Where is Arlo?

Years ago, Gus made Arlo an offer he couldn’t refuse with the boat. Now seems it’s Janis’ turn with the condo.

Just tell her You and Gene are thinking of adding to the family, and you like some more Grandma and Grandpa time.

One of the biggest issues when moving is leaving friends, particularly if you made them when bothe your children were at school. That is a lot of shared experiences to leave behind. (For the women, generally, anyway). But A&J don’t seem to have any friends, so no problem there.

So . . . In other words, Gus doesn’t want to rent out the condo. But he would be willing to sell it.

I’m wondering if this is the beginning of the end. Didn’t Jimmy comment here a while back that he’d be wrapping up soon?

Janis may make her decision on the beach…Arlo will be convinced one night on the moonlit balcony of the condo.

Visit the location of a potential move during the worst of the weather/time, then decide.

The cat 5 hurricane is just a matter of time.

But don’t forget to bring the cat!

The idea of starring in a comic where something actually happens has broken Janis’ brain.

Well we now know who the Devil’s advocate is.

I don’t want to start a panic, but this story line is giving me the vibe of a finale. Like, Arlo and Janis move to the beach, live happily ever after, and Jimmy retires.

I hope that’s not what’s happening.

The privileged life decisions of upper middle class Americans?

She had her at “sitting on the beach”.

So I guess this means they are both retired? They never mentioned that they have to go back to their jobs. I don’t recall them ever mentioning they had retired but it would make sense.

With gaters not far away? Sure we will.

The insurance company could give them the odds on how many summers that condo will be there.

If l’m on the beach, the decision is made……

bug-eyed Janis is my fav!

These days all of my major decisions are made on the beach. Like, “Do I what to pull out the metal detector today or the rod & reel and try my luck at some flounder in the surf” or “Which Original Seafood House in Calabash do I want to eat at tonight?”. These are as tough as they get in retirement.

Touch decision to make! I’m looking forward to see what they do.

It’s a Southern coast I would like to move away from. He has never said where but the Alligators run from Florida to South Texas as well as the hurricanes. I’m tired of both. I need to move a little North to some different type of weather threat. Seems everywhere has something.

Someone else mentioned this the other day, but… Where’s poor Ludwig?

I really love Janis & Mary Lou’s relationship; they both fulfill roles for each other that they didn’t know they needed.

It would appear (to me, at least), that Mr. Johnson is setting up another shift in the story. While I don’t think it would detract from the strip, it does make me wonder, with a bit of dread, if Arlo and Janis turn that corner, will that new road lead to (eventual) strip retirement?

An arc on them downsizing would be fun. And since A&J has reflected our lives, it would be appropriate. And yes, Ludwig would adjust to the condo just fine.

I think I shared this before but my mother worked with a lady who kept a second house with her husband in Florida for wintering. These were the days before AC. When retirement came they made the move, but she came back. The first summer about killed them and the cat. Just saying.

That’s a very good idea.

Keeping up the house takes more and more effort as they age.

I don’t think the beach is a good place to make big decisions.
