If this is a reference to a second Lingerie event (per the 10/21 strip where Les says his mother wants to do it, again), this would kind of be almost like going to a “museum”, to Tara. And the comic irony would be that she’d “become exposed” to underwear…

Tara is apparently just as torrid as some have been speculating.

I just hope that Tara doesn’t give up on Luann as being too boring for her, as someone suggested yesterday.

But then maybe she’ll suggest that Luann try going commando style as well, and see how she likes it.

This is not the same car as the one drawn on November 9.

Or Greg never assigned a color to the seats, and Tara had to fold down the rear seat to get to her bow.

I guess I was wrong. The other day, I ventured a guess they would be getting into Tara’s Humvee. Never realized they would be getting out of underwear.

With Tara’s inclinations, she’s very lucky to be so slim. If she were just a little more curvy, she couldn’t dispense with lingerie without becoming too conspicuous in public. And hit on way too frequently.

But as it is, it apparently was not noticeable, even to Luann.

I thought Ann Awful’s party was already over. How many of these are gonna happen?

So when Luann mentions to Bernice that Tara wears no undies, think of all the fun things Bernice is going to get wrong this time.

My wife used to have a pair of those jeans that had a zipper that went all the way from the top of the front to the top of the back, if you unzipped them all the way, the two halves completely separated. I wonder what ever happened to those?

WOW! Sort this out! Another Fuse party that Pru can’t go to but apparently Luann & Tara can. Tara not wearing undies – however no conversation about sex……yet. I take it that Tara will have to take two turns in a row leading the activities. If this gets real, real interesting, I’m on board

Tara’s taken on bland and naive Luann as her project, because she enjoys challenges so much.

Let’s just hope that Tara’s up to the challenge and sees it through. If Tara got bored and dropped her, the rest of us would get bored as well.

But if those lingerie parties are a front for something illegal, I imagine there is not “general admission”. I’m glad we are finally linking two arcs that were going nowhere.

This is the third comic strip I’ve seen where “going commando” has been a plot point. Which is weird.

I also don’t understand what’s fascinating about it. She’s still wearing clothes. You don’t see any thing more when a girl “goes commando” than you see when she doesn’t. As far as I can tell, she’s the only one it makes any difference to.

Luann, just don’t suggest that you two sit on your bed with Puddles and talk about boys.

Well, I am guessing that Tara can handle Eiffel.

it would be interesting if the Evanses kept returning with different subjective experiences of the same event, á la Kurosawa.

I’ve gone commando in jeans a couple of times due to unexpected situations and I can say it is VERY uncomfortable. I just don’t get people regularly going commando – unless they wear their pants very loosely. Underwear is designed to make wearing outer clothing more comfortable – thick seams and all. I suspect Tara, given her personality, doesn’t want to take the time to put on underwear. Waste of her precious time.

I don’t see why nobody thinks Tara is just joking, as she has before.

Pipe and coffee break commentary time:

1. I am unsure as to if this “Lingerie Party” is the original one that Ann had and these two events are occurring at the same time or if this is meant to be another “Lingerie Party” that Ann is hosting again at the Fuse.

2. I am leaning towards this being a second “Lingerie Party” because the first one seemed to end rather uneventfully. If Tara & Luann being at this party is meant to have some sort of surprise ending/occurance, it seems this needs to be a second (sequential) party because from what we saw with the original party, it was fairly staid.

3. But, if it is meant to be the two stories are at the same time, how might Greg have Tara & Luann participate in some fashion that did not impact the part of the story we have seen of the party between Ann & Les? It is possible Greg has some creative way to mesh the two, but I cannot at this time hypothesize how that may be.

4. Tara “going commando” is in keeping with her somewhat provocative nature. But, provocativeness aside…. I cannot imagine ANYONE, provocative or not, wanting to NOT wear underwear when most outerwear (IMO, I guess) would feel rather uncomfortable against a person’s nether regions.

So Tara is driving a Jeep then. Fits her iconoclastic personality. The underwear thing, no big deal, a lot of younger people with decent figures go that way. Talking underwear what drives me crazy is the dragging pants showing underwear set-up certain young men, and even older ones wear. It started in Attica State Penitentiary, and was quickly taken up by urban street gangs (saw my first undie set-up in 1997 near Kennedy-King College in Chicago) and eventually became a major fashion statement, with companies even making jeans that already sag. Guys wearing them have to waddle down the street to keep their pants on. I mean a pretty young woman is walking with her boyfriend, and his dirty drawers are showing!! Why? So I don’t get too excited about a young woman going “commando” which is the term. It should be interesting when Tara and Luann meet Ann and Les, if they do. They should get Bernice at this party too. I knew this arc was leading to something surprising.

Item One: The underwear thing: Perhaps this is Greg ’s clue to us that Tara is still a “bad guy.”

Item Two: From yesterday, Ringo, I think it was, regarding the mystery dog based detective show: Think it might have been Q. T. Hush? // By the by, you also mentioned Ray Rayner, once a staple of Chicago’s WGN, along with Frazier Thomas, Garfield Goose, Bozo, and many other classics. One Chicago classic still with us today is Rich Koz and Svengoolie!

I was disappointed to see that Tara reacted to walkathons, student art shows and farmers markets as big snoozes. Walkathons are a great way for people to improve their own health while doing something for someone else. (Anyone who thinks that is a snooze doesn’t impress those of us who believe we could each do a little something for others occasionally, not just be all about fun, fun, fun for ourselves). Student art shows can be great opportunities to see radical new ideas, but I guess that’s not ‘fun’. And farmers markets usually also have local music groups and opportunities to meet new people, as well as decent food and a chance to support your local farmers. Yeah, big snooze, all right. I’m finding Tara to be less interesting, since she just seems to be about herself. Guess you’d have to jump out of a plane to get Tara’s interest…

Jeepster Commandos were around in the late 60’s / early 70’s – maybe the senior member of Team Evans is just reminiscing??…

Sounds like they both need each other. Luann needs to feel herself, and Tara needs to slow down.

So, it appears there is a fair degree of debate about whether the current Luann/Tara arc is in parallel with the original Ann/Les arc about the first “Lingerie Party” or if this Luann/Tara arc is indicating a second (sequential) party. Many folks are of opinions on both sides.

To my manner of thinking, I am still thinking this is a SECOND “Lingerie Party”. My reasoning is that if Greg had wanted the Luann/Tara arc to indicate a simultaneous merge of the Luann/Tara and Ann/Les arcs…. he would have logically placed this Luann/Tara arc AHEAD of the Ann/Les arc.

So, I now firmly believe this is a SECOND Lingerie Party… and so many new developments may transpire.

Going “commando” seems so unnecessarily rough and uncomfortable….. I cannot imagine anyone purposefully choosing to do so… except to be provocative. My nether regions benefit from the extra layer of softer protection.

If Luann thinks the first lingerie party is open to all, why didn’t Pru see exactly what Luann is reading.

If Luann is mentioning a second lingerie party, why are we only learning about it the day of the party, without any buildup, and without knowing if Ann is again running it after hours, and why is this one open to anyone.

I doubt that underwear (or a lack of it) has anything to do with what Tara would be interested in doing. I’m predicting something more along the lines of bungee jumping off the side of a railway bridge, or sneaking into the school administration building and nailing the chancellor’s/director’s furniture to the ceiling.

I think NG is right; Tara is an adrenalin junkie. She’d probably prefer the bungee thing, or jumping from a plane, or that new thing of climbing a tall building. Just breaking into an official office and messing things up couldn’t be that much of a thing…

Ok, Tara is being rudely dismissive of Luann’s ideas of fun. However, WHY is she spending her time with Luann if Luann isn’t really bringing much to the relationship? As far as undies go, in Taras defense I just drove home braless from the beach after surfing. It’s not uncommon in beachy communities and really only racy if you have been raised to believe that your body is for the enjoyment of men to look at rather then your own enjoyment. Ditto undies parties.

Luann should take Tara to her place of work, Kidz1st, and let Tara participate. That’ll wake her up in a hurry.

So two story arcs are about to merge. We’ve been going through them pretty fast. First Noah dumps his daughter on Brad and Toni, then the actors camp fizzled, Luann became a mentor, Tiffany got huge, Luann got mean and Gunther was sent in to save the day. Ann Eifel and Les argued, sort of reconciled, Luann hung with her protégé and we’re with Luann and Tara. My question is, did Noah ever come back to get his daughter?

And by Noah I mean Jonah, sorry.

If you are already wearing undies, well, no need to attend.

In my neck of the woods, we are in long underwear season. In Pitt, it is probably optional. Not a problem unless one never washes their pants.

Btw, regarding the many people wondering if Tara is a lesbian from her behavior. Luann mentioned Katniss & the hunger games. Interesting to note that Katniss hunts, Peata bakes, and gender roles go out the window when your poor. Maybey Taras just used to looking out for herself, but I’m not sure about gay.

Tara drives a Jeep; finds Luann’s “normal” activities too boring; does not wear underwear. Also, cuts class; commits petty theft (though she claims remorse). I’m guessing we’re supposed to see her as a bit a Red-headed Rebel.

Luann could do with a little (but not too much!) loosening up. The (first? second?) Lingerie Party might shake up both if they (and we) find out what Annie Awful is really up to….

349 reponses! I am not surprised, given the subject. As one who did the laundry for the ex- who went commando, it is not that appealing.

Really, really, really didn’t need the comic to go in this direction. So tired of seeing women made into sex objects in every facet of the internet, is there anywhere I can go to escape that?
