One year I got creative and wrapped a present for my mother in multiple packages that she kept having to open and open and open until she finally got to the present inside.
It would really be nice if, for the Sunday strip, G&K focused on someone other than those weâve been seeing for the past weeks. How about Bets and Gunther, all hot and hornyâwith Les secretly taking videos for blackmail purposes? Or Tara being arrested for murdering her tormenters? OrâŠ
At least all th boxes ainât gonna be empty this time.
Years ago I bought the Mrs. a nice ring an necklace. Out in the shop I had a huge carton that a commercial freezer came in. I put th small ring box an necklace box inside the big carton and taped em to th back. Then I wrapped the whole carton an put a giant bow on it then moved it in by the Christmas tree. She never guessed what it was. Anyway, th ring and necklace cost more than the commercial freezer did. She never had a present that she hadta go into to get the real present before.
The DeGroots finally figured out a way to make Luann actually buy someone a gift. Too bad it doesnât keep her from wasting wrapping paper and ribbon with her infantile notions. That stuff is expensive nowdays.
for my friendâs Christmas present, i had 5 boxes one in another. the biggest as 8âłĂ5âłĂ5âł. inside that last one was a gift card holder . she opened it and nothing was in it. i forgot to put the gift card in the last box. i found the card in my purse and handed it to her. we both were laughing so hard about my mistake, that it brought tears to our eyes.
I once bought my wife a bunch of LPs for Christmas, used some carboard and created a triangle out of the albums and the cardboard. She never guessed what the gift was. Lot of work, but worth itâŠ
I love disguising gifts by placing them in unusual boxes. My dad wanted a handheld solitaire game. It was in a clear clamshell, and instead of just wrapping it or putting it in a gift bag, I put it in an empty Chicken Helper box, then wrapped that in Christmas wrapping. Dad thought it was funny, getting a box of Chicken Helper for Christmas. I had to tell him that his gift was IN the box, that he didnât get a box of Chicken Helper for Christmas. He opened the box, then laughed at what was inside.
Luannâs reaction is extreme. Itâs not that just because Bernice immediately understood the gift sheâs obligated to repackage it. I didnât think Frank liked fine handwriting so much. Itâs a beautiful hobby.
I canât decide whoâs worse to be friends with: dim bulb Luann or unpleasant harpy Bernice. No wonder Delta never came back to visit during a semester break.
I once tapped old wrapping paper, ribbons and bows all over a gift. It looked like a pile of festive paper after the gifts had been opened. It was still under the tree untouched after all the gifts had been opened. My wife loved it.
one of my bosses at work has a fountain pen on his desk; it is his favorite. I reached for it to write on a sticky note and he grabbed it away; i wasnât to touch it.

Did she really waste all those boxes and wrapping paper for a small pen? I would not be happy with that gift at all.

I can appreciate the craft but thatâs just absurdly wasteful.
If you wanna surprise people, switch the labels on a couple presents.

My family has always done this: disguised âobviousâ presents.

And of course the joke is she forgot to put the pen set somewhere in that ridiculous package. Thatâs what Bernice is holding in the last panel.

Is Bernice pointing out Luann didnât even wrap the pen? Or is that just the box and the pen is in that humongous gift ?

Whatâs a fountain pen? Is it something you put next to your wrist watch on top of your dresser?

I guess Luann doesnât grasp the âbox within a boxâ theory. Either that, or she always wanted an erector set.

When I was about 12, I once hollowed out one of those old Sears catalogs which weighed 5-7 pounds, put a small gift inside, and wrapped.
