It’s a bit cruel to go out of your way to make a fancy valentine for a boy you have no interest in.

Brad has really improved himself over the years.

Clearly Brad is not a fan of Budweiser. I see him as more of a fine wine kind of guy.

Is everybody going on vacation? First it was Heart of the City and now Luann. Once Greg decided he would make Brad a fireman he had to upgrade Brad’s appearance.

From 2001? Evidence that the characters apparently age one year for every 5 or 6 actual years.

I find it kind of funny that Lu is trying.

I feel your remark about selling me the Brooklyn Bridge was extremely insulting.

I always felt that I would be entitled to have an opinion, as the few hundred other contributors in this forum have, without some nasty responses.

Also I’m so glad we don’t pay for text messages by character anymore. That’s my theory on how popular these abbreviations became.

Vacation Break? Or Gunther was not special to Luann? Gunther was portray as a honest guy who was not cool in the old days. Gunther is now Gun n Bets.

Brad has gotten waaay better looking.

Well, the greeting IS hand done, so some thought went in to it. If that’s Brad, then what a slob he was and what a nice transformation over past several years.

So, 21 years ago, Luann looked pretty much the same. Not Brad, however.

Wow, just seven months later he shaped up after 9/11 to become a firefighter. I can’t believe how sudden the transformation was.

It was a sad day when Zippy the Pinhead left the strip.

Wow, Toni really did do a miracle with Brad. He looks hideous but someone he transformed into an acceptable male after he met Toni. Amazing!

Wearing a fireman’s hat must have flattened his head over the years. He looks much better now. No longer a conehead.

Pre-Toni days

Don’t flashbacks serve a specific narrative purpose to the current ongoing story? Unless this somehow ties into a present-day arc of Luann and Gunther hooking up (which seems unlikely), this is just a repeat. And if the connection is merely “for Valentine’s Day 2022, let’s just show Valentines Day 2001”, well, that kinda feels lazy.

Lou Gehrig needed one too. Instead, he got just the opposite.

A week of ‘flashbacks’ = less comments to read.

Luann hasn’t changed much but what an evolution for Brad.

Is Gregg OK? Has he run out of ideas? Has something gone wrong? Did he and Daughter have a disagreement? Brad simply ISN’T that person any more and no amount of “flashbacks” is going to make that old person worth revisiting for ANY reason! I didn’t like him then and I still don’t like that characterization of the older brother.

Maybe Brad still looks that way, and only Toni sees Brad as good looking, and we are seeing Toni’s point of view!

Gads, “Old Brad” was such a disgusting character! He’s certainly my least favorite “Luann” person, as I like “Old Smiley” and Tiffany a lot more. At least “New Brad” is better, but I find it very hard to get past his earlier immature and disgusting behavior. I even like Shannon better!

Brad’s transformation from slug to stud is amazing. How did he get all his hair now?

Bradley Degroot wore Football Jerseys, had a buzz haircut , was constantly eating, napping and watching the game. For fun, he was a “gearhead” who was constantly working on his vehicle. At dinnertime, he was a sibling antagonist. “the pièce de résistance” was Brad’s Friend, TJ.

2001 is before my time with this strip. Did Luann have a romantic relationship with Gunther 20 years ago (our time)?

Back in ’01, Brad was still a crude-spoken potato-head. Luann was already beginning to reveal her inner emptiness, though….

The drawing style really evolved for the years. I much prefer the way the characters are drawn now.
