Don’t stress. It will work out no matter if the people you voted for are elected or not. Life will go on. Work for what you believe in, vote, and remember that that’s all you can do. Don’t be afraid, don’t stress. Neither of those will help anyone, much less you.
(And don’t cuss on live broadcasts! Like Puck said, you’ll get fined.)
This toon is hilarious for so many different reasons…Puck’s huge eyes and advice to Burt, Elvis saying “huzzah, cheerio, like a Brit…and of course the incoherent screams.
I was acting like the woman about 2 hours ago as the Bucs almost lost to the 1-7 Giants but Brady and the Bucs prevailed 25-23 despite not bringing their A (B or C) game to the Meadowlands.
In about 24 hours most of us will probably be a stressed for something a bit more important than Monday Night Football! However, I suspect with all the mail in ballots in flux we will not have a lot of the battleground states called quickly. I think I will just watch something on Netflix or YouTube to keep my mind off of it.
Who is saying “Huzzah Cheerio”? It looks like her right breast. More on topic, I’ll be keeping all my American friends in my thoughts today as their world either begins to heal or crumbles into despair.I’d like to offer the following tips- there will be lots of rumours and mis information flying about- there are many, many, mailed in ballots to be counted and it may take days to get accurate results- any state that trump looses, he will likely demand recounts, this will drag out the final results.- Don’t automatically share any post that you come across unless it comes from a reliable news source- there is still a pandemic on, if your candidate wins, avoids the urge to join the crowds out celebrating.- stay safe, the rest of the world is with you through this.
I’m surprised that BCN doesn’t run on the obligatory 7-second delay that most live People-feeds do, exactly so that this sort of language is beeped out.
I am going to enjoy reading Elvis Puff Out today! It seems a good distraction from the anxiety that makes me want to puff out myself. I was lucky enough to win a signed copy from the Nightmarathon and it arrived yesterday.
I’ll treat this like every other election. Vote (actually I already did), then ignore the news until the next day. This year, we may not even know by the next day, but there’s no point in stressing about things that I can’t change.
On Shouty People Day (a term I will henceforth use as often as possible), the Woman puffs out. Fortunately the comic strip bleeps with punctuation marks.
We have been waiting months for today!! We will NOT watch TV nor go to any social media (other than the comics this morning). We will play games and celebrate the day. Tomorrow is soon enough for the bad news. No matter who wins, it will be bad news. But the good thing is that tomorrow there will no longer be ANY political ads!!! Oh Happy Days!!
Hubby and I just returned, we voted. Only had too stand in line about 20 minutes. The poll opened @ 0800A, we were there at 0810A. I feel better now. Go back to giving the TV heck!
For anyone actually doing what the woman is doing… DON’T. With the exception of a couple of very small NH towns the actual results will not be released until the polls close… EVERYWHERE. So for those of us on the East coast.. nothing official will be announced until after 11 pm est.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be media. But it’s all guesses and ‘exit polls’. Do yourself a favor and don’t feed the media machine or your anxiety by constantly refreshing your election news site.
If you haven’t voted. Get out and vote. If you have, then you should just give yourself a mental health day and wait for the real results.. not the media blitz.
I am Canadian so of course I cannot vote in US politics [polly ticks?] but I would have voted for the monkey. As in The Monkey Who Became President. Sorry I don’t remember off hand who sang that song.
Isn’t it sad that so many if us feel as if we’re caught between two evils? When I was a child, I was terrified of Richard Nixon on TV, and begged my mom to vote for JFK (and my childhood instinct that he was not a nice man were verified by the time I got out of high school—not being political here, just sayin’ what history has verified). But life does indeed go on, year after year, change after change, and we somehow get through them all. Whatever happens, we will make the best of the next four years. Hopefully with intelligence and not violence.
Same here. Voted early. Taking my R/C sailboat to the lake for a couple hours, , then working on the house. Then going to a good book, since there’s nothing but election trash on the tube. Thank Cat and Dog for Netflix. I don’t want to ruin a good night sleep (the little I get) So am not watching the news until Wednesday.
The fine considered by the FCC (Feline Communications Commission) was quickly dismissed, thanks to Puck’s fast thinking! … Later, CN was quietly sent some CATNIP as a thank you…
They don’t like to cut the feed unless they absolutely have to, because cutting the feed causes the audio to produce a hissing sound which some viewers find offensive.
National Sandwich Day: Probably because it is sandwiched between Monday and Wednesday. Have you ever felt that a week was like one of Dagwood Bumstead’s creations? Hey! Who put the jellyfish in here?
The term supposedly comes from the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who ate them to avoid having to leave the gaming table. While he was an inveterate (invertebrate?) gambler, this may be slander from his many enemies. “Only people who do things get criticized,” may be cliché, but in this case may be true. He definitely invented eating lunch (and dinner) at one’s desk. And now it is time for lunch … no jellyfish.
To Everyone: Just relax and be tacos. Whatever will happen, will happen. Stressing out about it in advance will impede your ability to deal with it when it does.
After reading the first few comments, I decided not to read any more. I find your stress more unsettling that what you are stressed about.
Am I the only one that noticed that “Mr Grumpy Pants” Elvis seems to be enjoying the shouting?I think “shouty People-day” is going to be my new name for election day. And “shouty People-year” for the whole year!
Voted in plenty of time have turned off the phone refuse to engage with the outside world for at least the next 24 hours (except for Gocomics of course).
My dear friends from across then big pond, I shall now retire with a nice cup of tea, milked and sugared plus a pinch of vanilla, a book and four cats. One of whom is quite partial to milk tea… there might be bit of a struggle over the tea tonight, nothing serious compared to what is at stake for you though. I expect our cat reporters will keep us posted and with that back to the studio and anchor cat Lupin. Our important news tonight is Tiger stole the fish and Schnurri ate the wrapping, all is as it should be. Good night.
We both voted early on the first possible day for us. I will not watch election results tonight as they are strictly projections and not actual numbers. The one encouraging thing for me today is that record voting turnouts are happening all over the country starting with the early voting period. I take comfort in that, and we’ll see who the victors really are over the next few days. To those who have voted, regardless of which party, I say thank you for making this the most representative vote I can recall on a national level. Kudos!
You know what’s upsetting me? – that a majority of you are so stressed. Please don’t be. Your furry folks can tell you are upset and that will upset them. So, for their sake think calm thoughts. Thank you.
Worked, petted a cat, went to vote at an odd hour and there were more poll workers than customers. Hubs said they split our precinct with half going to the school we used to vote at And the church we have been voting at to reduce people together. Came home, ate lunch and went back to work.

We’re on a mission to get results,
We’re all crusading, we’ll never halt!
We love our People as as much as can be,
But sometimes as a group they can be stupid!
…….
So get on out there and cast your vote,
Do not delay, let the people note,
Our kittens kitten’s will adore us,
And they will sing in grateful chorus,
“Well done, feline suffragers!”
…….
From Washington to the Big Pink House,
One hears the restless mews!
Go out an go cast your vote,
Don’t curse about the news!
Listen to your favorite cats,
And do what they endorse,
You know that they are always right,
And you know it, of course!
…….
Although cats rule the world, you know what must be!
We’re telling our humans what’s right, militantly!
Never you fear!
…….
So get on out there and cast your vote,
Do not delay, let the people note,
Our kittens kitten’s will adore us,
And they will sing in grateful chorus,
“Well done, feline suffragers!”
