introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Oh, well. Time to move in with Gunther and Les. They will make space for her and even with three of them, it will probably be bigger than this dormitory room.
Iâm not fond of âpoor little rich girlâ family of humor. Yes she grew up with more than most of us but we all grew up unbelievably wealthy compared to our grandparents and even an American homeless person would be considered well off in many countries around the world. We all have our struggles and comfort zones and a large amount of stress can and does result from being yanked from those comfort zones. Yes Tiffany might grow from the experience but bernice could probably grow from living in Tiffanyâs world as well.
Well, well, well, Greg. Resorting to fat jokes to further tear poor Tiffany down. Calling names and using fat jokes is usually an act of desperation when your tanks are running dry. Now that youâve taken virtually everything away from her, I figure thereâs not much left except a reader contest to determine the most grisly demise for her. Whoever she reminds you of mustâve done a real trip on you and youâre getting even through Tiffany.
I hope you donât drive Tiffany to do something desperate or dark. Then again, the longer you keep her around, the more you can torture her. Greg and his henchperson, Awful Ann. What a pair.
Bernice is not good for her chosen profession. She is too mousey and lacks the personality to advise any students above the 3rd. grade level. Tiff, on the other hand, could be a very interesting and popular sex therapist.
Geez, Tiff â do not think of your life as getting smaller. Instead, think of it as becoming more efficient, less waste. Right now, you have more waist.
You know, over time, Iâve come to really LIKE Tiffany. Itâs time for her luck to change. Iâm starting to think that there must have been a real girl in either Greg or Karenâs life that treated him/her badly and so constantly belittling Tiffany is some kind of post-adolescent therapy. TIME TO TURN THE TABLES and make Tiffany the GOOD GUY!
She is leaning some good life lessons. Better to live without the help of her father than to live under the thumb of Ann. If she goes crawling back in defeat she will be miserable. The best revenge is to be happy and live free and independent.
A person doesnât change instantly, like some books and movies portray⊠âand she learned her lesson and was never blah blah againâŠâ I think G&Kâs portrayal of Tiffanyâs slow growth is much more accurate. Yes. We would ALL be depressed if went from all possessions to nothing. She is changing for the better. It just takes time.
WRONG choice of words Bernice. Really wrong! But the thought was sweet. It will probably take a while before she learns how to cheer up people. And Tiffany need to learn how survive shared things and space with other people.
In am way of thinking this is actually the best thing that can happen to Tiffany, and in spite of our Teafanny above I think Tiffany will find out how tough she can be, and how not shallow she really is after all. This is a cold slap in the face, but all the tools are there to help her cope, and while I donât expect her to change overnight, Luannverse will come through, fat jokes notwithstanding.
I know the first response is to say, Geez, how shallow can you get? but Iâm hoping the Evans team is making this the process of giving Tiffany some depth to her character.
Maybe moving back home might be a not horrible idea. She could put in a few nanny-cams and record how terrible Anne is to her and play it back for clueless daddy-o.
Remember when Bets first met Tiff last Summer? And after Bets laid eyes on her, she couldnât believe Tiff was a model? And do you recall that Tiffany felt insulted over that? Thatâs pretty much whatâs going on here. Bernice, meant nothing by it, but Tiffany, understandability, took it the WRONG way. But Bernice has Zero TACT. Which is why, if you want to be âcomforted?â DONâT-GO-TO-BERNICE!
âBernice.â Like Luann, I wonder how Bernice would do if she walked a mile in Tiffanyâs pumps? Based on past âBernice Dramas,â NOT Well.
So. Next week, back to Luann and the wonderful world of a âTeacherâs Assistant?â After Tiffanyâs âNever ending Traumasâ Iâm almost looking forward to it. :)
Iâm proud of Berniece here!!! She really didnât mean it THAT way, Tiffany. I think she really was speaking about you as a person not physically and she is giving you a compliment. But I do find it so sad that Tiffany says she feels her life keeps getting smaller. Itâs not her life thatâs getting smaller itâs just her material possessions. Tiffany, you are learning to travel lightâ-and thatâs a good thing. The most important things in life are carried in the heart not the hands.
I think Tiffany should move back to her dadâs home and save money. With such a huge room/area she would rarely have to see Ann. In real life a woman like Ann would NOT want any offspring around to intrude into her love nest. She would not be able to treat Tiffany so poorly in front of Tom.
Tiff seems to be accepting the fact sheâs going to need to downsize her surroundings. I donât think Bernice was referring to TIFFâs weight. I am amazed at some readersâ over sensitivity, negative attitudes and recommending Tiff get violent. Geez, lighten up!
Iâm surprised at how âantiâ Bernice the readers are. Bernice is just the messanger. Do we âkill the messangerâ just because she speaks an (unpleasnt from Tiffâs point of view) truth?
Tiff: Your world isnât getting smaller. Youâre finally living in your own world instead of your fatherâs world. He didnât make his fortune at your age (and if he had money then, it was from his parents). You should expect it to take some time before you can truly get by on your own.
Berniceâs expression in the last panel is sincere! Sure, couldâve been put better, but weâve all received worse. Tiffany now is like her ânamesakeâ lamp â FRAGILE at this point!
Constant character trait of Bernice: She is not mean, but not considerate either. Hopefully, we will get some story arc for Bernice that removes some of her sarcasm which is the source of her everyday dialogue choices. She is studying to be a counselor, after all.
Okay, maybe things look a little bleak for Tiffany⊠Sheâs lost her father and everything that came with him, including the dorm room that he helped set her up in. And all because of Ann Eiffel.
But this is actually a blessing in disguise. As she becomes accustomed to this new lifestyle, sheâll save money. And by saving money, sheâll be able to relax. and by relaxing, sheâll be able to focus on her studies. Before she knows it, sheâll have her business diploma, and be able to focus on her TiffasNails business. And with no help from her idiot father.
Ann Eiffel, however, does not appreciate hard work. She expects the world to pamper her at her beck and call. She has no conscience. She abandoned her son because raising a child was too much work for her. Conning people is as close to work as she wants to get.
It will be just a matter of time before Tom Farrell realizes that the daughter he turned his back on was right about Ann all along. When that happens, he will probably need Tiffany to support him, because heâll be broke.
Itâs weird that despite my normal loathing of Bernice, Iâm not really reading anything negative into that last comment of hers. I donât think she was trying to make a comment about TIFFâs weight, and Tiff is being unreasonable by acting like she did. Yes, the phrasing is a bit awkward, but thatâs due to the writers stretching credulity in order to set up Wacky Misunderstandings (though not nearly as overly-contrived as the time Nancy referred to herself having a kink in her neck as âI feel kinkyâ just so Frank could get all horny. That one was just flat-out stupid.)
Anyway, I never thought Iâd be saying this, but: ease off Bernice a bit. Sheâs trying to help.
Oh, swell. Now Bad Bad Bernie is fat-shaming Tiffany when sheâs already down. Kick puppies much, Bernice? Drown kitties much, Bernice? You are a perfect RA.
Mondayâs strip sees Luann continuing with date-pic dates. We see her meeting a nice looking fellow named Stuart. Stuart relates that he is recently returning to the dating scene after a nasty breakup. His tanned complexion and swimmerâs physique seem vaguely familiar⊠then it hits her. Itâs STUART! The, then 21 tear old lifeguard that revived Luann with mouth to mouth and she fell head over heel in love with him. She was sixteen. Then this happened: https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2001/06/13
Will our intrepid eponymous Luann rekindle the fire with someone five years her senior? Will Stuart get the âdessertâ she promised him? Tune in Monday, hopefully.
BTW. The whole Stuart rescues drowning Luann arc starts here: https://www.gocomics.com/luann/2000/07/03
Decision time. Learning to accept some pain in life is not such a bad thing. Going back home for a moment maybe a good thing. Sure that dragon will try to roast you alive. Youâll come out scorched a bit. But youâll live well otherwise and goto school as needed. Plus watching their run-ins here and there is fun. And who knows, maybe that old bat will fly the away one day for other victims. Nothing lasts forever, weâd assume. They ainât marriedâŠyet. But stranger things have happened.
