“The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men gang aft a-gley”. Or, perhaps, “No plan of battle survives contact with the enemy” – either will do … Not that there was a ‘plan’ as such in the first place.

My mother knew all of the shortcuts. After awhile, I learned to ignore them as her “shortcuts” usually added about 20 minutes to the travel time.

It is indeed faster, for the plumet on the first half. A bit of a slog dragging yourself along with a broken leg and a cracked rib or two for the second half.

Judging from the first frame, it would appear it would not be far from his feet to the ground if he was indeed dangling there.

You never hear anything about Lassie these days. I wish they would bring her back, but then again, they would probably make her a cat or a panda, soooo, maybe not.

A page from ‘The Adventures of Cat Lassie’, on YouTube. Except Cat Lassie would have gone home, eaten, and fallen asleep without letting anyone know Eddie was in trouble.

Reminds me of a female friend who liked to lampoon the “dumb blond” stereotype. She would tell about the time she started to walk around a lake but got too tired halfway around and decided to walk back.

I spent eight months walking two hours a day in the redwoods with two magnificent cats. They would become concerned when I got too out of breath and had to take a break. They would patiently wait with me, sometimes panting themselves, before continuing on. Cats vary at least as much as human beings.
