Seeing a therapist is one thing. Marrying one is a whole different ballgame.

Rat has a similar reasoning as I do for why I don’t need a psychic.

I figure that if I ever need a psychic, I don’t need to call one. Any psychic that is any good will call me.

Since I have never been called by a psychic, I don’t need one.

In the 80’s, in the Howard the Duck comic, there was a supporting cast character, a young girl (who talks with a lisp), and if remember correctly, breaks out a random scream. She said, “It’s vewy thewaputic. It keeps people away in dwoves”

Goat, what do you suggest? Everybody ask a therapist whether they need a therapist?

So many people refuse to get routine, periodic checks for fear they discover something they don’t want to know. As if not knowing means the cancer/cavity/cholesterol/high blood pressure don’t exist. Ignorance is bliss, I guess…

Correct. Rat and The Count do not need to see a therapist because everyone who does not agree with us is crazy.

The only people who ever become therapists are people who have needed to go through therapy themselves. Not who I would pick if I had issues!

I’ve always been disturbed by the fact that “therapist” is spelled “the rapist.” I’m in therapy because of it.

Going to therapy makes you think you need a therapist, because your therapist really needs to go see a therapist…

People who see therapists need mental help.

Some people need help. Unfortunately, therapy has become a fad lately, sometimes even a status symbol, a waste of time and money.

I think that it’s goat’s logic that is impeccable.

There are people who need therapists. A colleague of mine lost a nephew to suicide a month ago, and he took it very hard. He had a total meltdown in public just a few days afterward. He needed a therapist.

But the idea that everyone needs a therapist is nonsense, on par with the idea that everyone needs a Sherpa, even those with no plans to leave Kansas.

Gotta watch out for the rapists.

Therapists create the need for themselves.

I lived in Marin County for ten years. My wife eventually completed a graduate program and became a psychotherapist. Everyone in Marin County that I encountered was either a therapist, seeing a therapist or wondering loudly why I was not seeing a therapist. :) :(

I’ve seen a total of 14 therapists over the years. Apparently, I needed 15.

Perhaps most of us don’t need a therapist. That’s what’s often referred to as “normal”.

Ok. I know you have Biden, Trump and Harris, along with their hangers on who vary from almost rational to absolutely rabid, ranting, out there obliviots but I just don’t get the American obsession with therapists?What came first? The therapists or the idiocy?
