I’m afraid I have to take back the praise I gave this strip yesterday. The twist yesterday was shocking, exciting, entertaining. The twist today is just…disappointing. And more than a little dull.I don’t hate the strip. It’s just I was so excited by yesterday, and so let down by today.

Brad may be willing to plan the wedding without Toni’s involvement, but I think Toni ought to be available to put the brakes on his potential spending. Brad seems like he could be susceptible to being led into spending a lot more than he needs to:

Someone said this would happen and I thought: “Yes, it will turn out to be a fantasy scene!” … So, while I didn’t MAKE the prediction, I DID agree with it! (Which is closer than I usually get) :D

Another surprise. Brad will do all right if he doesn’t let TJ take over.

It is a huge retcon of all we know about Brad, to make him a prissy fussbudget who frets about details and fancy trimmings. Felix Unger he is NOT!!! Brad is Oscar Madison, and that’s that.

9Wow! Very nice twist here, by Greg! I am happy this was Greg’s choice. Surprised and happy! Now, family can still be part of this important event…which is good for everyone IMO.

Man-O-man, talk about being on one heck of a coaster ride! Now I’m really enjoying this ride and will re-ride it over and over like a crazed coaster enthusiast. It’s like Space Mountain, where ya can’t see any of the turns coming and would ride it over and over a billion times.

It’s usually the female that’s all gaga over the “dream wedding”. But, then, that’s Brad for you!

A little disappointed. I thought Greg hit the perfect solution with a courthouse marriage on Sept 2 , Then they could have had a nice small wedding or reception on Dec. But Then they would have to have the and that would have save Toni the Hassle, Preventive the" awkward and negative comments about a Sept 11 th wedding or elopement on that date . Luann missing out on maid of honor would be easy for her to accept but Shannon missing out on being " Flour girl?. LOL. Where would they have lived as husband and wife til TJ has the lace remodeled and would they still want TJ to live there after they married. But I guess seeing how this will play out offers us some excitement in the weeks/ months to come. Hope Greg has some more surprises instire for us.

I like it! Brad gets the wedding of his dreams AND gets to plan it. Toni gets the wedding of her dreams, i.e., -not involved in the planning or decisions. They both get what they want, and all their friends and family get to watch. Shannon as flower girl. Luann as bridesmaid. What’s not to like?

What is really going on is the shattering of the notion that only women have a dream of the spectacular ‘her day’ moment. Brad is the one here to have visions of the white dress, flowers, cake and extravaganza. Good bye old notions of sexism and role designations. And Brad will end up being the stay at home dad, too. And will be fulfilled doing it. Love this comic strip.

OH NO. I had hoped that they really did elope. I am so with Toni on the wedding fuss stuff.

When my brother got married the first time, he was the one doing all the planning and decision making as well. I made pretty much all the decisions regarding the shower. Never saw a bride so disinterested in ANY details. Guess that’s why the marriage lasted less than 2 years. His wife now, they planned it in 2 weeks, it was at the courthouse and was so beautiful. You can never tell, at least I know Toni loves Brad way more than x-sil loved my bro.

Greg put up that “gag” scenario that showed Luann married to Elwood, then put up the real results of the poll.Perhaps someone can post the two scenarios?

I’m so glad they did not make a hasty decision. A lot of people who were planning on a wedding would have been disappointed. Now Brad can plan the wedding all by himself and Toni can just show up. Everyone is happy.

I thought it was very caring of Brad to offer his idea. I have seen both of them mature over the “years”. Toni and Brad seem able to push through their emotions and come to a reasonable compromise. This is great, and it bodes well for true marital fulfillment!

Still, the families need to be involved, no. Wedding supper and reception? Will T.J. cater?

Greg and Karen had us all going for awhile! I don’t care what agreement they end up with as long each gets heard and is able/willing to share reservations, which they have. Brad will handle all the planning around the wedding, but does their agreement comes down to Toni saying, “I don’t want to hear any planning details. Just surprise me.”? Nothing wrong with that, but if cede all decision making then you may be giving up veto power. We’ll see…

More boring stuff.

Wow. Absolutely awful bait and switch. Yesterday’s strip was utterly gorgeous and now it’s meaningless.

Hurray! No elopement! That’s a relief. Now Brad and Toni can on with a real, and simpler, wedding than in his recent fantasies….

After reading the old strips from the ’80s I find it amazing that Brad wants to plan a wedding.

Yesterday he hooked himself good….Today he really set the hook….It’s gonna be painful…Too bad the dumb fish can’t run for it…I didn’t give in until I was Twenty Eight…and was ready for the consequences -’Been forty three years now….Someday I hope to find out if it was really worth it…..

I am SOOOOOOOOOO disappointed. I was all set to see the judge pronouncing them man and wife. There was so much happiness in yesterday’s strip and it wasn’t really happening.

This is so funny… Most of the time, we got people saying how dull and predictable the strip is; this week we got a wonderful roller coaster ride (Are they breaking up? Are they going to elope? YES, they are eloping…), now he throws us a curve and I’m reading a bunch of negative comments; poor Greg, he can’t win, with some of you guys!

Soooo… The next twist of going to City Hall and then backing out allows more future moments when we say once again, “Uh Oh” – another glitch in the relationship just showed up – is it not gonna happen? More logs to the fire, which has been burning for a long time. When they get married, a major source of suspense will fade. Of course Luann herself should be ready for some more drama.

I’m so glad to see this dynamic here w/ these two. I get stressed out thinking about other peoples’ weddings so I totally feel Toni on this one…

To those who found yesterday thrilling and today a massive disappointment, I have no comforting words for you. I loved yesterday’s Maxfield Parish moment and I loved today’s solid sharing of feelings. Bodes well.

I think that what was so thrilling about yesterday was it’s simplicity (and beauty), which as many have pointed out is not Evans’ style. What makes this strip so compelling is complexity coupled with the unanticipated. I guess yesterday was too simple and wonderful to be true.

I admire any man who wants to plan his wedding. It is a nerve wracking experience unless you enjoy organizing … my wife and I turned it over to willing friends, and we are ETERNALLY grateful for their help.

Spoiler Alert: And we thought Toni was stressed…
