It’s been done, at least twice that I know of: Science Fiction. One almost exactly like this but without the “tribal elder” bit; the other “something disgusting” but as a tribal story of creation.
Of course Danae wasn’t doing “science” she was doing “sociology”. Or just “story collection”.
This is hilarious. As soon as she says “so I went to the oldest person I know” I was laughing. An unusual, but not unwelcome, strip that combines Danae and Eddy.
Danae, you did the research, a little flawed, but your methodology wasn’t so your grade should be a passing one and for a child your age, very creative.
You can do this experiment at home, kids. Fill your bathtub with warm water, add some sewage and wait. You’ll be amazed at what grows in that soup. guiliani worms, pence sludge, conway suckers and the apex creature, the trump slug. Please wash you hands when done.
That’s like a Stanilaw Lem short story about two space travelers, Gord and Lod, contaminating a planet with their spit, only to later give rise to humanity. I think it’s the Intergalactic Congress and it is in the collection the cyberiad. The origin story is brought to light as Earth tries to gain membership
GASP!!!, Its her! Look at the fish on the left side, its my third grade teacher miss Julian!! I’d know that face anywhere! I knew there was something fishy about her eyes!.
All things came into existence, where and when we do not know. All things will cease to exist, when we do not know. As I age I realize, I will some day cease to exist, when I do not know, nor do I care to!Life is a journey to be lived and I intend to live it as long as I can!
The “Christians”-the ones always protesting the teaching of Evolution-think that a “god”-and actual person/race of “people” are the ones who created life on earth. So Danae, at least according to the hyper xristians who believe that the world is only 5000 years old and Dinosaur bones were planted by this same"group" is correct
Bruno Bozzetto’s 1976 Italian animated film Allegro Non Troppo (musical direction for “fast but not too fast”) is a takeoff on Disney’s Fantasia in that it’s an anthology of fantastical short stories (many of them humorous) that also makes extensive use of classical music as background. The relevant point here is that the film starts with a visiting flying saucer chucking out an almost-empty bottle of Coke® whose residue evolves into our entire ecosystem. Well worth a rental.
That’s how the ‘Cambrian Explosion’ got started, according to a Si-Fi story about 40 years ago, except in the story the aliens buried their waste, but not well enough.

It’s not like Eddy made this up, it’s an old theory, The World According to Glump.

Well I can think of older sources – nevertheless Danae’s take seems about as legitimate as most of ’em.

Based on recent events, I find much credence in this theory. Stinky is as stinky does … or something like that.

Actually Stanislav Lem wrote a story about life on Earth coming into existence due to pollution in the 1960s or 1970s
