After that previous business with the posting of the photo of Gunther standing behind the mannequin with the lingerie, Iâm surprised Bets doesnât have him wearing the six-pound velvet dress âŚ
WowâŚrisking K2 again. They must be feeling more confident that all eyes wonât be on them this time. (Of course, dressed like that, all eyes will be on them.)
I wonder how âauthenticâ they went with their costumes for the SCA. Because since the renaissance ran from the 13th to the 16th century and people didnât wear underwear until the 19th century because it didnât exist. Just wondering.
Betcha Gunther made the costumes. Knowing Pittsville is somewhere in the San Diego County, betcha theyâre dressed up for the ComicCon in San Diego. I went there with my boys once and itâs a huge thing in San Diego. However, the costumes tend to be in the character of current movie characters or superheroes. Both are in Medieval/Renaissance costumes so that puzzles me.
I guest that Gunther made the costumes and Bets bought the expensive material for make them. Tiffany is right, they looks really good in it (and she looks so sad seeing how nice they are as a couple???). Gunther has a huge talent for tailoring, maybe Bets will be able to make him understand how much itâs valuable.
When I first saw todayâs cartoon I thought this was another dream. But I guess theyâre going to some event that calls for this stuff. Geez that does not look like fun to me. Poor Gunther took Tiffâs comment to mean he looks sexy. G&K were stretching their imagination on todayâs arc.
Thanks for âBrad & Dirk: An Almost Deadly Rivalry.â I donât remember that series and have always followed LuAnn. A great strip and story. Thanks.
So Bets digs his Capt. Kirk PJs. Then photos of her âboyfriendâ sent into the either of him in Tiffâs lingerie. Now parading around in a codpiece (or reasonable facsimile thereof). What the ecchi is going on with these two? Something just doesnât seem right. Too many feminine feeling-tones for âGunâ lately. (Did I mention I dislike, bordering on loath, that diminutive?)
LOL. The old Rennie in me popped into my brain. When I read âAuthentic,â I thought, âuh⌠Not exactly, but pretty darned close.â
Ah, I do fondly recall the days when I would dress in layers of clothing (never did play royalty, because Summer is not the season for brocades and velvet!) and head out to the FaireâŚ
I think the humor comes from Gunther today. Heâs deliberately misunderstanding Tiffâs âhotâ comment. She really means âhotâ as in temperature and Bets gets it. Gunther will always be flattered anytime he remotely receives a compliment from either Tiffany or Luann. They do look great! More Elizabethan than Renaissance though.
Yeaaaa!!! Gunther and Bets arc. Canât wait to see what happens. Love the period costumes. Bet (no pun intended) GUnther sewed them, but Bets contributed.
It is Renaissance Faire time! I thought it was settled that Bets and Tiff would be roomies. Not so sure about the 50-50 on lingerie, as Bets went bonkers over them and possibly bought them herself?
So Bets told Gunth about the 50-50 split, but did he or they discuss w Tiff? Tiff gave Bets a camisole?, but Bets said she couldnât afford all of the collection. Nothing settled before the notorious camping trip!
Gunther and Bets were at the Reconnaissance Festival it appears. That is always fun.
As Mordy mentioned, Gunther looks like Sir Walter RaleighâŚ.. EXCEPT he is missing the flourish of the goatee. He doesnât seem to even be wearing his âpeachfuzzâ anymore either. And, one can hope for Gunther that his âcodpieceâ is purely ornamental and non functionalâŚ.. otherwise he is likely strangulating his, er, future fatherhood potentialâŚ. the âcodpieceâ would typically be worn lower.
Bets costumeâŚ. REALLY very nice! I even like the green/blue contrast. Gunther appears to be on a very lucky and happy upswing hereâŚ. Bets seems to continue to be wonderful for him.
It is my hope that this week has us learn more about Bets, her goals⌠hopefully we find out more about if she is in collegeâŚ. and if so, which one (Moony or Pitt CC we hope)⌠or if she is perhaps already in the job scene.
* * * *
Seeing the Sir Walter Raleigh getup gives me reason to think fondly of Sir Walter Raleigh pipe tobacco. It is a beautiful cube-cut burley leaf and has always been a staple that I greatly enjoyed!
Back in the sixties I thought that codpieces were in line to become the next exaggerated male fashion. Little did I know that people would start fooling around with flared hems, instead, though the incidental emphasis on the guysâ buns that resulted was certainly welcome.
Just a quick note, here, addressed to anyone who might have wondered why I wasnât on here the last two weeksâŚ
I wasnât âbannedâ; my forced absence was due to my having internet issues, in the form of a defective wall jack where I had my DSL cable plugged in.
Cute. Double meaning works well here. But rather than âquaffâ (usually a verb, not a noun), flagon might be better. Are Gunther and Bets doing a Renaissance Faire thing?

Sheesh! And no pockets! Now, I wonder where Gunther has got Tiffâs Money from the eBay sales (a-hem) âStashed?â ;)
Oh. And Two MORE things:
1) I HOPE âB-Gunâ discussed their 50% commission with Tiffany BEFOREHAND, and sheâs okay with it.
2) Bets floats the ânew roommateâ idea to Tiffany as a âsolutionâ to her âdorm room problem.â
And Gunther? The âSir Walther Raleighâ look? It ainât you. Try more âErrol Flynn/Captain Blood,â next time! ;)

I always wondered what those nobility dresses would look like in a mini. And I do not mean in a Mini Cooper. Or, anything to do with Sheldon CooperâŚ
.
Heck, even one of those Elizabethan lace ruff collars would make a good mini skirt.
