When she got the job at the library, she tap danced on the coffee table.

She’s just happy that she’s working again

Maybe, Thank you, God?

Maybe nothing “made” you do anything, Elly. You simply made some choices and are enjoying the consequences of them.

Her prayers were answered.

Lynn Johnston was a big believer in fatalism and it shows up from time to time in the comic strip.

Especially if the “answer” is a lightening bolt!!

From Lynn’s Comments: I think we have all felt, from time to time, that someone out there is looking out for us!

It’s nice to see Ellie so happy.

Who’s mom talking to? Why the HOLY SPIRIT! In other words God! The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all ONE God! It could even have been her guardian angel that lead her there.

We so often thing we are in control of our life. But, when we let go and walk God’s path, we allow God’s grace to work in our life. IT is amazing how many good things happen when we open ourselves to God’s grace!

She has nobody to thank but herself, initiative isn’t very common these days.

The simpler joys in Life…. sustaining your family, food, heat, power…

When that happens, your heart feels so much lighter.

God does answer prayers

I just realized that the name of the book store is a pun on the owner’s name.

One of the great things about retirement is you can volunteer for things you enjoy and find meaningful… and then move on to others if you like.

She’s talking to the Good Lord. He makes everything possible.

Like it says in Matthew 4:9 “I will give you all these things, if you bow down and worship me”.

I do believe in God, and I do believe in miracles. But I don’t believe it’s got to be divine intervention when a woman who works with books chooses to go to a bookstore, or when a helpful woman chooses to help out, or when a woman who’s shown how competent she is at a job gets work doing that kind of job. That’s just how things work.

Or to put it more positively: I don’t think the world is so horrible that it’s gotta be a miracle whenever things go well.

I have always maintained that if one wants a particular job bad enough, during the interview they should offer to the prospective employer to allow them to work for them for a day for free to show them what kind of employee they would be hiring. Sort of an audition. Sure opens up salary negotiations as well. Have used this tactic on a few of jobs. Most just hired on the spot, but had a couple take me up on it and it went well for both parties.

Okay, this one got a real laugh, at Elizabeth’s comment. Agree!!

Good, now retroactively pay Elly for the day she worked for free. It’s probably never addressed so I’ll pretend that happened.

Deist here. Even out of chaos, sometimes things align.

Liz’s comment is out of place here. If Elly gets an answer, they should marvel at it, not run from it.

Is Lily Petrucci that well known a name in this town? Or did the Pattersons have a previous connection? Maybe she’s John’s patient?

If she gets an answer, fall on your faces and give thanks.

Is working for free a reason to be so glad? Just curious.
