Deranged has the same number of syllables as crazy, but it feels harder to say.

The modern term is bat s—t crazy.

Crazy is a band word. Especially for rock bands.

Is he talking about burning the books or the authors?

i can’t even make out anymore if this comic is “pro woke” (anti conservatism) or “anti woke” (pro conservatism)

Change every word that may ever be considered inconsiderate, that may offend somebody somewhere in some way, censor them out of our history books lest they influence and corrupt our poor young children’s minds. What words may this be? Oh, you know, words like transsexual, fat, gay, black, master bedroom, racism, equity, abortion, he/she/his/her, etc. Basically anything, you know.

We passed ‘crazy’ ages ago.

So Rat is now the witchfinder general eh.

I’m sorry, but when was this glorious time in the past where people could say anything they wanted? ‘Midnight Cowboy’ was rated X because of an off screen encounter. ‘Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner’ allowed the engaged couple a two second peck.

And one of the largest promoters of censorship for “the masses” would be our ‘friends’ in the MEDIA.Funny how they want nothing to do with the guarantees contained within the Bill of Rights, EXCEPT the, ’Freedom of the Press", clause contained within the First Amendment, all the while calling for the end to the INDIDVIDUAL RIGHT to Freedom of Speech.

Pastis thinks he’ll move to Canada , which doesn’t even have a 1st Amendment, to escape this.

Only Stephan could find a way to make a joke using the Salem witch trials!

I used to listen to a gaming podcast where the hosts self-censored themselves, carefully choosing words that would not offend any group. Whenever somebody said a potentially offensive word, they would call a time out to discuss the word and what they could substitute for it. Eventually they got around to stop using words like “crazy” and “insane” out of sensitivity to those with mental illness. It was around that time I stopped listening to them because they seemed to spend more time deliberating over their word choices than talking about actual gaming content.

I use “nervous” rather than crazy. (I use unnecessary quotation marks to denote annoying “air quotes”)

If you saw some of the stuff that’s in books for minors these days — books for little kids, books that have won awards — you might think they were reviewed by the Marquis de Sade. Parents have tried to read examples to the school board, only to be told they couldn’t read stuff like that out loud in a public meeting. And we’re not talking biology texts here, you know? (sigh) and here come the people quick to defend the kiddie schlock…

Like I said, banned books are always the best types of books.

As one author said, “Banned from Florida libraries? That means people will have to buy a copy!”

No burning, just censoring. Agree with me or face the consequences!

Real censorship exists far beyond children’s books. John Anthony West’s work on Egypt is not allowed in Denver Public Library, because Wikipedia says unconscious prejudices, “wildly speculative.”

No one has to drive us crazy. From where we are, it’s only a short walk.

Crazy is right. Based on the voting results last night, we are firmly a country that loves to kill our babies. Sad. Just Sad.

… “Sanely challenged” … “Special” … “Bless his/her Heart”

My wife is a retired educator, and about twice a year she updates me on the latest words I can no longer say.

Point of order. No one was ever burned in America for being a witch. Hanging was the American penalty; burning was a European thing.

Rat still manages to burn them, only just in a figurative rather than literal way….
