I wonder if Lupin is aware of the latest efforts to make crickets a regular part of our diets? Seems every other week I see another video/article about the the latest greatest treat – chips, cookies, protein powders, etc. – and how nutritious they’re supposed to be …
O happy days Lupin to the rescue, Munching on a cricket like it was a chip. And the joy from all the boys in the last panel that it was finally gone. lifting the champion LUPIN u found it ….yeah
Today was a bad day for me. My orange cat, Elsa, died this morning. She’s been sick for quite a while. My heart hurts so much. She was 8-1/5. She was with me a short 7-1/5 years. Elsa was my little baby; she thought I was her mom from the minute I brought her home after her spay surgery. For months, she never left me out of her sight. She loved to be cuddled in bed. On Thursday afternoon I had her in bed with me for a last cuddle. I knew the end was near because she was very agitated. I had my good cry on Thursday and Friday morning. My other cats knew she was dying. They stayed away from her for days. Animals are very intuitive. But, life goes on and I must care for my other cats. Give them all the love I can because life is short and we never know from one day to the next what life will bring.
OT: Thanks again to all for your encouraging words the other day. Yesterday I slept in until 11, then declared a No Coffee Day™ & took a 4-hour nap. Must have needed that sleep!
Today marks 3 months since PJ’s sudden exit from the land of the living. Of course I miss him like crazy, but whenever I think of him (which is several times a day) it’s almost always with a big grin over what a character he was (& I do wish he were still here to kick Bratzilla’s @$$!). I picture him & his brother zooming around the universe, running with all the dogs & cats they ever loved, giving the angels & aliens a hard time, & drinking toasts & making endless puns at the Great Callahan’s in the Sky.
I’m finally starting to make some progress on sorting through his stuff, although the prospect of actually getting rid of it does weird me out…still don’t trust myself to be able to go back to our regular Saturday night dinner spot without losing it in front of the whole place, but that will come eventually…
Oh well, it is what it is…life goes on, & there are 15 years of good times to remember…love, (((((HUGGZ))))) & purrrrrrrrrrz to all!
Cymatics saves the day! Also, crickets have no taste. (We have a fundraiser every year called “The Bucket Bash,” where people cross things off their Bucket Lists…throwing an axe, climbing a rock wall, being on a (fake) game show and getting a (fake) tattoo were offered this year…also, the science museum was there with edible bugs. If you ate the bug (freeze-dried), a sponsor donated more money to the cause, or you could choose to donate your own money and get a chocolate (sans bug) instead. So….I assure you, crickets have no taste.)
When I was in college, I had a classmate and dormmate who was deaf. I’ve since lost track of her, but she was the impetus for me to learn what ASL I know. (She also taught me certain signs that, uh, aren’t part of most classroom ASL lessons.) She talked about taking the train cross-country once and how it was a challenge for her with the colicky baby in her car because she could constantly feel the vibrations of its cries.
Please know that your ginger girl had a good life because of you. Waves of sympathy are coming your way from me and my fur girls. Elsa will be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge some day.
So appropriate is this comic. A cricket is stuck in my domicile now. Woke me up from my nap in front of the TV last night and is going at it again now. Odd how it shuts up when I move towards its direction. It also shuts up when I talk in its direction. But, of course, I cannot find it! And, on top of that all, I am currently cat-less. My one kitty would’ve eaten it as a snack! I frequently saw him playing with, and eating, spiders and various other bugs. He really loved attacking and eating those very large moths when they were outside.
