    OOOooohhh
Luann is writing poetry about Phil and his gloves. Looks like we may have a Love Connection . :)

So, where did the long piece of wood go that was vertically next to the Sweethearts sign 2 days ago?

Gloves. At least they’re using protection.

    Don’t knock Luann’s efforts.

    “Folks” love “finding tales.”

Which is probably why “Finding Nemo” was such an inexplicable “hit.” ;-)

Phil looks puzzled. Is it too much to ask for a male character in this comic strip (besides Nil) to show some interest in art or music or literature? Even if it’s just Gilbert & Sullivan or Robert Frost?

Why is Phil wearing gloves when he’s not preparing food or giving patients a medical treatment? Nurses don’t wear gloves all the time.

Old-fashioned ladies’ gloves? That happens to be one of countless abstract fetishes a former friend of mine has.

Lu is embarrassed by Mrs. Horner’s perceptive perspective of the true meaning of the “Gloves” poem a methaphor for how Luann approaches love. That seems true in panel three. How do we get from Phil’s “old-fashioned love” idea to perhaps his recognition that Luann, being a hopeless romantic, might fit within his equally romantic vision? Arc time might tell.

Poets have complained that only 4 words in English rhyme with ‘love’, ‘shove’ ‘dove’ ‘glove’ and ‘above’. The French and Spanish don’t have that problem. Which is why there are so many songs about the moon.

The long piece of wood was actually the door to a room. They are standing in what appears to be a corner. At any rate they are definitely standing at a different place than the entrance door, since they were discussing the art in the previous strip. And why on earth would there only be one sign?

Here’s a new game, take a shot every time Phil says “old-fashioned”. Evanses are beating this into our heads, perhaps setting up a failed romance between modern creative woman Luann and old-fashioned Phil.

How I hoped the fact that Luann is taking a poetry class is giving more opportunities to read her poems, HOORAY! Phil seems to have figured out that the poem is about their meeting, let’s see if it’s really a love poem or maybe Mrs. Horner has read too much into it. But seeing Luann’s embarrassment it could really be about love.

Can’t wait to hear this. And the ‘gloves’ are like the ones Phil wears, not Mrs. Horner, I’ll bet.

It’s pretty obvious now that Greg’s drawing gloves on Phil even at inappropriate times (which many readers noticed) was his method of foreshadowing
 bringing us here.

Speaking of gloves, why is Phil still wearing “latex” gloves? Ridiculous. “Old” ladies were young once and wearing cotton gloves with a stylish outfit was the norm. Formal wear and British royalty still favor gloves. Another social nicety that has been lost with consideration and politeness.
