Oh my, A sarcastic Bernice vs A devilish Beatrice

And now we shift gears from Brad and Toni starting A family to Bernice’s insecure love story with Jack.

The first time I read this I thought Bernice said “Maturity School?” because Bernice is all about the appearance of Maturity. That she is hallucinating debating devils on her shoulders, though, indicates that her delicate mind has snapped and she is due to the Loony Bin, which as you know is a vault filled with Canadian dollar coins. Then along comes Jack, he of the buns that Bernice can not stop staring at. Will she throw herself on the intellect of Nils or the back of Jack? Personal I recommend a cat: they have the brains of Nil while offering more physical comfort than Jack.

So, is Bern going to “trade up” to Jack from her “starter boyfriend”?

Beatrice is Bernice’s egotistical self.

Where is Luann?

Is Jack bringing her a message from Nil?

Bernice steps back in because the others are still being decontaminated from over exposure to Steff & Kip.

So, although she is kissy-kissy with Nil, she still likes Jack. I disagree with your angel, Bernice. Nil is exactly your type. Jack is not. Give your angel the boot.

But otherwise, this is a pretty unique spin on the whole angel vs. devil conscience trope. They look like Bernice Mini-Me’s wearing lil’ onesies.

Nil is her type. And Jack has ZERO feelings for her..so that’s a non-starter.

Bernice, just be a human, you are a grown woman, smart and sensible, believe in yourself!

I’m liking this treatment, but perhaps not the prospect of a whole week of it.

This just in and I already have my doubts. Better not get my hopes up. If Evans stays true to form like the last arcs I’ll have to quit reading this and move on to something more constructive.

9 Chickweed Lane is a rerun they’re trying to pass off as the latest. I feel that as a reader I’m being taken for granted.

I’m afraid Bernice would be better off just watching TV.

Jack – “Haw, Haw! Jest kiddin’! Say! My buddy’s band is performin’ at the Fuse! You Wanna come as My date?”

Jack – “Haw, Haw! Got ‘cha, agin! I’m taking Luann! Besides, you two-timing’ My pal Nil already? Haw, Haw! Jest Jokin’! By the way. You haven’t Seen Lu have ya?”

Bernice is still attracted to Jack and still dating his best friend… very interesting! It’s nice to see the conflict in her head about her feelings in such a funny way♡. Lil Purple Bernice is so annoying! Dunno if Jack knows about Nil and Bernice, but I hope he do. This looks like a great arc so far. Maybe Bernice will help Jack find out that Luann is urgently looking for a job and he will offer her to join him in his work in his father’s company. Maybe Bernice will hit on Jack again, not noticing that Nil can see her. Who knows?!

So, they’re bouncing around from arc to arc like they don’t have any idea how to move forward with any of them. This is getting kind of old.

I was wondering when G&K would get back to this arc. Bernice may have been snogging with Nil but her attraction to Jack didn’t go away.

With Bernice questioning herself and Jack showing up and Bernice “brightening up” it looks like the games are about to begin here in the gallery. Hopefully GnK give some good ammo for the discussion or maybe clarify a few things that’ll lead to more fun!

Another comment made about 6 hours. ago that does not appear in the morning. Let me see if I can remember: Bernice is horny while her personality is repressive in desire and romance. She is like a supermassive star that is full of gravity (repression) constantly pressing down against fusion (desire) forever until gravity wins and the star explodes then collapsed into a black hole. Oh dear.

It makes me nuts that Bernice is such a fem fatale and all the guys are drawn to her rigid persona like bees to honey,

Once again GnK drag us through a week of mind numbing banter just to set up a Shannon gag. Ant to make the hubby (Brad) look foolish for suggesting something he wants. It’s one of the oldest tropes in the cartoonist play book.

At last! Bernice has realized that Nil is nil and there is more to offer out there in the world. Anyone who thinks she and Nil have true love and should stay together needs to know that the doubts being depicted have already put a nail in that relationship coffin! Moving on to bigger and better?

What happened to the weirdo with the star sideburns? I think a fling with him would do Bernice good.

AT last! GnK have returned to a topic with some meat in it; Bernice’s love life! As Bern mulls over her current life situation, who should (re)enter the picture but Handsome Jack. Recall that Jack was originally the object of B’s affection aspirations, evidenced by the Monstro sequences. Jack even induced real jealousy directed at Luann that Jack may have been sleeping over in Luann’s room. He wound up playing wingman for Nil to have B in her current state.

The question is What can we expect from this “chance” meet? Recall that Greg loves to pair opposites for comedic effect. The extrovert Jack with the introvert Nil has served Greg well over the years. Apparently he’s not through with that pairing. Bernice is best described as a somewhat extroverted introvert. She can be cerebral yet speak her mind. Which would be the best comedic pairing for Greg to exploit?

I predict the reappearance of Jack will rekindle that old tickle in Bern’s tummy for Jack. This will cause another “life crisis” for Bernice. Will it be the Nil-bird in the hand versus Handsome Jack-bird in the shrub? (I can’t say “bush” here. It would send Airman & Brdshtt, among others into paroxysms of ribald creativity!) 8^ )

So THAT’S the problem! Bern has multiple personalities Disorder!!! ;0))

“What more do we want?” Well, the answer to that question is obvious.

Today’s comic is gross! Anything about Bernice’s love life is TMI. Yuck! I miss Shannon already.

Never seen Jack try to put the moves on Luann or Bernice. Yeah he’s taken Luann out but nothings come of it.

And Luann herself took the day off to make a guest appearance in the Jumble word puzzle.

Boy, is she horny

What career? I’ve never been clear, what is all this school preparing her for? Academia? Some low paid counseling or social services job paying back uni level student loans? It’s not like Bernice is writing a self help book, and many people have pointed out she kind of sucks as a therapist due to her judgment. So why not put the school on the back burner and slut about working odd jobs for a bit? Certainly wouldn’t be the first girl to do that. Also, what does she think IS her type?? Nil and her have chemistry and he’s willing to put up with her, who is this ideal person that she thinks she is waiting for?

He can kiss? What more does she want? This is almost poignant, even Bernice’s “evil” side isn’t interested in fornicating it, really. Meanwhile, Jack is all “Hey, Bernice, Nil died, grief makes me grin, sorry, nervous habit.”

Not sure either one is “her type”, but she seems more comfortable and talkative with Nil. She seems flustered around Jack. Wish Jack’s character would develop more in the scholastic area and less in the macho man, art class model area. But then Bernice may lose interest? Glad we left Shannon at the young DeGroots.

Bern is about to get lucky, at last!!!

Bernice is great at giving advice to everybody but herself.

Something in the back of her head tells her she’s running way behind in the dating department;but her “practical side” holds her back.
