OT. Quick second thank you to the fabulous orb for all the boops yesterday. My arm is now completely unnumbed and I really need the pain meds but am hoping to start tapering off by tomorrow. Will see Dr on Weds and exchange the splint for a fiberglass cast for another 3 weeks or so and then on to PT.

So happy to see happy Trevor and his kitten colleague enjoying their break together. Have fun!

After several days of heavy rains, the clouds finally parted enough that I was able to greet the solstice sunrise. There were enough of the right kinds of clouds to provide glorious layers of color. There was a slight mist in the air. Just as the sun was rising over the tree line at the top of the cornfield across the road, I saw two deer running across the field. What a beautiful way to start the summer! The only sadness is knowing that after a brief pause, when the days stay about the same length, they will start growing shorter again.

Beatrix is so enthusiastic about all the new duties of a bookstore cat. Trevor’s so happy that they are living together now.

She is just the cutest little cat!

2 weeks since I suddenly lost my best bud / partner-in-crime / roommate, & frankly I’m amazed at how well I’m holding up. I picked up something in my travels earlier in the week and have been mostly sleeping the past couple of days, much to The Woman’s chagrin (for the newbies to the Orb, she’s a quadriplegic and I’m her caregiver) as I’ve been taking twice as long to do things that need to be done.

I am starting to feel better today. Starting to. Bea’s shameless plug gave me my first solid chuckle in two days, and that helped. :-)

Wow, my solstice comment really brought out some great discussions! For the record, I’m in SW Virginia. We already had a run of temps in the 90s last month, but things have been more temperate for a while. Today it’s about 75 and beautiful and I wish it would continue but know the 90s will return before too long. I no longer tolerate heat well so it’ll be about 3 months of going to the movies or taking car rides to cool off (only ac is in the bedroom). As for age, for years some folks have assumed that my curmudgeonly partner is my father, and he’s only six older than I. Unless I start coloring my hair soon, those comments will become few and far between! Everybody have a great weekend, whatever your hemisphere!

I think the shameless plug worked. I checked the ranking for Lupin Leaps in on Amazon this morning and again this afternoon and it jumped up quite a bit. :)

OT: Nushi (and me) update – Sometimes I have to stop and just bask in the glow that is Nushi! Enjoy watching her sit in the sun in her catio and lift up her head with eyes closed. Such joy! And my Kira has been such a good girl. Nushi continues to eat well and has started to clean herself (yay!) Still pooping outside the litterbox in a run, but for 2 days now the run has gone out of the poop. Fingers crossed the trend continues this time! Still sick myself, but I finally went out and got some decongestant so my head would stop throbbing. My friend Don says I sound like Lauren Bacall, which makes me laugh and then I start hacking. “Well, now you don’t..” More laughing and more hacking, but helps clear things out and you know what they say! I’m so glad the laddie Trevor will have his tea served to him by Beatrix. Will be part of her routine, I’m sure.

Barney joined his Love at First Sight, Bico at the Rainbow Bridge just a few minutes before the exact time of the Summer Solstice today. His body is now buried next to hers as well.
