I like the change of scenery. Enough of Gelatinous Gunther.
Those who suggested yesterday that Les might be involved in reconciling Bets and Gunther had a good idea. Les is also in a position to be involved in reconciling Bets and Tiffany. I don’t think Let will consciously try to bring these three clowns together, but he can let fly with his snarky opinions. I can’t see Les reaching out to Bets. Either Les will run into Bets in a Monstro-is-sick level coincidence, or Tiffany will reach out to Bets.
Maybe this will lead Ox to visit Gunther and talk to him about unrequited love… HOORAY! That would be wonderful ♡! Or more simply, Ox will tell Tiffany and she will visit Gunther OR, thinking she’s the cause of their breakup, she will try to do something by calling her ex-friend Bets to ask her what’s going on.
G&K have written Les into a tolerable character. Since Les now appears to have a level head, is motivated to work, then it seems like they should grow the character, have him take some community college vocational courses, and get ahead in life.
Love the Les Life Attitude! Keep it simple, focus on the here and now, don’t sweat the small stuff. Ox is concerned because he knows what a fiasco the romantic dinner was and realizes it caused a problem. Being a gentle soul, he will be wanting to help. I wonder who he will tell? If he tells Tiffany she might end up with Gunther and that would break his heart.
Ox has no idea that Gunther has a specific problem. Just that Gunther is a mess and moody. That sounds like the way Gunther always seems, to Ox, anyway. Why would Ox pass this information on to anyone else? Ox should ask Les if something is wrong with Gunther.
I’m with Les, strangely enough. When there’s something chaotic and stressful I just can’t take anymore, I love doing the dishes. They don’t argue, cleaning them is straightforward, and when I’m done, I’m done.
Seriously? He is the only dishwasher? That is not even close to reality.
My wife owned a village tavern for 30 years. She had 6 waitresses along with 2 cooks besides herself and 2 dishwashers, one one worked breakfast to lunch, other from lunch to closing along with a large steam cleaning automatic dish washer. The food she cooked was so good that people had to make reservations. Even for breakfast. She has an 1845 recipe for pancakes that is still the best pancakes I have ever eaten anywhere
Les had experienced loads of personal growth over the years. The “new Les”still seems smarmy, rude, and cynical. But, he’s a hard worker, a loyal but somewhat obnoxious friend, and in some ways, an anchor for the others. His opinions are often delivered in a sneering and snide manner, but I think they are, generally, on the mark. It’s often difficult to argue with his message. He also minds his own business.
Not sure when his shift starts, but that’s a lot of dishes.Looking at Ox’s expression, I wonder if he, too, needs/wants advice from Dr. Les? Les might rent Lucy’s booth. Last we saw Ox was having dinner with his heartthrob, Tiffany, who doesn’t seem interested in him. So we have two with unrequited loves. Hmmm, maybe three with Nil/Bernice or four with Monstro. He was feeling a bit unloved as well! ;-)))
When I worked in food service in high school, I LOVED doing pots and pans. I was getting paid to stand there and meditate. Having your hands in the water continuously seemed to help the whole meditative process.
Plus as a bonus, if the right cook was on duty, he would cook the dish washer a nice steak dinner and a glass of wine.
I can understand Les’ choice to a degree. He is not an overtly emotional person, and so perhaps dealing with his emotions and/or the emotions of others is not something he is psychologically well suited for. And, at the same time, I also am not sure if Gunther is really looking for a discussion with anyone who is not Bets at this point…. or if his statements are simply meant rhetorically.
But, it would have been interesting to see Les try to help…. I think it would be more revealing of his own character.
Ox, on the other hand, Ox tends to be considerably more empathetic and emotionally intuitive. The big question, is…. a) will Ox talk about what he knows (to Les) about having occurred at Tiffany’s house, b) will Ox perhaps try to go to the Gulag to talk with Gunther, or c) might he attempt to contact Bets with this information (or perhaps involve Tiffany to have her inform Bets)?
Let’s look at the relationship between Bets and Gunther from Gunther’s viewpoint. He finally found someone that valued him for his talents—sewing, cosplay. After years of people making fun of him, he thought he’d found someone who wanted to be around him for stuff HE did. I mean his last girlfriend almost had him move to a country whose language he didn’t speak, trying to help people he didn’t understand. So of course she seemed like an ideal girlfriend. She, on the other hand, only saw him as a kind of sewing machine. Tiff, however, doesn’t seem to understand that you have to do what your customer wants, not what you want. So neither of the women has got their shit together. The result was poor Gunth got walked all over and is trying to figure out what HE did wrong, which was in fact nothing. Just being himself.

Well at least Les and Ox are (now) getting along.
Hard to believe that this is the same Les Knox that told his Uncle Al back in 2016, that Ox (Snort) “bullied him” in high school.
Now Les and Oxford are all “palsy-walsies.”
Speaking of “pals,” Gunther and Ox were pretty tight back in the high school days.
Ox once put Les and his mom Ann Eiffel in their perspective places.
Perhaps Ox could offer Gunther a sympathetic ear.
And Ox hates “bullies.”
One could make an argument that Bets has been a bit of a “bully” lately.
(Okay. That’s a stretch)
Or maybe Gunny is on his own with this one.
Could be that all that’ll happen is an unknowing Gunther being the subject of Fuse gossip for the rest of the week.
He’s on his own. That might be a good thing. Gunther depending on himself and nobody else for a change.
Maybe Gunny will quit being everybody’s doormat and stop being so damned “affable.”
But don’t bet the mortgage on it……..,
