Elvis’s disliking his outfit… makes me think of Mark Hamill. In 1980 Star Wars was VERY popular. On a German TV show they had Mark Hamill in a Disco gold outfit that was very current with that time… but was an embarrassment to the image of futuristic Luke Skywalker. Mark Hamill has mad many a comment on how much he didn’t like that costume!
Elvis, that space cape is far more stylish than anything The Mekon wore. And I’m pretty sure even Sophie would have difficulty whipping up a levitating chair on short order.
(For the benefit of the culturally deprived, here is an introduction to the greatest villain of all.
Elvis-Anum: Thank you, Sophititi, for this lovely new outfit. What inspired you to make it?
Sophititi: I was visualizing what the future might be like. These outfits are in hopes of things becoming better.
Enter Puckmosis
Puckmosis: Thanks for the new outfit, Sophititi. How do I look?
Sophititi: Oh, it looks better than I Imagined! I think the future is looking bright!
Enter Lupinium
Lupinium: Love the brown suit and this floppy hat. It makes me feel like going out and having adventures. But what do you call these things we wear around our necks?
Sophititi: I call it a tie, Lupinium. I made one for each of you. And I made a skirt and blouse for Beatrixia. Now please excuse me as I make an outfit for the Queen.
Elvis-Anum: (To Puckmosis and Lupinium) These clothes are nice, but they’ll never catch on.
“Flash Gordon” is the epitome of the “so bad it’s good” movie. And Max von Sydow’s performance as Ming (plus the singular soundtrack) is what gets it there.
Also, to all our American orbsters, Happy Thanksgiving!
International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women: What bugs me is that this is still a problem—and has created another problem, gender discrimination against men. Neither is acceptable in a truly civilized, truly human, being. Violence does not have to be physical, either. It can be, and in our society and others, often is, psychological. And if this doesn’t stop, I’m going to bang some heads together … (Had to insert a little humor, as this is a grim subject.) However, that nicely illustrates the core of the problem: emotion. “Do nothing in anger,” is one of the greatest bits of wisdom ever uttered.
Blackout Wednesday: a.k.a. “Drinksgiving.” Apparently very popular with college students, and possibly much more popular with the general population in these times. However, since you shouldn’t be going anywhere, anyway, stay home and get well buzzed. (Jules! You’re on! Is he warm enough to fly, yet?) The perfect day to drink and not drive.
National Jukebox Day: The good news is that they still exist, and still look pretty much the same, even though the modern ones no longer contain records. Sure beats Muzak™ (emphasis on the "ak"—"Mars Attacks" but more subtly …
Tie One On Day: NOT related to “Blackout Day.” This refers to aprons, and is very apropos to the day before Turkey Day. The tradition is to bake something, wrap it in a clean apron with an encouraging note, and give it to someone down on their luck or having a hard time. To all those here in such circumstances, I send a virtual tin of Double Damned Chocolate Chip Cookies (Weapons Grade), apron, and encouraging note: Don’t Let the Turkeys Get You Down! (A book by Sandra Boynton, both funny and encouraging.)
Elvis, the clothes don’t make the cat. The cat makes the clothes. Own that amazing costume Sophie has fashioned for you and you will imbue it with your dignity.
Facebook Announcement from Georgia "I have bad news, good news, and hopefully great news— The bad news: This is the second year I’ve tried to break down the 2016 ‘Our IX Lives’ Christmas special for newspapers… I just don’t think it can happen. We’d lose a lot of the details and fun bigger moments, like the cardboard car chase and Laundry Canyon. I may share link to the original strips online here and on Twitter this season with readers, but I just don’t think it’s going to work in newspapers. Hopefully we will get it into print in a future book! I’m sorry if you’ve been looking forward to it, I was too. But this means… The good news: This means a new Christmas special is coming!!! Look for it to start the first week of December! The great news: Ok, I’m a little nervous about this one because it’s not quite done yet, but I’ve been working hard and I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen… It looks like we WILL have a 2021 BCN calendar! It should go into the Zazzle shop around the second week of December. I wish it could be sooner, but that’s realistically when I can (hopefully!!) finish up the artwork for it. This means I will be postponing my originals sale until January or February of 2021, because I can’t tackle mailing out paintings & prints AND artwork for the 2021 calendar in December. We can always have the originals sale, but we’ve got a pretty hard deadline when it comes to New Year’s Day In the next couple of weeks I’m hoping to add the Christmas 2020 holiday cards and mugs to the Zazzle shop. And Beatrix’ “It’s been the week from HECK, in a year or straight up POOP” commemorative 2020 ornaments, magnets, and mugs. And I will be adding masks to the Zazzle shop too! Yes—MASKS! And (hopefully! EVERYONE THINK GOOD THOUGHTS! CLAP IF YOU BELIEVE!! 2021 calendars!!

But I’m a bit baffled by Lupin’s comments. The phrase “complain too much” just doesn’t make sense. It is logically impossible.

Elvis, Pucky, Lupin, hey, Goldie, Thanksgiving Day
The Man, Woman and crew: Boy and Girl, and Pengo, too
Violet, Agnes, ’Tasha, Alice, making crime pay
Fluffy Tommy, artsy Sophie, too, she’s his cute boo
Warm thoughts, good cheer, almost ’bye to a difficult year
Stuffing, sweet rolls and that green bean casserole
Apple pie, space dudes, meow gun, gratitude
Hope it’s a full-fillin’ day, what else do we have to say
We didn’t start the zoom cast
It was always streaming
Since the taters’ been steaming
We didn’t help the Nana
No, we didn’t right her
But we did invite her
We didn’t start the zoom cast
But when we are gone
Will it still stream on, and on, and on, and on…
