I am given to understand that one of the (very few) differences between the big cats and the small cats is that the small cats (not all of which are small) can tuck their paws in, while the big cats can’t.

My local nomenclature is that cats are loaves and kittens are buns.♥

Paws in and the covers over my head…well, I have clearstory windows in the Master Bath and my neighbor has a light over the driveway. You can read in the bedroom with my light off.

That must be a California king size bed to fit 7 cats and two people.

I love loaf mode! And the kittens’ muffin mode! Though I have wondered why cats do that. Keeping their paws warm?

My kids don’t loaf much. Mostly curled up with paws over their heads – especially when it snows. Sometimes they sleep with their paws over my head…..

Our white cat does what we call plucked chicken mode….on tummy, legs spread out and forelegs bent back (like chicken wings), tail hanging over chair edge and face pressed flat into chair seat. And he seems perfectly comfortable.

Comfy loaves and sweet little muffins – but where are the cupcats?

The paws that refreshes.

I am too weird and human to be a loaf, I tend to look more like a pretzel when I sleep. It almost feels like Elvis is talking to the viewer in the penultimate panel. Bedtime for cats is bedtime for everyone.

Since my back problems escalated in earnest a few years ago I have taken to staying up and playing on my tablet long enough for The Woman to get to sleep so that I don’t keep her awake shifting position. I frequently come to bed to find two loaves and a body pillow surrounding her. Mickey, thankfully, will usually vacate his spot long enough for me to get in, and then find another spot for himself on the bed.

Except for the 2:00am Running of the Cats!

Yup. It can be so soothing when the clowder is all together on the bed. Until you have to move.

Muffin with fangs………

PK has given up the back of my chair finally, the bad part is she is experiencing severe weakness in her back legs. She can no longer walk on them, and she has settled by the food bowl in the kitchen. She is able to eat, drink and go to the litter box for now. Likewise, she is 14,And does not seem to be in any pain, but it’s heartbreaking to watch her drag herself around. I realize she is old for a dwarf, and I don’t want her to suffer. My wife keeps suggesting a home vet visit to help her cross the rainbow bridge. I want to build her a Cat mobility cart out of PVC and some bits of hardware and a couple of hobby wheels. Either way, I want to do the right thing by her, I’m really torn here.

Okay, this doesn’t rival Cannes, Telluride, or even the TCM Film Festival, but I’m passing this on, nevertheless…

Animal Humane New Mexico is running a Feline Film Festival! Entries are to be 10 minutes or less and must be “feline-focused”.

(The term is from the official rules; I don’t know if that would rule out blurry kitty movies.)
