The good thing about religions is that there are so MANY of them! (same for standards… but that’s a different joke). The bad thing is that I can’t get ANYBODY to agree that my religion is better than theirs.

OK, Pastis is supposedly a former Roman Catholic who gave up religion, so this won’t bother him.

We have no problem with any religion that has a God that has no chosen people, and instead wants all people to work together to benefit the entire species homo sapiens.

Unfortunately, the Abrahamic religions have the God of the Torah (Old Testament, for you Christians), Who explicitly has a chosen people, and tells them to commit genocide to acquire territory, with His approval, so that they may gain fields they did not have to prepare, wells they did not have to dig, buildings they did not have to build, etc.

The obvious benefit of genocide is that there will be no survivors or descendants to seek revenge, which a certain German leader used against the very group that originated the method. The derived Abrahamic religions make the new chosen people the followers of the new religions, so you might survive if you join them.

Alas! If you read pre-US-civil-war encyclopedias, you can find that black people, for example, were not only not considered chosen ones, but were actually classed as sub-humans by some Christian writers. Indeed, you can find ‘old’ literature in which people seek to trace their ancestry to the biblical tribes of Israel to establish their racial superiority.

This chosen people routine has been used by many peoples, including the ones whose ancestors wrote the Torah, to justify the use and abuse of the non-chosen. Isn’t it time we come together and admit that we are all members of the same species, and, as a cooperative-group species, respect and work for the benefit of our species as a whole? Please?

Zebra knows a terrible book when he sees one. And it’s usually written by a Zeeba Zeeba Eata croc. Which means most of the pages are blank and the one page with any writing on it is full of both spelling and grammatical errors.

Now when Junior writes a book Zebra will be one of the first in line to get a signed copy.
