Yeesh, Bernice’s scrunchy bemused face in panel 1 is something I’d like to forget… I’m ready for a new storyline especially if the next part has Bern’s hand touching his thing trying to reach her glasses.

Also, Something about Jack’s weirdly bulbous head makes me think of the kids from Family Circus. And, yes, I hate that this is the storyline I’m finally realizing why I’ve felt his weird head looks so at odds with the Luann artstyle. Now I can’t unsee it.

G&K if you were trying to embarrassed Berniece you have accomplish your goal.

At this point, my theory is that the Evanses are putting their characters into all of these really absurd situations because they’re just sick of them all and enjoy messing with ’em.

Nil doesn’t know what “embarrassed” means. I think he’s impacted by autism.

My sister went to college on an art scholarship. One of her classes was human anatomy, with various models being used in all kinds of poses. During one “take ten” the male model was being flirted on by one of my sisters classmates who was, um…stroking the model’s arm with her art brush. Yep, you guessed it. Full salute! The art teacher handled it pretty well as she just said, “That’s just great, we’ll need to take a longer break because we don’t have the paper for this!” Causing the entire class to roar in laughter and lightening an embarrassing situation. Tru story!

Bernice is holding her breath because she doesn’t want to LOOK at his junk. I wouldn’t either. Not all women are so sexually liberated they’d have no problem looking at the junk of a guy who is not a romantic partner. Bernice is not that girl nor Luann. Tara, sure. Perhaps Nil should reconsider and ask Tara to be his model. She’s up for anything.

Nil is not embarrassed and Jack is more concerned with Bernice’s wig. I would guess that they’re both gay and Bernice does not turn either of them “on”.

I like Jack’s answer about the embarrassment. Classic misdirect.

Is he nekkid? Is he not? Seems like Jack has become an example of Schrödinger’s dilemma.

Compared to when she started out, Bernice already looks a lot more like a model, she’s learning a lot durin this arc. More than embarrassed, it seems to me that she’s totally confused and still doesn’t know what she wants to do, what to think and (most importantly) where to look and if she can look. Bernice is the complete opposite of Nil and Jack, who don’t have the slightest problem with being naked in front of others. Who knows, maybe during this break they’ll talk and she’ll be able to understand what she’s feeling and finally she will be able to not feel nervous anymore.

Again proving that G&K have no concept of what kids in their early 20s are really like these days.

Have they met teenagers in real life? Was K home-schooled?

Bernice is going to have to make a decision – if she wants to be Nil’s muse and participate in the art world, she’ll have to accept Jack (and others) modeling on a regular basis. Even if she really wanted to be with Jack, she would have to accept his love for modeling. Jack and Dez would be a really good couple.

Take 7 or 8 maybe…?

I’d like to think Bern’s eyesight is so bad she can’t see the flesh tone speedos which would make it even more embarrassing.But could be nude . . .

This easily qualifies as sexual harassment. Jack and Nil could both be thrown out of school for springing this on her without her consent.

Why would anyone hold their breath if they were embarrassed? That makes no sense.

Time for Bernice to move on. Nil is creepy and Jack is not interested in girls. At least Jack has been demonstrating good work ethic. He has a big confident ego and always works out, making him a stand out for modeling jobs. Nil on the other hand, may have to die to be a successful artist.

This creates perfect timing for “enter Piro”. I’ll bet If she could go right now and meet him for coffee (even in her muse outfit) she would.

Jack’s hilarious and naive; he thinks Bernice is embarrassed by the wig! Models usually have a robe on between posing sessions. Will he reach for his! Wonder where Bernice will glance with her glasses on? ;-)

This is kind of complex as its being presented on two levels, the prurient implication, with Bern being in a nude art sitting, with men she knows, and assumedly trusts, while at the same time Bern’s complicated personality, cool, overly sure of what she knows not knowing much, mostly about himself, with a raging sexual inferno as part. Plus, hilarity ensueth (a third level). I just hope this is played for more than laughs. Nil and Jack are props (totally unlike how Bets and Gunther are portrayed) but, in spite of Bern hate, she is the messed up personality here.

The people complaining about this storyline are probably also critics of Monet’s “Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe.”

She’s gonna go for her glasses but miss….. And grab something else.. =)

Nudity itself is beautiful and classic. It changes once you try to eroticize and sexualize it. There are many classic nudes…until someone tries to turn them into porn.

Ah yes, the “holding one’s breath when embarrassed” which is totally a thing that people do.

Bern is just trying to balance competing emotions. She wants to perform her role as an artistic muse and model while simultaneously reacting to being right up close to a fully naked Jack, whom she was (may still be) attracted to (physically). The smell and sight of a naked guy up close is something she hasn’t experienced. she’s just trying to process it all. Jack is used to being an art model; this is nothing to him but it’s all new to Bern.

Easy fix, Bernice: take a picture so you can look at IT instead of at the guy in front of you!;)

As long as they don’t say anything racial this story will fly.

I grew up with a cousin who is on the ‘autism spectrum’, ok? So it is something close to excruciating every time someone posts here that the antics of a character might be due to that. There are lots of good sources of info; I just don’t happen to have them at hand right now. Just Google ‘autism’…
