Coming Soon š At the beginning of April, youāll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
I was prepared to share on Sunday that my son and daughter in law were expecting their 2nd child, but we found out yesterday that they lost him / her. I canāt say I understand why this has happened, but itās in difficult times like these that we need to trust the Lord even more than in the good times. Please pray for us during this time of great sadness.
Well, I guess that pretty much wraps up Annie. There actually wasnāt much to it, but I think we should be back to crooks that Tracy can pursue by tomorrow.
I thought it had been establisheās chronically (in the original strip) that her birthday was February 29. Thereby "explaining " why she hadnāt aged at the normal rate.
Now it can be toldā¦Annie finds out she was born rather than being delivered via āthe Storkā who is āan independent contractorā. No association with: Amazon, UPS, Fed Ex, and the post office.
I love reading so many highly on target comments about this very artful strip that lacks any kind of story telling, as we all know for many reasons Mike just āphones it inā with these appalling tales. I grew up with this strip in the 70ās, and as an adult bought the beautiful collection starting at the beginning by Gould. Sheer genius until the end in the 70ās. I know he battled the forces at the time along with the 50ās versions of the soccer moms that put an end to Weird Tales and other comics, they even thought the Three Stooges were harmful to young kids.
But this twaddle that passes as Dick Tracy these days rarely hits a home run. Itās a shame. we get pretty pictures from Shelly and now Charles, but of what? How can they draw with a straight face with these these boring, pointless, rambling anti climatic stories?
Something needs to give. Would love to see Shelley or Charles sign on to do a non-strip graphic novel with a well written story of Dick Tracy, like the old days. Whether in a contemporary or vintage time period, there are stories out there waiting to become Dick Tracy graphic novels that tell a story, pack a whallop and keep our favorite characters engaged. Energy, action, true plot with curves and twists, diabolical enemies, etc.
āOn the down side, it was originally in 1732, and Ive subsisted on the blood of he innocent all these years. Given things today, Iām gonna have to try a NEW source, huh?ā
One of our children doesnāt have a known birthday. He was abandoned; and found on Day X. A doc said āHe looks like heās about a month old.ā So his official birthday is a month before he was found.
I like it better when Annie refers to DT as just āTracyā, as she did when first seeing him again on February 28) and as she has since first appearing in this strip in 2014).
The way I see it, since Annieās strip was cancelled, Tracy has adopted her as a second āDaddyā. He just gave her an expanded origin story and, perhaps most importantly, helped keep her trademark active. And perhaps laid the groundwork for Annieās next visit which hopefully will include some more time for girl stuff with Honeymoon like fighting criminals and international terrorists and stuff.
1-DT: Itās been real. Donāt take any wooden nickels. Donāt dirty your drawers like those dirty hoors. Donātā¦
2-ANNIE: I HAD PARENTS!!! WHO DIDNāT CARE ABOUT ME! LEAVING ME TO A CRUSTY OLD CARPET BAGGER AND HIS BI*CH OF A WIFE AND ONLY LETTING THAT BE KNOWN THROUGH A HURRIED-NOTE TO THE WORLDāS WORST LAWYER! I SHOULD GO SEE IF THIS āGREAT LUCKā CONTINUES BY SEEING IF I CAN WALK THROUGH A MINE FIELD UNSCATCHED! maniacal laughter
DT: Uhā¦sure. Have fun. Night all! I wonder where sheās going to find a mine field in Tracyvilleā¦
Coming in 2005, an EPIC! BOLDER the BOND! More TERRIFYING than FRANKENSTEIN! Naggier than OSCAR THE GROUCH on a sugar high! Itāsā¦(wait for it)ā¦DICK TRACY VS KAREN!
She got a parking ticket but sheās SPECIAL. Let the nagging begin!
Leapinā lizards! Thatās it?!!!? This arc isnāt even near the day the strip began: Aug 5, 1924! What a waste of time! This is getting almost as bad as Alley Oop is now!
Dick Tracy in āThe Sovereign Citizen Traffic Stopā.
āI wasnāt driving, I was traveling. I donāt need a license. Besides, Iām a citizen of America Republic, so I donāt have to follow your laws!!ā
āAh, a dirty foreigner.ā BANG BANG
āSam, send a cleanup crew, then meet me at the deli.ā
I wont be on at turnover as the power has been shut off in this area due to high wind. A precaution in case a line goes down somewhere, like it did last time. I donāt expect to be back on until morning or later.

We all take so much for granted. It is nice to remember how important knowing something as simple as what day you were born on can be.

Do you mean to tell me this whole thing was a set-up so you have an in-universe reason for wishing Annie a happy birthday in August?
