In the original book PINOCCHIO by Carlo Lorenzi (pen name C. Collodi), the talking critic took a harsher tone than in the movie, and Pinocchio squashed him dead! Later he reappeared as a ghost, then reappeared once more alive… (Consistency wasn’t Carlo’s forte.)Who’s the bigger jackass, the jackass or the one who follows him?
I don’t know about Graham having self-respect but as someone who voted for him a few times, he’s lost my respect. But then, the entire party lost that not long in to this administration, when they abandoned every long-held political position and principle in the name of Trump’s cult of personality. I’ve never seen so many dogs roll over and show their bellies at once.
“You don’t even have to be convicted of a crime to lose your job (as president) in this constitutional republic if this body determines your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role,” – Lindsey Graham 1999

“Because impeachment is not about punishment,” he said. “Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.” – Lindsey Graham 1999

“The problem is lying under oath and obstructing justice. The subject matter is not what is significant here; it’s lying under oath and obstructing justice.” – Mitch McConnell 1999
~
“We are miraculously transformed from politicians to people who leave their Republican and Democrat labels at the door…We’re there to seek the truth and to find out whether the president is guilty or not guilty, and no stone should be left unturned to make that determination.” – Sen. Chuck Grassley 1999
~
“It is crucial to our system of justice that we demand the truth. I fear that an acquittal of this President will weaken the legal system by providing an option for those who consider being less than truthful in court,” he said. – Jeff Sessions 1999
~
“He lied to protect himself from being prosecuted for a crime. I could think of no other lie that is a more egregious lie… I fear that if this country is confronted with a serious crisis over the next two years, that his ability to marshal the American public behind what he tells them is the truth would be diminished.” – Rick Santorum 1999
South Carolina’s share of discretionary federal spending and rural infrastructure has increased under President Trump. Nothing to see here, folks, move along.
I imagine both Graham and Cruz will go back to slagging Trump immediately after Trump is booted from office. Class acts, both of them. Actually, someone should tell Trump not to trust those two under any circumstances.
Lindsey, like a lot of others in the GOP, used to have spines. Too bad they lost them. They’ll do anything now to gain the favor of their Lord and Savior Donald J. Trump.
For hours of good Sunday reading, google: Lindsey Graham Trump crazy unfit for office world’s biggest jackass . Gather the children around for some quality family time and watch the following Youtube videos: Sen. Lindsey Graham: Donald Trump is a ‘jackass’, Sen. Graham: ‘Crazy’ Donald Trump is unfit for office, Lindsey Graham: Trump is a “wrecking ball”, Lindsey Graham: Donald Trump is a political car wreck
Jimminy Cricket is supposed to represent a conscience, so naturally some would applaud Lindsey Graham for smashing the cricket, seemingly unaware of the symbolism…
It’s interesting, now that I think of it, that ‘Collodi’ chose a cricket to represent conscience. With its random raspy noisemaking, is there a more annoying insect? Even stinkbugs are fairly inoffensive unless you start something.
Is it new to you that politics makes strange bedfellows? Lindsay was McCain’s pal for years and look at what he did with that Steele dossier, as for Biden, he sucked up to Obama, for 8 years by falling into his thrall while believing he would be covered by a Hillary Clinton presidency. Shame on you
just making a statement of fact here: can you imagine the uproar if Sen. Tammy Baldwin (just using you as an example ma’am, you’re a hero of mine) if she came forward and said she wasn’t going to listen to any evidence in the trial, had already made up her mind, and was going to vote ‘guilty’? Sens. McConnell and Graham should be recused as they would never be allowed on a jury after the statements they have made, and should be removed from office for not upholding their oaths of office …just sayin’
“If he had ever had a conscience, he had long ago ripped the pesky thing out and buried it away so deep that it could never trouble him again.” – Mervyn Peake
Good ol’ Lindsey Graham, Republican Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. This is the strongest political statement I’ve ever seen in Doonesbury and that’s saying a lot. We’ve really come to the end of our political tether with Trump. The gloves are off! (To mix a metaphor….)
Doonesbury is portraying the best Republican flip-flopper in a much too forgiving light for his ongoing buffoonery. You’d think the voters in South Carolina would have grown tired of his skulduggery.
As long as Trump keeps nominating right-wing evangelicals, many deemed unqualified, Mitch and Lindsey will do everything in their power to keep him in office.
McConnell, Graham and Grassley, the three amigos of all that has gone wrong with the Republican party. Tribal win-at-any-cost politics 24/7/365. No shame, no decency, no integrity, no honesty, no honor and hypocrisy at an astounding level. Whatever happened to principles, the things we stand by, even when it hurts, especially when it hurts. I miss statesmen and women…
