Try the hat indeed! my girls prefer boots. I love Pucky’s tongue stuck out to catch the delicacies falling from the mittens!

Interesting! I have never seen this from my cats, but we have not had snow, children and cats at the same time.

OZ might beat up the mittens when they’re dry.

My Monroe would likely carry them around, beating them up periodically to keep them in submission.

Mom used to let us run around for hours in the snow. We would come in, soaked, hungry, and exhausted. Of course, Mom’s ulterior motive was that we would go to be earlier and sleep longer, thus allowing Dad and her some peace and quiet.

A clever and tricky woman she was.

This is what I was talking about last week. Snow tends to contain more than just water. They do make it look incredibly refreshing, though!

So true. Though i agree on the boots. We would just lay the gloves on the hearth. Warm and water!

I like to see wet clothes at home

    All dripping from above

    Cats beneath lappin’ thirstily

    From mittens, hats and gloves

I like to see the cats all drink

    In perfect harmony

I’d like to hold them in my arms

    And keep them company

I like to see the cats for once

    Enjoy a ’freshment stand

And hear licks echo despite buzzkill

    Of gravel mittens panned

    There’s real joy that’s there

    Pass it along

    See cats smile today

    Over and over

    La, la, la, la

To, do, do, do, do, do

    La, la, la

    It’s a kitty thing

Burt Bacharach and Hal David: Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head

Snow drops keep melting on the floor,

They bring tasty water with just a little more

    Delicious H₂O

Those snow drops keep melting on the floor, they keep melting.

    …….

So I just waited patiently by the line

The mittens are a bit gravelly but still taste mighty fine

    The hats are A-Okay!

Those snow drops keep melting on the floor, they keep melting.

    …….

And there’s one thing I know,

The snow melt is one reason I love this season,

I don’t mind the cold at all, ‘cause no one’s freezin!

    …….

Snow drops keep melting on the floor,

They bring tasty water with just a little more

    Vintage like sweet wine!

Just keep on bringing on the snow, I’ll keep singing

    I have my friends

    And contentment without end!

    Meanwhile, Back on the Nile

Elvis-Anum: I have an idea for your Multicolored Mayhem routine. Each cat gets their own song, and you all come together for the Grand Finale.

Lupinium: Kind of a Final Thwump, so to speak.

Elvis: Yes. I’ve invited Louie-Nour and made sure he knows what’s coming.

Lupinium: Good thinking. Have you spoken to Thomios about refreshments?

Elvis: Yes. The Royal Procurers have already delivered delicacies from Parts Unknown.

    Sometime Later

Lupinium: I have a list of songs I think will suit for the performance.

Elvis: But these haven’t been written yet!

Lupinium: Don’t worry. I know someone who can provide the lyrics for us.

Elvis: Don’t tell me you’re going to break the Fourth Wall again!

Lupinium: Why not? I’ve broken just about everything else around here!

I don’t remember any of my pets enjoying dripping mittens and hats. I think my life has missed something now (as I watch Smudge and the Marshmallow Mouse sleeping on the back of the couch); then again, maybe not.

    First panel: deadpan.

    Third panel: acute catliness …

    Fourth pane: GUFFAW!

Gramma would spend all year knitting mittens of various sizes from left over knitting projects. Mom would put the box of them in the garage when we were thrown outside to play (children ARE outside animals) along with a laundry basket. When our mittens, or the gang we played with mittens got too wet and snowy they would be deposited in the laundry basket, and a pair (didn’t matter if they matched, they were dry mittens) was pulled on. When we went inside all the mittens would go in the dryer with all the rest of the damp clothes. If our friends took home our mittens, we usually had theirs. At the end of the season, all mittens that weren’t ours would be put on the driveway, and everyone who had our mittens would bring them back and claim theirs. That is why there were three pairs hanging there.

This is similar to the mystery of why my water (or tea, or whathaveyou) in the glass beside me is more delicious than the water in my kitty’s special, fancy, stainless steel, filtered, whisper-quiet water fountain.

    And in other news…

I finally got a bigger litter box! It’s 2 to 4 inches bigger than the old box in all dimensions, with 9-inch high walls! And so far the kitties aren’t kicking the litter out of the box. Huzzah!

One of my kids tells me his cat’s litter box has a one-way entrance on the side. The exit is out the top so the litter falls off the cat’s paws to stay in the box. I’d never heard of a litter box like that. (Will wonders never cease?)
