Gotta admit, I sympathize with Dad today. Calvin is in a REALLY bad mood—better wait until he cools off. Of course, he’ll blame Hobbes for his poor schoolwork.

How does he get away talking that way to his parents???!!!

Calvin’s declaration about his “Rights” is a widely-accepted focus by way too many Americans, who never sat through a Civics class. Civilization, a community, members must give up some things for the common good. Americans don’t understand this today.

Cal is just being Cal. He instinctively knows he won’t get away with this foolishness, but, based on past behavior in times of stress, he is obligated to try.

Listen, kid. You knew what you were in for the second you’ve set foot into the school!

I used to love Calvin and Hobbs. But lately he seems to just be a disrespectful little brat. Has the strip changed or have I? I know these are all (very) old strips.

I am a data analyst. I can do sophisticated mathematics. 95% of the time I use high school algebra and people think I am a genius.

He is so incorrigible! I can’t fathom that there is another brat like Calvin anywhere in this world. Plus his parents are angels the way they tolerate him.

Sounds to me like Calvin needs an adjustment on that mouth of his. I think a couple of shades brighter red on his butt would solve the situation.

If he put even 1/4 as much effort into doing his homework as he does into getting out of it, he’d be a straight-A student.

WOW I can’t believe how many on here have DTS. No wonder the country is in the shape it is.

Until I started working with my daughter on arithmetic, I didn’t realize that dyslexia could impact an understanding of what numbers were greater or less than others. To this day (she’s 16), she has to use the tools we taught her to figure out what the numbers mean. The other day, I told her an activity was delayed 1 hour, so she needed to leave 1 hour later than normal – she had to stop and think if that meant 7:00 or 9:00 (since she normally leaves at 8:00 for this particular activity). It makes me wonder if Calvin would have benefited from some of the special practices we’ve learned to help my daughter function in a “normal” society.
