At the start of the pandemic, I gave a copy of Tiny Hats on Cats: Because Every Cat Deserves to Feel Fancy to my grandnephew and grandniece. They made every single hat in the book, and their black cat, Boozh, modeled each hat. He was (still is) a very patient good boi.
I was watching an interview with one of the survivors of the plane crash yesterday. Thanks to all things holy and the well trained flight attendants, everybody got out and prayers that those who were injured will fully recover. Anyway, he was describing that when the plane came to a stop, he unbuckled the seat belt and he “crashed down onto the ceiling which had become the floor.” I know the crash is not funny, but I laughed because I immediately thought of Lupin! Please tell me I’m not a horrible person—just a sleep deprived person who spends too much time on the BCN site. In my mind’s eye, I was picturing a white cat with green eyes walking along the ceiling and jumping to safety on the tarmac.
Queen Catshepsut the Golden: My friends, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Ishaq, The Cat in the Unusual Headgear, is here for a visit.
Puckmosis: Welcome back, Ishaq. Have you been traveling to spread joy and mirth?
Ishaq: Yes! And I also paid a visit to my friend and mentor, Dr. Zeus. We shared a lot of jokes with different folks. On their behalf, we made them laugh.
Beatrixia: Oh! The places you go!
Ishaq: And I’ve found scrolls from The Wit and Wisdom series. Collections from everyone from Erma Bombosis to Oscar From the Wild.
Bea: I’m sure Elvis would be interested in making copies.
Ishaq: That’s what I’m hoping. In exchange, I had the Artisans make him a hat like mine.
Lupinium: I’m sure he’ll appreciate that.
Ishaq has appeared in the Nile stories before. His name is the Egyptian spelling of Isaac, which means “He Laughs.”
Just stay safe and warm and dry wherever you are. It’s about 36 here now in North GA, but will be warming to about 54 and it’s partly partly. The nights have been unusually cold for this time of year. But, I like having a change of seasons, even some cold days; we have a long enough warm season here.
I was at first interpreting Elvis’ comment and expression as “I won’t wear a hat.” But now, I’m wondering if he was saying, “The kittens made everybody else a hat, but not me.” So, this will make him happy, maybe? I want to see Goldie in a hat too.

Oh my! That could be fatal . . . if it were anyone other than Ora Zella, the Girl or the Woman, who are all exempt from punishment. ;)

I love Elvis, he’s so adorably grouchy. A cat after my own heart. ❤️

Elvis is far too dignified for these silly hats. But maybe we could get him to dress up like Washington?

I love how even sweet Iggy is getting into the hatting of Elvis.

I want a giant paper hat.

I just noticed, in the last panel, how it looks like we see tape from when they made the hat. Cuteness overload!

Are the beards made of construction paper, like the hats are?

When Beatrix starts to read her report she can take it out of her hat, like Lincoln kept his speeches and documents in his hat.

Maybe the kittens cut up the false beard Pucky wore here:

Lupin’s false mustache might look like a beard on a kitten if it were brushed out.

Come on, Elvis! I know you’re a very grumpy, dignified cat person, but get into the spirit of things, wear the hat and have a bit of fun with it.

Elvis’s comment is ironic, since he’s the cat rocking those 19th century mutton chops!

I can think of no good reason a pirate ballerina should cavil at a stovepipe hat.
