Puckmosis: Bev, here’s the scroll room. Most of the scrolls we’ve found are classic cook or etiquette scrolls.
Beaver Lee Cleary: Wonderful. I’ll bet they were once part of the library at Meowlexandria.
Beatrixia: That was such a tragic story. It was thought the fire was started when someone forgot to extinguish a brazier during a s’more party. But we found an archive saying the fire was due to a freak lightning storm.
Bev: And I’m proud to say my ancestors in the Beaver chapter of the Ancient and Accepted Procurers’ Guild had a part in rescuing the scrolls.
Iggy: While you’re going through the scrolls, Iron Glove and Wally and I are going to look for the toolroom.
Puck: You may want to consult the hieroglyphs on the wall next to the gold room. They’re a map of the pyramid.
The French had the maquis, the Polish had the partisans, the Belgians the résistants de la onzième heure, the Norwegians had the Motstandsbevegelsen. The Raccoons have the Magazines, they just don’t know it yet.
I like how in the second panel Beatrix doesn’t seem so sure about the idea of Princess Magazine using the fire extinguisher to fight the moles, but by the last panel is helping her try to cover up what they are doing.
Also I wondered if Bea would mention that she had seen the fire extinguisher in the footage they had watched.
Magazine and Bea remind me of my dad. He was born in 1921 and lived in a 5 story building in the Bronx. His first friend was the building super’s son who, unlike my dad, was black. They were 4 and nobody had taught them that they weren’t supposed to play together. It was one of several reasons that my folks supported the civil rights movement strongly.
Two YAYs: first for Bea for knowing she should try to talk Magazine out of rushing off to save the throne, and second for Burt showing up and catching the pair of them!

From Fluff Snuff to Barn Stuff, these girls ARE tough enough. With, I predict, a little help from Burt.

Oh no, adult supervision by an actual adult!
…possibly the only actual adult in the whole cast, honestly.

Show it to Uncle Burt. Maybe he can figure out how to recharge it. Then he can show it to Queen Mags, who won’t have to wait to grow into it!

Magazine and Beatrix hitting it off. Quelle surprise.

I’m loving that third panel with Princess Mag and Beatrix. I can see them now as a crime-fighteing team, The Super Kits!

The “Just Barn Stuff!” was Beatrix’s reaction to Goldie on August 7th.

I wonder what Burt is doing with that cable. It’s quite funny that first it’s Goldie who gets told “Barn Stuff” by Beatrix, and now Burt.

“Barn Stuff” indeed, Beatrix. What’s a bookstore kitten doing in the barn at all, except getting into trouble?

Sorry, girls. Barn stuff may work as an excuse for the cats of the Big Pink House, but you’ll have to do a little better to get one past Burt.

It’s a beautiful morning, ah
I think I’ll watch these two for a while and just smile
Just take in a cute fresh pair, boy
(Ain’t) no sense in just leaving supplies
If the searching’s fine and they’ve got the time
It’s their chance to meet up and plan another brand-new day
It’s a beautiful morning, ah
Each kit keeps singing her own song, so strong
They’ve got to do things their way now
(Ain’t) no fun just hanging around
They got to cover ground, you couldn’t keep them down
It just ain’t no good if Magazine
Can’t save the throne while (fields were mown)
Far from home (cover’s blown)
Not alone (owl has flown)
Friendship zone, oh, oh, oh-oh-oh
Oo-ooh-ah-ah
Oo-ooh-ah-ah
There will be adults with questions and caring
But these two won’t be in the mood for much sharing
Seems to me that they’ll keep learning more and more each day
(Gotta say) find a way
(It’s okay) brand-new day
(Gotta say) it’s okay
Wednesday, Thursday, just stuff, okay?
Whoa, oh, oh, oh-oh
Oo-ooh-ah-ah
Oh (ooh-ah-ah)
Oh, oh, oh-oh
Oo-ooh-ah-ah

Nothing says we’re doomed like a kitten and young raccoon using a deadly weapon meant for an adult.

Child, Burt has done more “barn stuff” than you can imagine.
Parent: “Where did you go?”
Child: “out.”
Parent: “What did you do?”
Child: “Nothing.”
Parent: “Why did you go out, then?”
Child: “There’s nothing to do here.”
Parent: “So you went out to do nothing, when there’s plenty of nothing to do here. Does that make sense to you?”
Child: “Yes.”
