Sooo… Bernice kisses Nil and is embarrassed and all floaty from a simple touch on the shoulder from Jack. Poor Nil, he is only one level above Gunther in her mind and heart.

It would have been fun to see Bernice have this conversation with Tara – Tara would have had some zingy replies.

When Bernice says “not fun as in”, was she going to say not fun as in being with you. Looks like Nil is a place holder until Jack comes around. I do hope the fish is ok. Bernice never did answer when Jack asked her. Maybe she was flustered trying to let Jack know it wasn’t too serious with Nil and she was still out there and available.

I think what Bernice really meant to say was “I can relate”. She was getting a bit squirmy there herself.

I love how Jack is able to calm people down and not judge them. He’s a totally positive figure♡. I still thinks all the things Bernice said about Nil sound pretty offensive and completely unfair. But it seems like Jack thinks she doesn’t really mean what she said and she speaks like that out of embarrassment. Max is so cute ♡. Bernice probably envy his being hold for long time by Jack.

This whole week, GnK has been shown to be troubled with issues of “y’know.” It’s apparent that Jack’s touch made more than Max “squirmy.” I have a feeling that this episode will be a one off and we’ll be on to something else next week. Nothing has run for more than two weeks in a row for some time now. So how will this park bench episode wrap up in the next couple of days? Will Bernice come to some internal decision re “y’know?” Or will someone show up to share her bench? Nil? Luann? Or will she return to her room and have a long talk with Monstro?

After palling around with Luann for, what, 15 years or more, I’m surprised Bernice is still so up-tight.

Not sure I understand this storyline. I mean I see what’s going on and I get it, it’s just not making a whole lot of sense.

Please don’t send her to Nancy again for advice. I shudder to think what book would be recommended to advise Bernice on how to two time her boyfriend with his best friend. Oh wait..it happens all the time doesn’t it?

however, this is the first time i’ve ever seen Jack touch anyone even if it is just in conversation, on the shoulder. And he keeps his hand there for some time; he didn’t have to do this to make his point. Has he ever touched Luann casually like this?

Bernice was born in the wrong century and Karen seems to be obsessed with period romance stories because this is definitely a 19th century story line! That a reassuring touch on the shoulder should be taken so seriously is old school for sure. Back in the day, physical contact like that would have almost been a marriage proposal. Now she’s going to make it into something more (in her manic little brain) than just the friendly gesture it was. She does, however, need to be honest with herself and break up with Nil. She is undeniably attracted to his best friend and it would be incredibly sleazy to keep seeing/making out with him. That’s a good thing, because Nil is really weird

Okay, we had a Luann story arc that went nowhere two weeks ago. A Brad and Toni story arc that ended with the continuation of the status quo last week. This week we are treated to the dating dilemmas of the strips most unlikeable character. Methinks they are in a creative rut and can’t think of a way out of it.

For some reason the deemphasis of Luann (ya know, the title character) and the sheer amount of effort that has gone into Bernice over the past year or so seems to just scream that Karen is driving the storylines…and she’s not good at it.

Just because she is the creators daughter doesn’t make her creative. It probably skipped a generation. Luann used to be the comic I ended my perusal of GoComics with because it was the best one. Now Chickweed Lane has taken that spot. Lets face it, the creepy (possibly telepathic) twins of Edda and Amos and way more interesting then Bernice. I look forward to the day when Luann is my favorite again.

It’s unfair of Bern to make-out with Nil when she clearly still has the hots for Jack. It is also unfair that G&K have given Bern the most storylines this past year, seeing that the strip is called, “Luann.” Bern has 2 guys to dream about and Luann has nothing going on. Tsk.

Bernice getting laid would be good for her overall well-being.
