This one is a keeper! I love all the groupings, but Beatrix dozing while Trevor reads—smart phone at her side—is so sweet! Christmas is for children and kittens and mice and puppies of all ages. Thank you for the beautiful Christmas card, Georgia!

I was introduced to a ‘new’ Christmas song today. So… I can imagine all our favorite Cats (and friends!) singing it. Please go check out “Thank God It’s Christmas” by Queen (written by Roger Taylor / Brian May and sung by Freddie Mercury). It seemed to fit so well with this year!!

Hello Orbsters! Just checking in with a couple of updates. We had a little excitement at our mall shortly after Santa left for the evening on Thursday night … and by “a little excitement” I mean “a gang member saw a member of another gang outside of Macy’s and fired five shots at him.” Story here: https://www.wral.com/police-one-wounded-when-two-people-exchanged-gunfire-in-crabtree-valley-mall/19434825/

On the positive side, it’s meant a lot more security the last two days. And this weekend has been insanely busy thus far – 300 visits over the past two days, up from around 50-60 per day. I get to pick up a couple of extra shifts this week, too, as a fellow elf, age 16, was in the mall for all the excitement and her parents are understandably a little nervous about her facing that possibility again for $8.00 per hour. (Actually, I learned today that all of us have separately made a plan for what to do in that situation. Such is the state of our world.)

In happier news, I have an interview on Monday for a possible promotion, one that is set up for me to work from home permanently, not that nine straight months with at least three more planned hasn’t felt permanent at times. Will keep you all posted.

Puck and Lupin have the same jammies and Elvis the same pj pants – can just see them in their clothes closet choosing which ones to wear.

Hello Orbsters! Asking for some extra thoughts through this Christmas season. My little girl Sakika had a mini heart attack Saturday. I spent a very cold night sitting in the parking lot of the emergency vet clinic. After three hours of waiting she was released back to the loving arms of her mom. She is now on special medication and I am watching her and counting her breaths as our wonderful vet taught me. She is fourteen years old but except for her little heart she is as healthy as a puppy. So any happy thoughts are so appreciated.

I just wish I could click on the heart more than once for this panel!

We get our Sunday paper on Saturday so I was thinking about advising the Orb to have a hankie ready. I see I’m not the only one who cut it out and added it to their holiday displays, and eagerly awaiting the calendar.. ❤️ everyone’s comments and wishing the best to the Orb, the BCN crew and creators.

Merry Christmas to the Orb and Georgia, thank you for a year of bringing us joy during these dark days! Wishes to everyone that 2021 will be be much improved over 2020.

Ack! I couldn’t remember everyone’s names! (I blame exams. Bad for the brain.) Had to go review them in the About tab which leads me to point out that Beatrix still hasn’t been added to the cast of characters! Also, someone remind me which is which of the robber mice? Say left to right?

Is that the tiniest, cutest little Bea tail sticking out in front of her left foot?! Squeeeee worthy for sure!

Sacagawea Day: Honoring the Shoshone woman to whom the U.S. owes a great deal. Without her and Charbonneau’s aid, the Corps of Discovery Expedition of Lewis and Clark would not have been as successful as it was. Indeed, it may have failed entirely.

Cathode Ray Tube Day: On which we celebrate the demise of these leviathans of waste heat. The only ones unhappy about their passing are, of course cats, who have always considered them belly warmers par excellence.

Go Caroling Day: I have never lived anywhere that caroling was done. A good custom, but this year may have put an end to it. Wacht Heil!

National Sangria Day: After such a lovely serenade, a LARGE glass of hot sangria is recommended. Trink Heil!

Merry Christmas to all! Yes, even if you don’t celebrate, I wish you joy. Seriously, I travel all over the world and have joined in with Jewish, Hindu, Islamic and Buddhist celebrations and various other national and religious festivals I don’t even remember the name of, and I can’t understand why people are offended when someone wishes them good things. I have always been grateful for experiences, even a few of the more scary ones.

If you feel you can’t bring yourself to share the happiness of others, at least don’t be offended if others are kind enough to invite you to join in. You don’t have to convert to a different religion to share well wishes and celebrations.

Most of us have celebrated other people’s birthdays many a time. I was wishing them well and sharing fun, not somehow becoming involved in their birth.
