I think Hobbes is telling you to eat your own homework, Calvin.

Calvin’s right, it doesn’t even rhyme right. Run, one. Meh.

Calvin’s got quite an impressive vocabulary for a six-year-old.

That good friend is simply trying to impress you that one should be best in academics in order to succeed. Interestingly he is still hopeful .

I’m wondering if there is a couple somewhere in the world who are secret fans of this comic strip…none of their families or friends know how much they enjoy the universe Watterson has created….and this couple had a son who they named Calvin. It’s a shame they cannot buy a stuffed animal looking like Hobbes since BW did not allow for commercialization of his characters, but I’m sure there are other plush, stuffed tigers out there somewhere.

    Yes, that is strange.

Maybe Hobbes should leave Calvin, and make his own strip, since all this years with him hasn’t spread it more…

I love to think that tigers have a whole body of aphorisms of which we’re completely unaware.

I think his kind of overrunning involves a body block for shock. I have seen the video of “Tara the Hero Cat”, who threw a high-speed body block on a dog, who was dragging away an infant without any concern for her own safety. She’s the only cat who received a hero medal usually given to dogs.

I like it. It gets the point across, which is probably why Calvin doesn’t like it. I quite see it on a T-shirt, sweatshirts, bumper stickers (which the cops would love!)

Notice how this kid who can’t do his homework knows what an “aphorism” is.

Calvin does have an extensive vocabulary and he reminds me of Caulfield in Frazz because of their attitude about school

I don’t know… there are quite a few fabled followers… such as this one: “It is not part of a true culture to tame tigers, any more than it is to make sheep ferocious.” — Henry David Thoreau

I had a job once that included straightening steel bars with a hydraulic press. The guy that taught me said “You’ll never learn to straighten till you break something.” Breaking a 3 inch diameter shaft is a bit unnerving.
