The Boy looks so darn PROUD of himself there! Few things improve a cat magnet like something soft, after all. (Well, for most cats. There are always those who prefer bare cardboard.)
Maybe I’ve heard too much of “Dirty Harry” (both the Eastwood movie and the insurgent son of King Charlie):
You’re thinking “Did he staple three boxes or only two?” Now to tell you the truth, I’ve forgotten it myself in all this excitement. But being outside there’s a mural, the most beautiful handwork in the world and when ya blow your nose clean off, you’ve gotta ask yourself a question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well, do ya, bunk?
Been doing this for years. Our two cats have an entire complex made up of several boxes that have been taped together. One section is 3 stories high with holes for climbing up in the inside or getting it or out from the outside. There is a long square box that leads from this complex to a set of two more boxes that also have various window, and doors. It sits next to the cat tree and is source of endless entertainment.
Marie gets IV fluids delivered each week. As soon as I empty the box, there is a cat in it. In fact, Hamilton will jump in and then Holmes will swat at him and they play the game – Defend The Fort. Every cat, but Mittens (who believes such behavior is beneath her) takes turns being in the Fort/Box. It is fun to watch and I will get some video of it and post it.
Although nothing can top “Cocoa boops,” and “Hey, It’s Soup,” I do love Georgia’s fake brand names here as well. Kids can do wonderful things with cardboard!
Hey! I have something like that except the art work was done by a friend’s kid (and says “Little Miss’s Cat House” and has a hand drawn picture of Little Miss and her favorite toys) on a bit of paper board so it can be moved/re-attached to new Cat Housess) – my Little Miss has a large Chewy box with a round hole cut in the side inside is a folded towel and some peices of an old bed sheet for bedding. On top of the Chewy box is a “Paper Box” with the box set into the lid which acts as a “tray”. Some more towel/sheet bedding AND a pet safe heating pad. I drape a piece of the old bed sheet over the open front (for privacy). Little Miss loves the coziness cave-ness of the bottom box (which gets some heat from the heating pad above) and uses the “upstairs room” when it’s chilly in the house (or she just wants a change of scenery).
Georgia posted on Facebook (with pictures) "The “Fruit box cat bed tower” from today’s strip is very real! Here are some pictures. You have likely already seen it in my other photos, shot from above. A maroon cat bed is on the top layer in real life. It’s the daily afternoon napping spot for Puck, with assorted guests. There is artwork from the Girl inside and out, along with inspirational messages for the cats. The Girl asked me to point out that while the Boy taped it together, it was actually her who decided it needed pillows and put them in. (I got that part wrong in the re-telling. It’s a whole new experience now that the Girl and Boy can read along with all of us!) This tower has been standing strong since June and we’ve never had a more loved cat bed. They do sleep in the bottom too, but I could not find any photos of them in there. I will try to catch some! (And despite the one cute photo of the Boy hugging Ora Zella, the kids stay off this to keep it safe and standing for the cats.) The little chickie Elvis is sleeping with in the last picture is from Matt Tarpley’s ‘Cat’s Cafe’ comic. (You can find it on @gocomics and on @catscafecomics on Instagram! It’s great!) The Girl and I are big fans, and there are a few plushies in the house. Elvis keeps stealing this little chickie to play and nap with. Between this toy and clucky chicken, Elvis loves a little chicken for some reason!
Most of the time we see outdoor cat shelters made out of a styrofoam cooler or small ice chests. Here’s a guy who used a pallet and got all fancy: … http://y2u.be/yiS1tKKstmw
Forget the first and third Rs, this is the seond R which too many confuse with the third R. That is if I remember the order correctly. As I recall, it’s refuse, reuse, recycle.
I am a volunteer chef at our local soup kitchen. We serve hot lunches daily and have p!enty of empty fruit/veg boxes. I’m going to make some towers! Good suggestion from Someone to use towels in them.

Kitty bunk beds! The boy is destined to be a furniture designer, and the girl is a budding artist. Such brilliant children!
Now, I’m going to check to see if I’ve still got a few grapes left in the fridge. Those boxes are making me hungry!

Now for three more boxes, unless each boy is willing to pair up and cuddle with the newer cats. The cuddles make the pile in the bed warmer.

The 5th Dimension: Last Night I Didn’t Get to Sleep at All
Last night I got to sleep in a fruit box, (oh, oh, oh)
Three boxes headed to the recycle bin,
But the Boy had an idea that did really win,
And last night, I got thinking maybe I
Should give my friends a turn in this lovely bed,
I tried once to get up, I fell asleep instead
And last night I got to sleep in a comfy bed!
…….
You might say it’s my fault, I did my best,
It really was the most comfy nest,
And more and more I find
The dreams that come to mind
Are so much better in this space!
…….
Oh, last night I slept all night in the fruit box (oh, oh, oh)
Puck and Lupin say it’s their turn tonight,
I’ll try to be generous, and try not to start fight,
And tomorrow it’s Iggy and Ora’s turn,
Iggy and Ora’s turn
For the night!

Isn’t it rich?
Aren’t they a pair?
Elvis asleep near the ground
Goldie’s mid-air
Time to bed down
Isn’t it bliss?
Don’t they approve?
With the Boy and Girl around
Their sleep has improved
Time to lie down
In their night gowns
The others appear
Will the cats share?
There ought to be turns
Well, maybe next year

They woke up this mornin’ feline fine
There’s somethin’ special on their minds
Last night they slept better than they knew they could, whoa yeah
Somethin’ tells them they’re into something good
(somethin’ tells them they’re into somethin’)
They’re the kind of beds that are not too bad
The Boy used some boxes that he had
Used couch pillows like they hoped he would
(couch pillows like they hoped he would)
Somethin’ tells me they’re into something good
(somethin’ tells me they’re into somethin’)
They only twirled for a minute or two
And then slumbered deeply the whole night through
Those beds fit like a glove
They’re everything they’ve been dreamin’ of
(everything they’ve been dreamin’ of)
The Girl decorated the beds by hand
Her beautiful artwork made them look just grand
When the other cats asked to snooze they were told they could
(cats asked and were told they could)
Somethin’ tells me they’re into something good
(somethin’ tells me they’re into somethin’)
(somethin’ tells me they’re into somethin’, ahhh)
To something good, something good, something good
