Okay… so maybe Piro is homeless, and he just called up Bernice so he could come by and use her restroom?? ;)

Should she ask him if he wants to watch a silent movie? We know he loves those.. and that way he could still be having quiet time.

At the very least, she should offer him a beverage.

As CCR famously said, there’s a bathroom on the right.

Something tells me that the particular word Bernice was wanting Piro to say was three letters high.

Is Piro sitting in the wet spot left by Puddles when Bernice was housesitting?

Whoever commented previously that Piro/Walt should have gone to a library for quiet…yes, he should have. They have quiet and restrooms, and you’re not being rude or disregarding of anyone by going there and not talking. Bernice is probably intrigued because of her major, but they don’t know each other well enough to care all that much, and he’s not even trying to put forth any effort to know her better. Something’s going to have to happen to move his story forward…revelations, finding a (new?) therapist.

Bernice was being nice by giving Piro some space, Bernice ask the question in the wrong way, IMO

The term “Wet Blanket” comes to mind.

Piro:. The perpetually moody loner. Bernice will be a great counselor— after only 5 minutes with her, Piro lets it all out.

Definite a NEED and not a DESIRE.

There’s a thing called therapeutic silence. Bernice is trying but she hasn’t mastered the skill yet. But at least she gets it – unlike the other two who only care about how he reacts to them.

He’ll open up when he’s ready. And when he’s ready she’ll be there. If she’s smart and I think she is.

Will Bernice teach him how to tiptoe down th hallway to the bathroom an not make any noise like she did? Will she tell him to sit down while peeing to be more quiet?

Public buildings have restrooms. Homes have bathrooms.

Uh, I don’t think that Piro came all the way over there just to use the restroom.

I think he wants to talk.

And what’s up with Bernice?

Yesterday she was all “chatty.”

Bern is blowing it; she should have told him where the bathroom was initially (as one would do with any guest) leave a glass of water or mug of hot tea (w/o caffeine) and then left him alone.

Tara did spend a night on the DeGroot sofa. But if Piro needs a place to sleep, I think Piro would look a little scarier to Frank & Nancy. And I doubt G & K are going to put Bern & Piro in the same bed.

Doesn’t Bernice use Brad’s old room in LuAnn’s house? That would mean that Bernice has Piro right where LuAnn wants him to be.

There was this monk who took a vow of silence, but the monastery permitted him to ask one question aloud after twenty years. So when twenty years came by, he spoke up and asked, “Where’s the restroom?”

I assume Bernice is trying reignite any potential sparks that she and Piro had back in 2017?

And they accuse men of being “fixers”.

It’s refreshing to see Bernice try so hard to be understanding with someone, after always seeing her be totally tactless and rude with her BFF. This and her past interactions with Jack show that she can be a nice person, at least with the boys she likes. Even funny and sweet in her awkwardness. I hope she can get to know Piro and that he tells her about his troubles. Having to help someone who really suffers could help her get back in touch with humanity. Piro already seems to be better than when he was in Mrs Horner’s class.

A hard offer to pass on as she’s offering it, but nature calls. Some of us has been there.

Piro reminds me of the dark, brooding Byronic hero. He’s a mystery waiting to be solved.

Bernice, everybody’s favorite trash talk object? In my limited experience, back off. To my limited experience female’s like males.

Piro is reminding me of those immature girls who go on Facebook and chant “I’m upset! But don’t anyone dare ask me to explain why!”

Who goes to someone else’s home so they can just sit there in silence making them feel uncomfortable? For someone who wants privacy and solitude Piro sure is going out of his way to be around people.

I was on his side with Luann and Tara. But now he’s crossed the line into “performative brooding.” Just go home and be alone there, dude.

Ha! Not what she was expecting! She does seem sensitive to Piro’s demeanor, but still unsure of how to help him. Hope she stays calm, and not over anxious and start babbling again. ;-o

Bernice.. Just HAD to stick her oar in, * as always

Wow. Piro is really milking it! Now he’s got Bernice caught in his doldrums web and he can also count on reaping the renewed jealousy attention from Luann and Tara, (who had actually started cooperating with each other on their “project” -as he overheard). That little partnership is going to dissolve as soon as they find out a third woman has been added to the mix.

Is Piro still homeless? It seems like it, from his behavior. Maybe Luann can give him the keys to the Fuse. That would fit her MO.

Just do Motel 6 and be adults. Even I did that.

Be an adult, most of us have done this.

If I were Bernice I would go back to doing whatever I was doing before Piro arrived. He wants to be alone, so just ignore him and do your own activity. Don’t know why she is sitting there in silence with him.

What a relief! He’s not depressed, just constipated.

He needs a shrink, or at least a counselor.

Bernice shouldn’t wipe that drool off her face

If this wasn’t a comic, and if I couldn’t trust that G&K wouldn’t do anything shocking, I would be feeling a little nervous about Bernice being alone with this guy. There’s a nice, scruffier (if that’s possible), kind of “edgy” quality to the Piro drawings today.

Don’t speak, just point.

You had to know Bernice couldn’t keep quiet.

I won’t say what I’m thinking…

I think I could put up with Piro for about a half an hour.

Sure wish I had such a good friend.

Piro is in a talkative mood. He said “actually” and “yeah”, when just “yeah” would have sufficed.

It is cute to see Bernice rather “nervous” about this impromptu meeting with Piro. She is displaying all her standard behaviors in these panels:

1. A strong desire to do “the right thing”.

2. ENTHUSIASM to do “what is asked”.

3. A focus on trying to be “helpful”.

The HUMOR in Bernice’s character really stems from the dichotomy that often happens….. she TRIES so very hard to do all of the above, but often OVER TRIES and the results are all over the map.

I think Bernice as a character really expresses well a common type of personality in this way. Many of us can see facets of ourselves in her actions.

But….. regarding the specifics of today….. Piro’s request to use the restroom…. suggests that Piro is NOT going to be particularly focused on opening up his “emotional heart” to Bernice at the moment. Piro’s request seems more akin to simply having the visit to Bernice be that of a “shield” to get away from it all, or to avoid whatever is bothering him.

So, unless Bernice misguidedly and unsuccessfully keeps trying to draw out Piro’s emotions (which would likely simply have him leave there as well) …. I think the more likely scenario will be that Bernice and Piro end up just hanging out and not delving into substance. And, likely Luann will arrive home and we will end the week with a bit of conflict between Luann and Bernice on how to “deal” with Piro…. in much the same way Luann and Tara had been interacting previously.

Bernice’s sitting there would make the atmosphere very tense; just go about her business and give Piro some room.

Well for the time being – at least Piro saved us from another week of Bernice & Luann.

Too bad Bernice doesn’t offer Luann the same courtesy.

Sorry, aspiring conselor Bernice/ Piro isn’t ready to talk, yet/ At least not to you.

Are they at LuAnn’s house? If so, does Piro know it? He was trying to get away from her and she could walk right in.

Maybe Bernice should read a book or turn on the tv. Nothing like having someone show up who just sits there in ominous silence. Weird.

Piro is a tedious character.
