Contrary to everyone’s expectations (well most) Nancy likes the new binders but hilariously thinks this was Luann’s idea. Oh, burn Bernice. Will Bern try to correct Nancy?
Let’s see if Bernice really believes that good deeds are their own reward, and if Luann is willing to sit back and take credit for the actions of another.
Nancy thinks Luann was the one who organized her paperwork? She should know better than that, given the fact that Lu has yet to master the art of cleaning up her own bedroom. Still, nice to see her happy after what was a pretty rough week for her last week.
Now, the big question. Does Bernice come out and say it was her that did the work? Or will she stay silent and let Luann have this one? Personally, I tend to think that it will be the former rather than the latter. but then again, you never know how these arcs will develop. In any event, stay tuned….
First Nancy’s and Frank’s reaction to Tara living in their business without their knowledge… And now this. I’ve lost a lot of my respect for Nancy. She is unfit to own The Fuse.
AHA! Well this must be a setback for the Bernice detractors. Actually this works into my theory that this would wind up as some kind of competition for the alpha daughter. This could cause REAL friction for these BFFs.
Will Luann confront Nancy with HER own accomplishments or will she confront Bernice with green tinged eyes?
Well, that certainly didn’t work out how most of us expected!
Now it’s time for Luann to step up and give credit where credit is due!
She might as well because, let’s face it… if Nancy gives even a few seconds’ thought to the dichotomy between Luann’s perpetually disorganized room – not to mention life – and this miracle of organization, she’s going to figure out that This must be Bernice’s handiwork anyway!
Come on, Nancy. You ought know your daughter. Since when is she ever organized? It’s not in her vocabulary and you gave that genetic code to her. How would she know how to organize something complex like bookkeeping?? Come on, Nancy, you’re smarter than that.
Luanne is probably not going to volunteer the truth, more taken aback and wanting a little undeserved praise. For Bernice, kinda gauche to point it out. The best I can come up with is Bern going “Yes, good job Luanne. Is there anything else I can do for you, Mrs Degroot?”
You young ladies were lucky she was delighted by the reorganization. The $64.00 question (as they used to say in days of yore) is now…will Luann tell her mother that it was really Bernice’s idea?
Saturday I predicted that Bernice was not going to be evicted from the Degroot’s for trying to help, and my prediction is borne out so far, but the brilliant misdirection play was as good as Notre Dame bearing Florida State in overtime today. Nancy is not only pleased the the straightening of her work, making Bernice happy and Luann surprised, but then BOOM Nancy guess the credit to Luann! Hilarity ensues!
Two different outcomes- Bernice will give credit to Luann or Luann swallow her pride and credits Bernice. The third possibility would be unlikely, share the credits between the two.
Well, I didn’t see that coming… Nancy loves the new method and immediately thinks it was her daughter who did it. Bernice and Luann are both shocked, for different reasons. Bernice’s pursuit of approval and love from Nancy (her new and more positive mother figure) could suffer a lot and end up into disappointment. This could be both something they will all laugh at together or something that will start a tense situation between the two BFF.
OK, looks like I was wrong about Nancy’s reaction, where others were right. It’s still a pretty unrealistic reaction, though. On top of that, what in the world would make her think Luann would do this? Does she not know her daughter at all? Also, doesn’t this suggest that Nancy IS “too old” to handle things?
Many of us thought Nancy would be happy with Bernice interfering in her business. That would never happen in real life and is completely illogical so of course that is what the Evans chose. I think Luann will start to correct Nancy, but Bernice will talk over Luann to take the credit.
Might take another day, or two, for Luann to admit the new arrangement was Bernice’s doing, since Bern will be the one explaining a little bit about how the set up works.
Berniece did well but Luann gets the credit????I hope Berniece will say Yeah we BOTH worked on it, plus did some chores around the house. Doesn’t it look nice?
Sorry, this is as realistic as Nancy having suddenly grown a third arm. Any one messes with your paperwork, without asking permission or how you have things arranged, and your first reaction is, “I’m gonna kill the (insert word that isn’t allowed here)!” Theoretically, after looking at the system, you might appreciate it – but that is not your first reaction.
I didn’t quite get why commenters thought Nancy would be upset by having all her files organized. I’d love it if someone took the trouble to organize the various paper documents I keep getting; it’s boring to do it myself. I mean, maybe she could have had a “system”, but c’mon. You work 9 hours a day, go home, throw your documents in a pile, and hope that you remember which ones you have to deal with tomorrow.
Anyway, it’d be cool if Bernice decided to give Luann the credit. But I’ll also accept Luann correcting Nancy and then excusing herself to do other stuff. Who cares?
Oh come on! Nancy has known Luann and Bernice their whole lives. She knows perfectly well that Nancy is the sloppy one, and Bernice is the OCD one. There is no way on this earth that she would immediately think Luann did this.
GnK have a reason for making Nancy reply in this way. But back in February there were hints that Bernice’s domestic work ethic was causing friction. Mostly with Luann and Nancy. So far Frank has benefited from Bernice’s efforts and is pleased with the arrangement.
Nancy, why would you even think for a moment that your daughter, the one whose room seems to exceed the stereotype of a teenager’s bedroom, could be the one to organize all that stuff into a coherent system? Frankly I’d be surprised if Luann knew how to keep a checkbook. So, unless Nancy has noticed how Luann (finally) is making a contribution to keeping the house in order, and, is thanking her for that, before thanking Bernice, Nancy needs something to get herself together.
Well the OBVIOUS flaw here is – if Nancy knows what this is and is so excited about it, why hasn’t she done it herself? She’s been doing the books for years, it’s not like she never had time. Maybe she didn’t know where to purchase binders? Maybe she was too poor to buy binders? All I see is she took one look at what had been done and immediately recognized how it had been organized, so she understands the concept. Maybe between the first and second panel it was all explained to her? What seems really sad to me is Greg and Karen seem to be deliberately belittling Luann to her own mother (while elevating Bernice) – which is a really low move – in my opinion.
This feels like we’ve slipped into comic fantasy territory. I can’t imagine anybody being thrilled that someone went through her business financial records without permission (or understanding of accounting) and chose to place them in some order that might be of little or no help to the person actually in the middle of working with the records. At best I could see Nancy saying that this was well intentioned but next time talk to her first.
Nancy will surely have some questions about the new system and Luann would not be able to answer any of them. Bernice would never share credit with anyone for something (good) she has done.
There’s still opportunity for Nancy to be royally pissed off! Nancy is exercising self – control at this point. She wants to express appreciation for Luann’s effort (according to her perception) before she vents and berates. But, boy, when she finds out Bernice snooped through the Fuse’s paperwork, heads are gonna roll!!!! Bernice will be banished from the DeGroot household and forced to return to the Mooney Uni dorms wherein she will find herself sharing a room with Tiffany. [Tiffany, unaware, will awaken and SCREAM in horror when she discovers Bernice vacuuming the suite after having organizing Tiffany’s clothes closet]. If this scenario does not unfold, Luann should flee the DeGroot household by announcing she is transferring to Mooney Uni and will live in the dorms only to find herself sharing a room with Tiffany. [Tiffany, unaware, will awaken and SCREAM in horror when she discovers LuAnn has dumped personal garbage all over the room after having ransacked Tiffany’s clothes closet].
Must admit that I did not expect Nancy to react this way. But it is amusing that she should automatically credit Luann with being so organized while Bernie stands by in silence….
