Itâs a nice thought but⊠A baby cries because it is leaving the comfort of the womb itâs been in for months, not some Disneyland spiritual world.
Iâve told the story before, but for high school graduation, we went to Disneyland. Small World was new back then, and so I took a ride. The ride broke down for some reason, and we sat there for what seemed like an eternity listening to that dam music. So Mrs. Hornerâs bit of heaven would be my he11. Give me the Jungle Boat, please!
The late great comedian Sam Kinison a routine about trying to borrow money from his parents and them refusing and adding a lecture. Sam countered with what he (and perhaps the rest of Us) were Pre-Birth, in the Enlightened, Eternal Cosmos, BEFORE being âdragged down here,â according Sam.
It was quite a bizarre, convoluted but memorable way to reach a punchline. At least it was to Me.
Years later, at the peak of his career, when Sam was involved in an auto accident and lay dying in his brotherâs arms, Sam spoke to some âunknown entityâ allegedly on the âother sideâ asking âWhy Me, Why now??â No one knows what this âentityâ said. But Samâs response was âOh. Oh, okay, okayâŠ..,â
I guess Lu make the best of life while sheâs here on Earth, just like Mrs Horner has done. Because no one really knows what awaits on the âother side.â;-)
You might want to find something a little more affordable and interesting than Di$ney ÂŁand. Verdant forests, mountains, glaciers, plains. Catch up on things you couldnât have possibly imagined! The possibilities are endlessâŠor you could waste your time on a ride that could break down.
How cute baby Luann with few hair on her head and already recognizable. It seems that Luann goes to visit Mrs. Horner quite often, itâs nice to see her talk to her mentor abut things that trouble her. Mrs. Horner always tries to give Luann hope for the future, she really loves her
Best outlook is that the Judeo-Christian concept of Heaven is correct, and we go there and that it is an indescribable concept. Worst outlook is that the Judeo-Christian concept of Hell of eternal punishment is correct, and we go there. Socrates gave the additional option of death being an eternal sleep. However, most all cultures, even very primitive early cultures, have or had, the belief of an afterlife of some sort. I sort of go after the Heaven being an indescribable concept, which it would need to be, if we are going to be there for all eternity. The good thing is that all of us will find out in due time. And who knows, maybe Uncle Walt Disney is one of Godâs entertainment executives in Heaven and has built the greatest Disneyland ever conceived and that IS a part of HeavenâŠâŠ
Good strip today. I donât agree with Mrs. Hornerâs vision of the Afterlife but it suits her so I suspect that will be her heaven. Iâd prefer a version where I am constantly learning and challenging myself toward an evolving spiritual goodness. I hope to become a Guide to others who need me.
ThatâsâŠone way of looking at it. I wouldnât say Disneyland is the best example of an amusement park, mainly because Disney sucks, but i think to think the other side is going to the silent meadows and sunny streams.
The saving grace is that she wonât be disappointed. No one is. (If there really is an afterlife, that preacher guy from Galilee was wa-a-a-ay too late.)
I did die briefly once. For a short time. Didnât even know it so Iâm not afraid to die. (No, I didnât see a light. Well, if I did, I donât remember it.
I recall (but correct me if Iâm wrong) that Socrates was recorded as saying, just before he drank the hemlock, that this world is a known evil, and that one should prefer an unknown to a known evil.
To me this is a continuation of the most interesting thing that has happened in this strip for at least the last 12 months. Luann has experienced real maturity and growth. Nothing wrong with asking the big questions, itâs the nature of the Universe we live in, probably always will be. Always be the searcher Luann, itâs all weâve got and probably why weâre here. ;-) Happy week Folks ! ;-)

JPuzzlewhiz for the win. Todayâs strip is none of the usual tripe amd is actually very thoughtful.

Small World was my motherâs favorite ride. She could just sit back and relax.

And instead of St. Peter, would Walt Disney be waiting at the Pearly Gates??

Mrs. Hornerâs logic is irrefutable.

Itâs a noteworthy possibility unsupported by any objective information, but still!

Completely off topic, but get ready for a new website in April. Hopefully, weâll be able to edit comments and finally add emojis with no issues

Has Mrs. Horner seen the afterlife?

I think Disney would make a fortune if they added laser rifles and sensors on the dolls. I would pay extra for that.

Be sure to grow those spiritual limbs, kids.

We already know what death will be like, because we already know what not being born is like.
