Many years back when tablets were a new toy, a friend came over for coffee bringing her three year old son. We put some cartoons on the TV to entertain him. At one point he walked up to the TV, did the finger spread thing, and announced: “Mummy the TV’s broken.”

Nuns moving on to other clothes can be a very hard habit to break!

I kind of laugh when I hand my flip phone to someone to see a photo on it and they try the expand thing.

This actually happened to me. I was reading a book, the kind with paper. When it was time to turn the page, I touched the page on the bottom right. When nothing happened, I did it again.

Lots of clips on the internet machine of toddlers trying to open sections of pages in magazines by expanding or tapping headlines.

A few months ago my manager showed me the printout of some new equipment we were getting to replace a broken one. We talked about using the old batteries in the new one and I caught myself trying to zoom in on the print out using the finger spread.

I get paper cuts from swiping…

Reading GO COMICS is a hard habit to break.

And pressing on a word the text of a paper book to get the definition…done that

Priests get into the habit all the time

I do that too, with my old eyes. I’ve since discovered a trick: Take a pic of tiny text with your phone, then expand it on the phone!

I have seen people do that with a photograph!!!

It would be cool if you could.

I had Cataract surgery a few days ago and I still find myself reaching up to bring my glasses down to see clearly. (Eyes still healing/adjusting.)

Nothing like a good book to keep you occupied. Much better than the ones you have buy from iBooks.

Maybe he’s getting old. If he needs to see an image better, he’s trying to zoom in.

I tap the side of the page and expect the paper to flip to the next page like my Kindle does.

I haven’t read a paper book in years. The fear of paper cuts is real.

I occasionally tap a dead-tree book to turn the page. Strangely enough, it never works.

It’s the Playboy centerfold.

I do that with maps.

A recent car had a fob that would unlock the car automatically. I spent a lot of embarrassing time in front of my house door waiting for it to unlock by itself. RIP, Titanium. Tee-boned by an idiot in a HumVee.

I’ve actually done that to people who are talking to me so I can see them more clearly. Darn Cataracts

Not only have I done that, but as my hearing deteriorates, I’ve also attempted to turn up the volume or start up closed captioning when friends are talking.

I’ve done that. I also sometimes feel the urge to highlight by pushing down on the sentence, and tapping an unfamiliar word to pull up the definition.

I tap on my latest book I’m reading to get it to open up.

Embiggen. The technical term for making a screen picture bigger with your hand is to embiggen it.

I was painting a real painting one time and made a goof. I instinctively reached for the CTRL Z buttons, but they weren’t there in real life.

I’ve tried to put my finger between the pages on my tablet quite a few times.

i find myself trying to use touch screens that aren’t touch screens!

“Paper or plastic?” covers more than shopping bags these days.

I try to do that with every screen I see too

I have a habit of tapping on a word in a book to get a definition. Then I remember that it’s not an ebook. Duh.
