“Oh, for Pete’s Sake”. Is this something the young people are still saying these days? It seems like something that was said by the generation before mine.

So this is “wild, crazy” fun? Seriously, Luann needs to get out more and I don;t mean to the dog park! And the way Luann is dressed up you would think she was looking for Mr. Goodbar." But the worst is that this is a Sunday strip. Luann says/does something stupid and Bernice snarks. We have end the heat-death of the Luannaverse.

Less exciting than I thought it would be.

Maybe both Bern and Pud are bored, but at least Luann is having a ball!

Yup….tomorrow will see a guy sit next to Puddles upon observing Bernice reading heavy stuff in middle of a dog park and becomes intrigued.

Wait a minute here. After all these years, Luann didn’t know that Puddles had never been taught how to play fetch? This arc ain’t starting off very well.

Now I wonder who Luann is going to meet on the other side of that fetch? She happens to be very fetching herself, not plain. Her opposite friend is perhaps plain but wait there’s more that might involve them both in gasp romance? Jake, Ben? Both? Or neither? The answer is nigh.

See, Luann – that is the way your mom feels when she asks you to clean up your room.

Now if he could teach her to rollover, catch a frissbe in her mouth and not chase cars, I’d say we are getting somewhere.

Our dogs had taught us many things, actually they had many people trained to give them a treat when they came to our home. Miss them so much, they were such good boys and my moms girl when I inherited her.

Puddles, like Poochie, is the brains of the outfit.

Puddles seem so proud on how well he trained Luann to fetch♡. Even Bernice is impressed. This is one of the reasons I love dogs.

I always thought that Puddles was the smartest entity in the De Groot house.

Face it, Luann…. Bernice is a serious student. My sister had a college roommate who was the same way. My sis always wanted to go out. Her roommate was a real home-body who spent hours studying. They lived in the same dorm room for only one semester.

Puddles has Luann well trained by now (as Bernie observes). Whom shall she meet whilst ball-retrieving?

Notice a smiling Puddles’ little stub of a tail wagging hard in the 3rd panel. He thinks “..wow! toast at 6 am, encouraging words at 2 pm… I like this..”

I’m with Bernice on this. I don’t have a dog but reading in the park is relaxing and sometimes you do see cute scenes.

He fetches as well as some cats.

I recall Luann was 13 when she got Puddles. How old is she now, so that would make Pud how old?

@sue: Bernice met Jack before, when she and Luann went bowling with Jack and Nil (and Jack broke Luann’s foot with a bowling ball). Bernice was not impressed with Jack at that time, so why would she suddenly be interested in him? Just to make Luann jealous? But Luann didn’t act jealous when Jack hit on someone at the dog park while she was there with Jack, so it doesn’t seem like Luann is that interested in Jack. Or maybe ( something no one here seems to realize), Luann has started to grow past her high school self, and is no longer constantly jealous if a man she is interested in also interests some other woman? Nah, can’t be….

I am enjoying a little break from Tiffany and her drama too.

Where’s Jack these days?

That dog is 200 years old. By now, it’s obvious Puddles doesn’t fetch. He and Bernice just want to enjoy the outdoors. Luann can fetch. I had a dog who taught people to fetch, too.

Puddles is a Bassett hound. What can you expect from him? They like to lounge, not lunge.

Everybody around her is acting like they expect Bluto The Terrible to show up!

Puddles has the right idea not just for todays strip but for when they move on from this arc.

I hope the entire week is not at the dog park. Take Puddles and the books home…go out for lunch….meet a couple of cute guys…do something FUN this week.

I totally get it! I had a dog who would just look at me like, “What? You threw it away. YOU go get it.” Or more likely, they would run after it, sniff it, and then go explore something else. I got lots of exercise, though. The dog, not so much.

I am predicting a studious, but not nerdy fellow showing up for Bernice (maybe a surprise re-emergence of Piro?!?) and a nerdier but athletic, outdoorsy type showing up for Luann (perhaps a runner?). That would be kind of interesting for an end of Summer arc…. but probably only a pipe dream.

I was pet-sitting for a Labrador Retriever and a Siamese cat. The cat and dog sat side-by-side expectantly, until I noticed the tennis ball at the dog’s feet. I threw the ball. They both dashed after it. The Siamese stopped at the top of the stairs as the dog careered down the steps. The dog grabbed the ball and dashed back up the stairs, with the Siamese joining him just to time for the two to arrive together in their original positions. I laughed so hard, I couldn’t throw the ball again for five minutes.

I know Puddles, I’m yawning too. Puddles is wishing he had a book. Let’s hope something exciting happens tomorrow.
