I’m excited to see where this arc is heading. Lots of possibilities..

So interesting development. Will this begin to being the curtain down on mystery man? We know Luann, but she is the literary sounding board for such a fascinating character. Since he’s a student now at CC will his story be an analogue for Bernice? Will Lu not be delusional, as my favorite troll suggests? Misdirection plays abound TG.

LuAnn is connecting the dots. Bernice told her about him, but not really.

Now he’s fascinating? Then he wasted everyone’s time by being boring before. (I learned how boring even a silent film fan can be; it was hilarious.)

Piro’s parents named him Le Poulet. He always hated that name, so when he came here from France, he changed it to Lee Pollo. After a while, he just dropped it altogether and goes by Piro.

He’s Kip’s Brother?

A secret is interesting only until the secret is revealed, then it becomes like a new car, losing value as soon as it leaves the dealership.

So Luann is into him.. which.. about time she moved on since for some reason they did nothing with Jack. I"m entirely fine with not having Luann in a relatoinship for a while, it was a good thing and a good way to define the character outside of dating.. but dont’ transparently set up a love intrest only to do nothing with that plot.

Starting a new life? Perhaps “not Piro” was doing time in prison…or in rehab…

I always thought Piro was a nickname. I am sure Hair, Viper, and Sun are nicknames as well. I never figured out what it was with the nicknames anyhow. We gave each other nicknames in the 7th and 8th grade, but few continued using them in high school. (Mine was Avocado, and it lasted about 15 minutes because it cracked me up.)

I think Piro already had a lot of ideas about Luann; seeing how she knew him from Bernice’s stories and how she wants to help him. Surely Tara already knew him, but I wonder if she recognized him. I love how shocked Luann is in the last panel, she will definitely write something cool.

Ooo! Interesting opening for a new arc, but also an interesting opening for Luann’s fiction . . . her questions got answered with mysteries!

Just try to remember, Luann, the grass is always greener on the other side.

Well it’s nice that Luann finally admits that she’s a bore. But will she do anything with this information?

“I’m starting a new life”…..looking EXACTLY the same, in the same town, with the same people and still being a local college student. Sounds like a formula for success on that “new life” dude. Do we have a social comment coming and does it have anything to do with that forgettable kiss?

So “Piro” is not his real name.

I’m shocked.

But IMO, his return is a good thing.

That means that Crystal and Knute and maybe even Pru, could be making return appearances one day.

It also means that like MacArthur, the infamous Ann Eiffel will also one day return.

Next time probably as Commissioner of Revenue.

Or an IRS auditor.

Or a DMV clerk.

You know. Someone you can’t escape.

And if long-lost characters like Ben York and Piro have returned, can Delta be not far too behind?

Even though the questions weren’t answered, there’s a lot to be learned by the questions asked.

Will we get any answers to what Piro’s name and new life are? Is Luann going to pass on his questions to Bernice? I would like to see Luann set up a meeting with Piro and Bernice. Luann gets information from Bernice and writes a great story.

Congratulations, Luann. You finally, finally realized you’re boring. Now it is up to you to change that! (via GNK)

Uh-oh! I recognize those big eyes on you, Luann! “That hormone” just woke up!!! Here comes some “experience” for ya! When Bernice hears about this she will be storming the Bastille to get in on it! Man oh man, is she ever going to be sooo pisd at Luann! This will be FUN to watch!!! I wonder how Nancy will handle this one?!?!

Truthfully, I’d love to see Luann and Piro (or whatever his name is) to get together. This would give Bernice her comeuppance, perhaps to the point where she’ll move out of the DeGroots’ house. Piro is just the one to draw Luann out and find her interesting in some way. It’s time for Luann’s character to grow and this is a great opportunity for the Evanses to do it.

Well, at least Luann is rather self-aware.

It’s alright Luann boring can be good sometimes.

Isn’t that always the case.

Piro (for lack of another name) doesn’t seem happy with his situation (2nd panel); i used to think that maybe he was a veteran; his affinity for silence, silent movies was a response to the loud noise of combat coupled with the fact that he had (according to Bernice) Dr appts. (undisclosed). Now I’m wondering if he’s been on the run, i.e. running away from a former self, took on a new persona (Piro) and is now confronting his real self.

This is turning into an interesting arc. First the unexpected return of Mrs. Horner. And now, the even more unexpected reveal by PIro that he really isn’t “Piro” at all and is “starting a new life”! This could swerve in any of many directions from such a start. Now, if only Luann could get a brain….
