My first thought, ugh, another week of Shannon, then I had to chuckle when she calmed “I didn’t do it.” A moment of self-awareness of how much of a trouble-maker she is. I guess this is the Shannon-rehabilitation week.
This current cycle of Luann, Bernice, Jack, Brad, Toni and Shannon seems to be shaping up as thecycle of the future. Things are being kept somewhat close to home.
I hope Gunther, Tiffany and Dez won’t receive shout shrift in the future!
With Shannon’s track record the assumption should be that she did, but for once it appears she may not have been a brat. Today. We have a whole week for her to get back on track.
I spend so much time trying to be the anti-troll she is not a brat, sigh. Not giving up though. Brad drawn handsomely, Luann drawn pretty, Puddles drawn cute and funny, Shannon drawn innocent and in the dark over events she can’t be responsible for; what will Gnk imagination cook up this week? Wanna see, panel by panel. Not enough to predict yet.
Now, this is the way to start an arc with a BANG!!!! Is Shannon afraid of the dark? Was Brad’s (and Toni’s) night ruined by this incident or he’s already far away? Is Luann alone or is Bernice here to help her watch her “beloved” Shannon during the blackout? I love this!!!!!!
For those of you who have commented or are thinking Shannon is drawn ‘too small’, or ‘ret-conned’, today Greg has one panel to insert 4 characters. Luann, Shannon, Puddles, and Brad. Therefore, he made some size adjustments. Plus Shannon is bending over the dog.
Puddles looks rather apprehensive as Shannon is reaching for him. Didn’t she deliberately drop or pour something on the poor dog once? If so, then his expression is justified.
As someone who has lived through a lot of long-term power outages, courtesy of hurricanes and ice storms, I know that firemen and paramedics will be needed with people starting fires trying to keep warm and illuminated but the most when the power comes back on and starts problems. Brad is going to be one busy character.
So it looks like it’s a done deal – Shannon is a permanent member of the B&T household, and any babysitting arrangements are between Brad and Luann. Her previous life has disappeared.
Gee I feel like taking a few days off work, but i have to produce a comic strip every day and I don’t have enough strips done ahead, hmmm what can I do? Power outage. all black with just speech bubbles. Easiest set of comics i can churn out a weeks worth in 5 minutes flat.
IF this turns out to be another Shannon trashes everything special, then this movie is getting old. I’d rather see a strip about Shannon doing something even remotely thoughtful or helpful. Otherwise, she looks like a future inmate at a women’s prison. Yes—-I’m being facetious. But really…she does all these really awful things that a kid who looks to be old enough to know better shouldn’t/wouldn’t be doing. Like she has no hope of growing out of this.
Oh good grief. Shannon week. Dropped the Jack/Bern/Luann arc. Jonah, go get your kid and get out of the strip. This is tiresome. Shannon has no business being there so much
If ever there was a clue that Shannon has exceeded Ann Eiffel in unpopularity today’s comments would prove it. People are so sick and tired on Shannon that they are trashing a strip that actually was funny. And are trashing Greg for writing about something he knows — California blackouts. Writing about a blackout has to be a lot trickier than writing a regular strip because the dialog has to carry the entire story.

The odd, stiff pose of Luann and the scarce background plus 2 black panels almost make this one strip look like it was a rush job.

Thank you, G&K! Shannon is my favorite character!
Note once again, NOT A HINT of Jonah. And when Brad and Toni need a break from Shannon, it’s Luann.
Oh, heck. If not for Bernice and Shannon, we might not see Luann at all any more!
But yeah, I rather miss Tiffany, Gunther, and Bets.
And if we’re to really see a rehabilitation of Luann, let’s bring back Fay! Those were the arcs where Luann was at her best.
