While Luann does have a point in that flowers and candy don’t last, they do still possess sentimental value just the same. My dad always got my mom a huge bouquet of flowers every year for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. After he died two years ago, my mom has mentioned several times in passing how she misses receiving flowers on those days, and it really ate away at me. Granted, I haven’t been able to afford the big bouquets my dad would have arranged and delivered to her from the actual flower shop, and the best I could do last year was just a cheap little bouquet from the grocery store floral department . . . but just to receive flowers on her special days again, she cried. Again, I can’t go all out like my dad did, but least she can have it again, and that’s my plan for tomorrow: get up early, get her some flowers, and leave them waiting for her when she wakes up. Then take her out for dinner tomorrow night.
P.S. Once again, working in a newspaper mailroom now, I saw today’s strip a week ago.
Happy Mother’s Day who have to work with Children that turn out well, and the help and support you get from your family when you at work. Working mothers are the backbone of this country.
Sorry Evans but today’s strip is lower than dirt. I didn’t find it humorous at all. All it did was add to the fact that Luann is and always will be a fraud and a self centered jerk.
Card prices have become ridiculous. And I am a card person. Many times, however, Hallmark offers a buy one get one free deal, so I stock up on future cards for friends and grandchildren’s birthdays.
I wanted to send my two daughters and daughter-in-law flowers for Mother’s Day. The daughters live in the Salt Lake City area. Shopping on line, the cheapest decent bouquet was about $150. Sorry, ladies, you had to settle for a text.
I’ll skip the obvious critique about inflation (but greeting cards are really pricy now) and just say that the thought really does count this Mother’s Day.
How nice that the whole family is celebrating Nancy. Reciting a poem is a very sweet thing, but I wonder if there aren’t fields and countryside around there. Luann could have picked daisies or other wildflowers, making a nice gift. But if Nancy is happy, that’s fine. Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
Use your creativity. Make your own card. I have boxes and boxes of cards my artist husband has made for me over the years. They’re much better than the “store bought” kind.
And, what did Mr. Fire Fighter give his mom? Shannon ought to give Toni at least a card. With all the time Jonah leaves her with Toni, and, Brad, they’re her parents in all but legal name.
a lot of cards have their images on line that are easy to copy, paste into an e-mail or print; and if you don’t have a color printer you can just take a few colored pencils or markers and add some color that way.
Who cares department. With the exception of Jan. 7, all Sundays have light coloration. Backgrounds are creamy or white or light blue, maybe light green. Why do I care? I don’t know.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!
A big thanks to all the hard working mothers out there, that have selflessly raised their children into responsible adults.
.
I really hope Mrs. Horner is alright and the Thunk is not her falling to the floor. I guess we will find out tomorrow…

If you have a Dollar Tree store near you get cards there. 50 cents or a dollar apiece.

Generally, dads prefer frugality, but it can work well with mothers too.

The reason Brad knows that is that he is holding that card.

Luann couldn’t even buy a card for her Mom? She spends money on plenty of other things for herself.

I want the flowers and candy. I get a lot of enjoyment out of them while I have them. That is worth a lot.
