I’m so glad neither of my boys do this. The only time I heard Raven do something like this, something was seriously wrong and it did need my attention, and he was a very clever boy indeed to ask for help.

Also, Goldie sounds like she’s ready to break into a sea shanty any moment now.

Lupin, you have not only woken Elvis, but caused him to put on his glasses so that he can look (glare) at you over the top of them. It is not quite as bad as having the Judge look over his/her glasses at you like that, but it’s close.

Elvis looks like a purrfessor!

At that moment you regret he’s not an indoor outdoor cat who can be tossed into the night.

Goldie, you are an awesome night-time reporter but perhaps you need to investigate why he does it?

One of our cats loves to sing Klingon opera at the top of his lungs, in the bathtub, at 4am!

I love Lupin’s all four paws in panel two. OT I received my calendar last Friday! It wasn’t ordered for me until early January but still took a while to travel across the seas. That’s ok though it was well worth the wait.

OT Being a snow bird, Carmela and I took a long walk in the sleet covered sidewalk at 1 in the morning , what a blast! I was laughing silly with enjoyment. We lost power briefly but it is now on. It is now light snow mixed with drizzle and everything has a light crunchy sound. At 64 I am loving it! Don’t have to drive anywhere.

Poor fellow must be hungry. Feed him, clueless ones.

Doesn’t your family have to be one of the old original families of Ireland to have your own banshee? Perhaps it’s an honor.

I have a nerf gun for these events. I fire it and they run off chasing the dart.

We had an old boy that did this. He was mostly deaf and blind at 21. He just got worried when we weren’t up making noise and motion. I got him a cat tv dvd, put it on in the living room (no sound) and the pics on the tv kept him company. He’s been gone 17 yrs and I still miss him. Some kitties are just soulmates.

Female cats do that by instinct in the hour before sunrise, to broadcast their territory to any nearby rivals, and when they’re in heat, to broadcast their availability to mate. I’ve never know a male cat to do it, though.

Off-Topic:

The western parts of Alabama are getting various sorts of frozen precipitation today; in my area, it’s just wet … but later on today, the temperatures are expected to plunge; by tomorrow morning, the temps will be low 20s and teens (tomorrow’s “high” might be above freezing)! Tomorrow morning will be brutal, with single digit wind-chill!

Now… my cat Mr. Biggs will howl if I go to bed and not tell him… He tell me about it all the way down the hall…

Luckily – neither of my boys did this at night.

Zoomer was always ‘talkative’, but I rarely, if ever, heard him when I was sleeping; and Yeti was very quiet most of his life.

However, after Zoomer crossed over last year, Yeti found his voice. He mews softly and much more frequently now, but not that much at night. Yeti knows who the boss is in my apartment. Well, HE is, but you all understand. :-)

I would throw a pillow at him.

Fortunately, I only have one howler but she will only do it if I go to bed without feeding her. So, rarely.

I like the big mouth on lupin. an event similar to this in annoyance would probably be a toddler coming into your room at 2 in the morning asking for either some water/milk, or for you to make the monsters go away.

St. Patricks day approaches. Fancy suits for all.

My two release guttural, primal screams to let me know they’ve pooped and the litter box needs an immediate cleaning!

There’s a rumor that the beginning of the legend of the Banshee coincides with the first time a female Siamese cat in heat arrived in Ireland.

In his later years our Burmese was losing his hearing. He used to go into the bathroom and yowl like that because that was the only place he could hear himself. (He lived to be 21 – great cat!)

Today is my 67th birthday!

Lupin has channeled Robin!

Hubby and I spent Valentine’s weekend on oak island, NC. We practically froze and drowned. Otherwise, Hubby ran and completed his first marathon. I was his cheerleader. He accomplished a life goal at age 49. I am so proud of him!!! We are home safely now with our 4 cats and dog and a huge sea turtle medal. Runoakisland.com.

Lupin! If you must grace us with a 3 AM aria, please take a cue from Tom and sing ‘Santa Lucia’.

I’ve had cats “sing” at night – for the joy of singing. I’ve also had older cats cry at night (confusion? senility? eye sight and hearing failing? so the darkness is distressing). My 14yo Boy Cat started with the “crying” sounds at night after I went to bed (the house got dark) about a year ago. I pulled out the night lights to add to rooms without nightlights and added some additional lights to the room with the cat boxes and the room with the food and water. And made sure the hallway had some light — And the crying stopped. Now he sometimes “sings” as part of the 3am Cat Crazies (aka Zoom-ies!) when he’s feeling his oats. :)

Our 25 year old screams all the time. The vet ruled out physical problems. She thinks dementia. His late co-cat did the same thing in her old age.

Happy valentines day. The duke and success of Sussex are expecting a baby. I’m happy. My mom was a British subject and an American taxpayer. Yet she loved her royal family. So do I. Not necessarily a fan of harry but a major fan of the succession. I predict a girl named Ana Doria. Just want to be the first with this tribute to both mothers and modernization of Diana’s name.

When my cat Sally was going deaf, at night she’d stand on the dining room table outside my bedroom & meow loudly, but it took me awhile to catch on to what was happening with her… i had begun to wonder why she didn’t come when i was pouring kibble in her bowl.
